Can't imagine all the scenarios that coaches have to write down and keep track of.

The wording confuses me. Who pays the scholarship? The original school or the ones the kids transfers to?
The wording confuses me. Who pays the scholarship? The original school or the ones the kids transfers to?
I would assume the new school.
The issue though, since scholarships have traditionally been year-to-year, is that I cannot incentivize a kid to come to my school by giving them $$$, then pull out the rug a year later when a five-star wants to come and needs those scholarship dollars (since they have used up their transfer freebie).
It may be a moot issue for the B1G if it starts paying student-athletes-- there will effectively be no scholarship limits then.

Random note that he is the boyfriend of current GWH D Madeline Wethington, so would not be surprised at all to see him end up a a Minnesota school somewhere. Not sure if the Gophers would be interested or not.
Hastings native, played at Shattuck for junior/ senior year.

Motzko and Miller were both assistants at Miami-OH when his dad Brian played there in the early 90s
The guy that pushed the amputee's wheel chair down the stairs will get some serious NIL money from the Sue.
I'm actually surprised to only see one player from the red team (so far) has entered the portal.

No controversy? Just players not living up to expectations?
@idontknow I heard from a Whioux fan that there was some behind the scenes issues with Johnson. Plus the fact he didn't play at all the 2nd half of the season and being a draft pick probably meant he was going to leave. As far as the goalie, as written in the article, the Whioux will most likely again bring in a portal goalie, so he would be the backup again to a transfer for a 3rd straight year.

They keep updating this everytime a player goes
The rats are jumping a sinking ship. Up to 4 Whioux players in the portal.

Speaking of rats I see the red team now has four in the portal.

Apparently even an Olive Garden isn't enough to keep players from leaving forks.

You have to wonder with some of the schools if something is going on behind the scenes. Clarkson, Princeton, Brown and a few other schools have about 25% of their rosters entering the portal. If I was an AD at any of those schools, there would certainly be some conversations taking place.
Personally I think it has to do with commitment and players thinking they're better then what they really are.

That may be in some instances but in others it may be the opposite where the coach told them to go find greener pastures. If a player didn't develop as hoped a coach may want to move on from that and bring in the next best thing. The transfer portal is giving coaches just as many chances at finding the right fit as the players are getting. My two cents...
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
I think it is a combo of things. Good players on bad teams will seek the opportunity to go to a better program to improve their visibility. (Red Savage is an example) You then have 3rd and 4th line players on good teams that want to go be a star somewhere else. Plus you have the grad students and 5th year covid players that don't want to hang up their skates yet. I do somewhat feel bad for the Miami's of the world because it is going to take them longer to get better because of the portal. It will be interesting on how many Gophers decide to enter the portal after the season. Last year I think they had 7, ( Denman, Cruikshank, Sorenson, Perbix, Boynton, Broz and Brinkman ) Granted most were because of the large class coming in and they would have not played a significant role on this years team. I could see 3-4 this year, but not going to worry about it until April 9th.

Moe might as well go to North Dakota to complete the trifecta.

I could see Barto, Pino, and Staudacher
Staudacher literally redshirted a whole year so he could play next season
Yeah Staudacher would be foolish to leave now. Honestly considering what is likely leaving I am not sure anyone should move on but some will and I hope they find a place they fit in.
I absolutely agree with Handy on this subject, no one should really move on. Staudacher shouldn't leave because he should be apart of the older leadership on the team and definitely within the defense.

HUGE pickup for Michigan State. They’re gonna be a contender next year. Wow what a job Nightangale has done.
Nice pickup for Sparty. Not sure he’s a game changer though.
Savage to MSU is not really a surprise since Nightingale probably coached him with the USNDPT.

One thing this transfer portal does is making coaches still "recruiting" his or her current players as well as the up and coming classes.

Original tweet by CHN deleted. But they said Jack Hughes to Sparty as well.

I think you'll see 3 level of programs in the coming years (if not already) with the transfer portal and NIL. The 'haves', the 'wannabes' and the 'have nots'. The 'haves' are going to be your premier programs who are going just reload every year with the portal, recruiting and NIL. The 'wannabes' are going to fight tooth and nail to be relevant every year with recruiting, NIL and trying to avoid players to the portal or hope to hit it big in the portal. The 'have nots' are just going to be happy to field of team, compete and make the alumni/fans happy enough to support the program.

Jerrod Moe in the transfer portal again....
Would he still be a traitor if he came back?
Nice pickup for Sparty. Not sure he’s a game changer though.
He’s bigger than his numbers indicate
How in God’s green earth has Cruz Lucius not signed or transferred yet
Obviously didn’t work out at CC, but intrigued to see where he heads next. Really heavy player in HS. Wonder if two years of junior would have helped.
Well, well, well. I thought he was the chosen one at Duluth..

I predicted Isaac Howard to the portal before the season even started. Not joking. Stylistic match made in hell with him and Sandy.
I got a gut feeling he ends up here.
The normally very opinionated voice of Duluth Hockey has been fairly mum on this portal news other than an "Oh" response.
