I don't want to make a big deal out of it but IMO this is the fall out of the way sports society is all about the only thing that matters is winning the last game (Championship).
There is sooooooooo many bad things happening that as humans we deal with on a daily basis so IMO people should celebrate as much as possible. The world needs more joy.

As I said last weekend, even if they don’t want to celebrate it, they deserve to acknowledge it for the fans. Winning the grind of a season in the toughest conference is indeed an accomplishment to be celebrated so I agree, don’t act like you are above enjoying this milestone, even if it’s not the ultimate goal. Avoiding touching trophies did not work out for some previous Gopher teams…

It is my understanding the trophy was in the building last weekend, but the team indicated they weren’t going to celebrate if they won. So if they didn’t want it then, I cannot imagine they would have lugged the trophy to the middle of nowhere for tonight.

Our observation was that if the opponent goalie moves at all they count it as a shot. Slide from one side to the other…shot. Shoot it into the netting above…shot. Come within 10 feet…shot.

They had our number for a few years (particularly in 2017/2018 where they beat us 5/6 times and ended our season with a conference tournament sweep), but it's nice to have reversed that trend and laid the hammer like we can and should the last two years.

Also glad to see the team come out swinging today, I imagine tomorrow will be a little more difficult but they couldn’t have played much better than they did today.
I'd like to say they came out angry and hungry, but since USCHO listed the start time as 7 EST (or 8 a.m. for me at present) and I fell asleep after working until 9 I only saw the last few minutes of the game.

Well, that was fun. I was at a concert tonight and managed to stay off social media all night long. I even banned the wife from it. Got home and just watched the game. It was such an arse kicking that I even fast forwarded the 3rd period. Play of the game for me was Fish pulling Cooley out of the scrum to prevent him from getting a penalty. Fish held his own on defense tonight as well. Bob's message was received. I guess they can say that they did not back in to the B1G title now and those who were on the phone canceling flights to Tampa can hold on to their tickets for now...

It is especially fun doing it while a kid from their backyard puts up five points in a period against them.
Once again I think Lamb played really well but just isn’t getting rewarded on the scoresheet for it. I think he’ll score a big goal sometime in playoffs.

If there is one improvement I would wish for, it would be to see some of the depth players show up on the scoresheet. Lamb is probably number 1 on that list, but I'd throw Mittelstadt and Strobel in that conversation as well.
Gophers took the crowd out of it early and sucked the energy out of the building. A quick goal to start the second period, followed by the 5-minute, pretty much sealed it. The game wasn't even halfway in, but it was over.
Great response by the Gophers tonight! Those who said last weekend’s loss would refocus this team and get them on a post season run may have been on to something.

It really is beyond parody how bad they are at Pegula ?
I posted about it last night how bad it is. You could find better volunteer game day staff at a Bantam A game. Like @bertogliat mentioned. The random shots being posted and registered was mind boggling. And what their game day staff considers a SOG for PSU is not what they consider a SOG for the Gophers. With their game day staff’s incompetence just makes their goalies save % all the worse.

How does the scoreboard work on TV compared to in the arena? Do they have a direct line into the arena scoreboard to post that on TV? Or does the TV keep track of the stats and time themselves and edit to match in the arena during stoppages in play? The latter could be the reason why shots were added and taken away so quickly.

Early on I looked at the graphic during a stoppage and the SOG changed from 5 for them and 2 for us to 6 for them and 1 for us. ?

Cooley said after the game that they back checked well. I think the coaching staff got to the guys this week about it. Hopefully the message stays the same and they don’t start looking for points. It’s easy to not play defense when the points come easy.
