That just sounds like a normal day in any suburb lol. Everytime I go to Roseville it’s the same thing.
It's Friday plus it's Halloween. Doesn't surprise me.You would think it’s Black Friday for all the traffic and the parking lots in Apple Valley.
YouTube TV is in a dispute with ABC/ESPN/Disney… so I’m miss the Philly/Green Bay game. Though Shawshank Redemption is on!!!
I like the Manningcast, but not enough to have been bothered by the breakup. I was singing a different tune yesterday when I couldn’t find the São Paulo Grand Prix. (Completely forgot I was watching ESPN when I was watching F1)

The game came on after local news and the other half was searching channels and also landed on Shawshank. 😂

It's on ABC, regular TV.

Now that everyone has gone rogue on streaming/antenna/etc, It's wild west. I'm just thankful I DON'T have Prime to watch crappy football games on Thu nights. 😉

I ran into that problem last year for the Tourney for Class A semifinals. I streamed the Class A semi's on my computer. Luckily I have season tickets for Class AA and I attend the Class A semifinals (which might be one of the most fun sessions). So this year, I'll have to stream the Prep Bowl in the background. The pros and cons for for having streaming service like YouTube TV.
I’ve been in the medical field for over 27 years and it’s still a punch in the gut when one of favorite patients passes away.
Plus having classmate who turned 50 a month after I did have a heart attack and passes away. To add to it, his wife passed away Christmas Eve of 2013. They have a daughter who just turned 21 a week before her dad died.

Good call, it would be a neutral site.

I see your point for a couch or even a stove, but this is firewood.
If the wood hasn't been dried in a kiln, it could be filled with oak wilt fungus or emerald ash borer larvae and spread to the trees where ever the wood was transported. Also, if it's wood from an evergreen it'll burn heavy with creasote which is dangerous for fireplaces and will pop and shoots sparks/embers out into the home or at people sitting fireside. That's why people might be tentative about taking firewood.
Don’t know where to post this as Simple Pleasures seems to have disappeared. I’ve been gone from GPL for quite some time, I had a stroke. But I’ve made almost a full recovery, that’s the Simple Pleasure! I did read this forum almost everyday and I want to thank all of you for the entertainment, the humor, the arguments. 😄. Thanks also to Fairview Acute Rehab on campus! My room tv actually had BigTen and Fox Sports +, a freakin’ miracle, and I became famous among the staff for watching the games.
Dorothy: Who’s that?

OMG I am so glad you’re recovering and doing OK!

Yes, glad you are doing well, welcome back!
Sorry you had to go through that, but glad you're recovering.
Glad you're doing ok. Welcome back to the funny farm!
@kelly-red I was wondering why you hadn’t been posting. So glad to hear you are doing well!
Glad to hear you're doing better. Keep up with the healing.

And you didn't call to tell me? 🤣 🤣
So glad to hear you got through that. However, I'm surprised they allowed you to watch any Minnesota related sports while recovering. Your staff sounds sketchy.
@slap-shot Not only allowed me, some made extra visits during games and briefly watched with me! No one snuck me an adult beverage so it wasn’t a complete game experience.

And the strangeness keeps coming... how does 196.85 x 85.3 feet sound for the ice dimensions?https://www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/47138756/no-plan-b-hockey-arena-not-ready-26-olympics

Still bigger than the old DECC.
Part 1) We are currently on our 5th (!!!!) mortgage servicer since we refinanced in Dec 2020. I am getting incredibly sick of setting up new log-ins, transferring information, etc.
Now I am trying to take my account out of escrow, and it says I cannot due to a missed payment?!?! Turns out one of the transfers of service providers happened just before a property tax payment was due. So when the new servicer received the mortgage, there wasn't money in the escrow account to pay it, so they didn't until the money arrived. I transferred the money the day the account was setup and I could actually access it. Even prior to me receiving the escrow refund from the prior servicer. So there was a dead window in there I guess.
How is this on me? Why can't I take it out of escrow? It isn't my fault my loan keeps getting floated around from bank to bank. I am not the one doing that. I'd like to avoid this problem in the future and just pay for it myself.
We are well under 80% Loan to Refinanced Amount, let alone Loan to Value. Then they tell me, even if I could take it out of escrow, I would need to pay for an Appraisal. Are you kidding me? What are you going to do if my house is worth less than the loan now? Take it back or something? This is so stupid, it makes no sense to me.
Part 2) We took our kids to see Zootopia 2 last Friday. 4 matinee tickets (2 kids, 2 adults) were $56 ($12 & $16), then 2 icees and a large popcorn were $38. We spent almost $100 to go see a movie. That's going to be the last one for quite some time. $100 to take your family to a movie is F*&%*#G stupid. Then we go into the theater and one of the seats is sticky from spilled pop, there is popcorn everywhere, clearly hadn't been cleaned since last movie maybe not even yet that day.
I am starting to give up, everything has gotten so expensive it is beyond ridiculous. Streaming isn't the only reason people aren't going to the movies, it is just way too expensive to do so. If we do go, I will bring water bottles for the kids to drink water and sneak some candy in. Yes, I am in fact turning into my father.
Last week we bought about a 6 month supply of shredded cheese and put it in the freezer. Now we're going through them for UPCs.

