With the "2 and 2" reference, I'm pretty sure she was thinking about Chuck Wollery.

The reference 2 and 2 is meaningless to me. I couldn't even begin to guess when was the last time I actually watched a game show.

Mistaking Chuck Berry for a game show host named Chuck Barris made more sense.

5 O.T. - Chuck Woolery hosted some dating (game) show that was on after the 10:00 news in the 80's. Before commercial breaks he'd say, "And we'll be back in 2 and 2".

That settles it then. I can say unequivocally that I never saw that show and would never have gotten the reference even if my life depended on it. LoL

Went down a youtube rabbit hole over the weekend and found this guy. He does metal covers of all sorts of songs. Plays all the instrumentals and sings the lyrics too. Has songs from Disney movies all the way through mega-hits like Adele's "Hello" and dozens of others.

Here is Michael Jackson's "Beat It"

Saw that. Real bummer and even sadder if ruled a suicide.

Crushed. I understood the collective reactions to Bowie, Prince, even George Michael....but none were as firmly in my wheelhouse and childhood as Chris. This one stings big time.

Damn, that's too bad, out of the four grunge bands who got me to like music at 8-9 yrs old (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden) they are down to one singer, great music, tortured individuals.

I was out of the office till now and saw the headline when I checked my computer...liked we had discussed on twitter I was hoping it was something medical just not drugs or suicide...damn. Such talent came from those Seattle bands of the late 80's, I know I've bagged on Cobain but the collection of bands had/have great talent that has left a mark on music history. Like laxref said some were just tortured individuals. Andy Wood, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, and now Chris Cornell...definitely a part of the soundtrack of a lot of people's youths.

Not Seattle but from the same era and of a similar genre there's also Scott Weiland. :(

One of my favorite singing voices of all time. So much range. So talented. The Power Trip busted this jam out today. Really cool cover.

I'm having a tough time with this one. Saw him 3 times acoustic, once with Audioslave and 6 times with Soundgarden including 3 times at First Ave. I didn't go Saturday and am obviously regretting it. Big loss....

When was the last time you saw him? I'm reading articles about people saying he was a little "off" last night but that's in hindsight, I'm just wondering if any signs were there because like I heard on 93X this morning, not a ton of rockstar deaths, sadly, are truly shocking. I feel like this one came out of left field, he always seemed like the light above some of the Seattle scene darkness.

I didn't, but a few of my friends did. They had all seen Soundgarden before and said, even before the news today, that he seemed off. Like he didn't really care.

They also said it was still a great show, and they weren't disappointed by it.

Hawkey on the Power Trip this morning pointed out that if you really read some of the lyrics from Soundgarden you can see that Cornell has been struggling throughout his career. One song Hawkey singled out was "Burden in my Hand", the lyrics are very foretelling....

Quote:
So kill your health and kill yourself

And kill everything you love

And if you live you can fall to pieces

And suffer with my ghost

One of our local stations did an incredible tribute to the late Jimmy LaFave tonight. Jimmy passed away on May 21.

I'd forgotten how emotionally charged his songs could be. Some of you are familiar with what's happening in my personal life right now. There were tears by the end of this song.

And yes...the song does reference that St Cloud.

Going to Petty tonight, has anyone seen them live? I heard they are great.

On a side note a buddy was trying to get tickets this morning and appears to have been scammed. Has that happened to anyone before? He has a phone number and email address not sure if much can be done with that if he were to report it?

I saw Pearl Jam open for Petty several years back and it was one of the best combos I've ever seen. Everyone that was there for Pearl Jam stayed all the way through for Petty singing every lyric to every song start to finish. Great night.

Depends on how he got the tickets (via a verified website like StubHub, etc). That's the big question. Can't hurt to report it, in that case.

It was a craigslist add. Used Google wallet, tickets were suppose to be attached. Paid, never got tix.

Nice thing about stub hub you can really get scammed out of money. Worst case you get denied at door which would be a bummer but you get refunded full amount. And if your ticket doesn't work they try to get you in and in a similar seat.

Just got back to the hotel after seeing Brit Floyd at Red Rocks. Phenomenal.

Saturday saw Willie Murphy at Crooners. It was worth seeing.

Sunday went to see Chase and Ovation at Sociable Cider. They were ok.

Well that was definitely something. They opened with The Grudge, which I have never heard them play live. Disappointed they didn't play Sober or Vicarious. The intermission with a countdown clock was very weird. Especially after they played a drum solo and two songs afterwards.

I'd never heard third eye live, and I've seen then 5 other times.

We definitely got shorted a song on the encore... Something strange must've happened.
