And I also disabled the lane assist. Felt like I was always fighting the wheel. I do like the blind spot warning and the beeper when I back up and a kid walks behind me.
I like cruise control and really like ACC on two lane roads. I do not like it on freeways/multi-lane highways.

One thing that sucks is I have my tailbone shifted and displaced. So sitting for a long time really hurts. I even sit on a donut pillow while I drive… lol!!! So cruise is nice on long drives on the open road, so I can shift my sitting position w/o keeping my foot on the excelerator. Though driving in the city or heavy traffic (no cruise) and my tailbone starts barking can be very painful and annoying.
My favorite about ACC - when I get stuck behind traffic that changes speed often. I'm not constantly stepping on the brakes when they slow down and speeding up when they do.
I only use cruise control on long trips with not a lot of traffic around. The adaptive cruise control has only taught me to change lanes a lot sooner than I normally would. Even with adjusting the setting to the closest car in front of you.
The blind spot notification is nice, but I think a lot of people depend on it. Not a lot of people turning their heads to see if they can merge anymore. I drive a Civic (all the bells and whistles are in my wife's car) and I am overly aware of what everyone is doing on the road because no one sees my go kart coming.

I went from a Wrangler to a Camaro. A box of windows to ZOMG Blind Spots. My head was on a swivel for a few years. I trust my eyes, not a camera.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
The day pet owners hate the most… The day they have to say goodbye to their pet. Had to say goodbye to Conn Smythe today. Had Conn Smythe for over 16 years. While sad, he was a blessing of a cat. And those who ever encountered Conn, knew how much of a blessing of a cat he was. We told the kids last night what was happening today. While sad, the first thing out of our son’s mouth was “can we get a new cat tomorrow”… lol!!!
Have fun in Kitty Heaven, enjoying milk, Cheetos and Cajun chicken pasta!!!

Having just lost a very beloved dog of 16 years I know exactly how you feel. Sorry for your loss.
@gator I’m so sorry. Always a hard day for pet owners. Your son’s response is so typical, my nephew said almost the same thing but for a puppy. I like the photos 🐈

A glass replacement ordeal. So in late December the street gets plowed and then a second smaller snow thrower cleans up along the curb. Normally very appreciative for it since they clean out the bottom of the driveway too but this time there were ice chunks mixed in with slush that got thrown all the way up to and against the house (freshly painted in the fall). I look it over the next day since it was dark and see the chunks of ice by the bushes and frozen slush against the house but no damage. I text the city maintenance guy who’s a friend that drives the plow but not the snow thrower and just let him know the house was hit and no damage just have your helper adjust his Shute and be more aware of it. No big deal until a few weeks ago we noticed the inside of the double pane is broken where the house was hit. Very confusing to us because it was the inside pane and we’re never really in that room doing anything. Having no real solid 100% proof that’s what broke it we just had it fixed on our own. But, not a cheap fix we found out. In between the 2 panes of glass theres a wood grid that gives it a 6 window look. Who the hell designes a window with a grid between 2 panes of glass!!?? The only glass replacement in our area found a perfect match they order which is an insert that pops in in minutes but was 240.00. Over and done with but still kinda confused how it broke on only the inside. Anyone hear of this happening with glass? Thinking the cold snap in January stressed the window that got hit I don’t know? We both decided that 240.00 wasn’t worth the risk the chance of losing a friend but gotta say the next time the street gets plowed and cleaned up I just hope I’m around to watch and listen. Ugh! What a pane! Huhuhu