Must've got screwed up with the conversion of metric to imperial conversions... 😉
Sort of. It's 60m x 26m. Incidentally, this is the same size ice as in Beijing 4 years ago.And the strangeness keeps coming... how does 196.85 x 85.3 feet sound for the ice dimensions?

It looks like the ice structure is in place (still needs the benches/penalty boxes/etc) but that would have been the real concern I'd have had, if they didn't have the icemaking ready to go by now:

All ISD 196 High Schools (AV, Eagan & Rosemount) are closed today due a threat.
I know it's not possible with this forum software (that has been adopted for VERY good reasons), but I miss the "Block" functionality.
Well...nah, I don't want to get "Banhammered".
Rented a 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for our trip to South Bend. It had all the bells and whistles, and I'm not a fan. I didn't change any of the settings, being that I rented it for 4 days. Just way too many safety options. I feel I'm a good defensive driver and the safety features drive me nuts. All the dinging sounds when a car is nearby or close, it makes look for something that's not there. Or when just a slight mist is on the windshield and the wipers will run. One feature I did like, was with the cruise control. Once the cruise is set, you can increase the speed or decrease the speed mph by mph by just clicking the knob. Though I didn't like cruise automatically decreasing when you come upon a vehicle. I just like having full control of my vehicle and not having features trying to control it for me.

I had to learn so much going from my old Wrangler (nothing powered, computer, whatever) to my current vehicle. Took me 2 days to figure out how to stop the windows rolling up/down halfway. Stupid buttons.

Speaking of older vehicles, a few years back I’m driving my mom in my 95 Toyota pickup at the time, she reaches over and turns the hand crank for the window, she says oh what is that? I thought that was the door handle! Door handle is the other one mom and why are you wanting the door handle when we’re driving through an intersection?😂 I said see that button on top of the door by your shoulder that’s the lock button just press it down please.
“Good pace, a lot of north and south, or it could be east and west, I’m not sure but either way…” Wooger

I wouldn't have a vehicle without adaptable cruise control. I just bought a new vehicle last year - it came down to choice of one without & seat warmers or one with adaptable cruise control but no seat warmers. So I don't have seat warmers .
I would take cruise over seat warmers all day. My wife might disagree. Just not a fan of adaptable cruise.
I tried cruise once, many many years ago, and absolutely hated it. I'm the driver, I want the control. I want to...well, guess what? DRIVE. And the adaptable cruise, I can't even imagine how much I'd hate that.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I love adaptable cruise although I don't have it in either car here. In the car I rented last May, you could adjust how close to the car you could reach in front of you before it would start to automatically slow down. I agree that the base setting would slow the car down too early for my liking, but I could reduce that distance. Perhaps some of you need to try that adjustment if you haven't already.
I’m a really defensive driver and don’t like the idea of not being in control of the defense so I’m not really a fan of it, but there is a time and place with the right conditions I’m ok with a little down time in wide open spaces with some cruise. Most of the time I’m just wishing the person in front of me would use it.
“Good pace, a lot of north and south, or it could be east and west, I’m not sure but either way…” Wooger
I almost never use cruise control, so a good adaptive system isn’t a selling point for me. Neither is lane keep assist or bling spot monitoring. All of these can usually be turned off so I don’t get bent out of shape over them though. What I do get bent out of shape over is how rare a manual transmission is now. I miss going through the gears myself.
