Gymnastics rules are dumb. US has 3 of the top 4 point scorers in the all around. Since only two from one country are allowed, the 4th place lady doesn’t qualify while 20 ladies from other countries qualify. Took 4th by less than 0.07 points.

The Summer Olympics does nothing for me. After swimming and maybe women's gymnastics, I have no interest. Especially with more and more X Games becoming Summer Olympic events.

I don't watch like I used to, but I try to find time (while managing the time difference) to watch some swimming, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball and a few others.

I don't get captivated by the Olympics like I used, let's say, 20 years ago...it's not appointment TV for me. It is not to say that I don't enjoy watching it, I just don't go out of my way to watch it. I try to keep up with what is going on though. Such as medal counts or how certain athletes (Simeone Biles or Spencer Lee) or teams are doing but I'm not glued to the tv unless it's curling late at night...that just hits different. 😆

I’ll sit down and watch Women’s Gymnastics. I will watch the classics, 50&100 m dash, hurdles, most track events. I did the long jump in HS so I tune in. I like heavy lifting. I could 🤬care less about skateboarding, breaking, beach volleyball, synchronized diving, the new stuff.

My wife and I are at the games. Paris is nuts. Saw tennis yesterday, and what a DAY! Roland Garros is a fantastic venue, and has some incredible charm to it.
The day before we saw canoe slalom and kayak. Tomorrow we are heading south to Marseille to watch sailing and an impulse buy of America vs Australia in women’s soccer, which should be good.
We quickly came to the decision that this trip is going to be more Olympic focused in Paris as it’s hard to get around especially before the opening ceremonies as most of the bridges were closed and a lot of central metro stops are closed for the duration of the games. Cest la vie.. we will just have to come back to hit more of the touristy things, like the Louvre museum as it was closed for a red carpet event the day we could do it. My Grand Duke was in attendance so I shouldn’t say anything bad about it. 🇱🇺

I tried to understand the Rugby games that I watched. It was confusing because it seemed like they played 10 min halves, but they went off the field for halftime to rest. Games were over before you could get invested. They also made it sound like they played multiple games per day and I think the men were at the semi final stage before the opening ceremony. Had pool play and some of the tournament completed in a couple days.
As to rugby, I really like the idea of the extra point try being placed on the field where the touchdown is scored. That would make life really interesting in the NFL particularly.
Katie Ledeky was so far ahead of everyone else she was the only swimmer on camera! She beat the next person by almost 20 seconds! If that was her qualification round, what will the medal race be like?

Anyway...Lee loses 4-2 and brings home silver. He accomplished quite a bit this year to come home with a medal. He won the US Trials and then had to win the Olympic qualifying tournament this spring where he beat the #1 wrestler in the world at his weight. Today's match was a tough one but this in only the start for his international wrestling career. Hopefully he can crack the code to beating wrestlers from Russia to bring the gold back to the USA at the world championships and then the Olympics.