I remember when I was in High School in the late 70s it was Golden Valley High School we had a rivalry in hockey with St Anthony we had a hockey game at the end of the game their crowd reached over the glass boards and picked up one of our players by the helmet, our Athletic director tried to break it up, he got beat up really bad. The athletic director was also the swim coach, one of his swimmers dove into the brawl to save his coach. After this game when ever the 2 schools met for hockey games NO fans were allowed into the games
The weather was pretty much perfect all week long. Then come Saturday morning and it has to be windy and cold. I wanted to lay some asphalt this morning. By time the weather was halfway decent after lunch. I didn’t want to start the project because we had church at 4pm.
Though I did end up buying a leaf vacuum. I run all Milwaukee power tools, but Milwaukee does not make a leaf vacuum. So I ended up buying a Ryobi leaf vacuum. All I gotta say… its a great purchase. Spent about about a half hour today sucking up leaves. And the vacuum mulches the leaves as well!!!
I am a licensed Architect in a few states, and the rule is generally that I cannot sell my services or really even talk about Architecture project specifics in states I am not licensed in.
I have a past client who is looking at doing a project in a state I am not licensed in, but it is on a parcel of land that they had a short window on. They want to do a conceptual rendering of what this project might look like (very, very similar to a previous project we did with them) to see if they can get another investor on board. I said I'd love to help them, but I need to get registered in that state first. I have been in touch with the state, and was told it would take 3-4 weeks to finish the process. My client said that they couldn't wait that long and will just "run it through AI" and get something out there to try and get some investors on board. That didn't sit well with me, so I offered to do a conceptual rendering of a similar project in "Anytown, USA" for FREE, which they agreed to. I did a conceptual rendering of a similar project we had already done for them, with some minor requested adjustments. I did not put any logo on it, I did not sign it, I put "Anytown, USA" on the bottom of it.
After a few weeks of silence, I hear from the state thinking it might be my license going through. NOPE, I now have a formal complaint and have to go down for a hearing and potentially get sanctioned and could lose my license in that state, which would impact my ability to renew in states I am currently in and prevent future licensure in new states I am not currently in.
The client sent the image to the local zoning board to get their feedback on it, and they asked who provided it, to which they gave my information. A member of the zoning board found out I was in processing, and not official yet, and one of the zoning board members is a registered Architect in the state, and filed the formal complaint.
On the call I received I explained I was doing conceptual design, that wasn't yet intended for any specific site. That I had very intentionally not done any zoning research or included anything specific. It was a simple concept that they were going to ask AI to do, but I want them to ask me for help and not just run to AI for images. Doesn't matter apparently. The client used it to talk about a specific site and said they had discussed a potential project with me in the state. Who are you going to punish if they submit an image generated by AI? Well nobody, because there is nobody to punish. No harm, no foul I guess. Am I required to get registered in the state, to the tune of $1,000+, just to discuss a single project with a client that might not even go ahead to formal design and drawings? Apparently yes. I asked, what if they had submitted a rendering from a past project we did together instead of the "generic" image I made for them. Well, the kicker is that the client was too chatty and said we had discussed the project briefly.
So if AI generates a conceptual design, and the client submits it, no problem. But because a licensed Architect in 6 states generates a generic image, and isn't licensed in your state, they are forbidden (even though they meet all the requirements, they just haven't paid the fee and jumped the hoops yet). I guess AI is coming for my job way quicker than I anticipated. If I "lose" my license over this, it will be a complete career change for me anyway.
Didn’t realize architecture worked that way, that sucks. I knew securities does. Every state gives separate approval for each type of investment vehicle, and if you try to sell someone something and you don’t have approval there to do so, not good.
These E-bikes these kids are riding around. They are careless as they zip-zag-zoom down sidewalks and through intersections. I would back strict city or state ordinances/laws. I know Apple Valley PD pull kids over and lecture them. Don’t know if they get a ticket or their parents are contacted. And parents need to be more aware of their kids riding and be more responsible with consciences.
Found out today that my local grain elevator is closing in 2 weeks. It was 2 miles from one of my farms and that farm does not have a grain bin. I pulled up today with my tractor and wagons to fill my grain contracts. They had me come inside and had to get permission from corporate to unload the grain that I had contracted for August. No word if someone bought the site or not. The next closest elevator now is 15 miles away, which makes it not feasible for me as I just have tractor and wagons, and it would take me 2 hours round trip with wagons. I may have to hire someone to combine this farm and have them haul it somewhere. The small farmers are getting phased out and my time as a farmer is coming to an end soon....

I truly feel for you. I see it and hear it as well with my connection in farming. If you’re not cropping over several 1,000’s acres yearly. Adding the price of wheat and barley. And adding the price of machinery. A new combine is pushing nearly $1M. It’s very hard to survive.
i know a couple farmers lease out their land. A steady paycheck with little to no maintenance. Or hire out for harvest. When I was back in Montana mid July, I passed a custom cutting crew in the southeast part of the state. And I remember mid August growing up, the custom cutting crews showing up on the Highline in Montana.
My dad was on a custom cutting crew in early 70s. That’s how he met my mom. And I was considering joining a crew for an after high school job.
The wife and I took our 3 kids to the Dakota County Fair yesterday evening. We try to do everything as a family and include all 3 of our kids. Though sometimes we leave our oldest at home. She is nonverbal down syndrome and has a tough time walking. So places like a fair we put her in her wheelchair. People don’t care, they act like you’re putting them out pushing her through the crowds. I mostly push her 90% plus of the time. And I bite my tongue A LOT, just to not make a scene. Majority of people are friendly, understanding and helpful. Though there’s enough of them that make it not fun at times.
This story out of Billings, Mt is very disturbing. Still so many question, little answers and not much info. Which I can understand. I’ve reached out to friends in Billings and it’s very concerning and sad.
Agree on that part. So many questions. When the police arrived, there were still the sound of bullets being fired. Though the suspected suspect was outside on the ground with a self-inflicted bullet in his head. Was there ammunition in placed in the fire or on the stove being shot. Or was there still someone alive and injured in the house returning fire in defense.
Hatred of sports teams and their fan bases to the point you look stupid and/or act stupid and say stupid s#@t! I am coming off a week of the Iowa/Iowa State football game where level headedness doesn't exist in either fan base. Social media just gets overfilled with stupid crap that it makes my stomach turn.
Piggy backing off of that is hearing Gopher hate from MSU Maverick fans, coaches, and players on Saturday during the Q&A portion of their adult hockey camp. I pleaded my case to Coach Strand to take a beat on sweeping the entire Gopher nation into a pigeon hole when meeting a Gopher fan...ahem, such a me.
That's my plea to any fan of the opposition. Take five or maybe ten seconds before sweeping your opponents fan into the jackass category. EVERY fan base has jackasses, some more than others but don't become the cliche "arrogant" fan. We don't have to become a Maverick if we lose to them.
I am theofficial Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
It probably doesn’t help when I forget there is a hockey team in south central Minnesota.
