I have a few former Gopher players jerseys from their pro teams and Wheeler is one of them. It is also hard to believe he has only missed 18 games in his career. Also, the Jets gave Blake's kids mini silver sticks in honor of his 1000th game. That was cool.
Only seven of those games missed came before the start of last season, and three of them were nights off as he was rested prior to the playoffs. That’s just 15 games missed due to injury and illness during his 14-year career to date, including 11 over of the past two seasons (six with a concussion in 2020-21, and five more this season due to COVID protocol.)

Goli has had quite a fruitful career as well, highlighted by a Stanley Cup.
It's way early but Sampo could have himself a career, Bjugstad is already at 500, like him or not EJ is 800 as is Leddy, Lindgren has 134 since 2019-20, Skjei is at 389 most of those since 2017, and is Rem picking up steam or is this season a mirage? Not predicting 1,000 per se but that's some solid representation.
I'm not just talking about games I'm talking about production for the forwards. Having stars helps keep the college's name in the minds of the young players coming up, the best of which will become stars.
CM back on IR after 3 games. Some hope it is just a scar tear issue, but must likely a re-injury of what kept him out earlier. Others speculate that if he stayed in school he would have avoided this injury

For Gophers co-captain Sammy Walker, it will be a throwback to his childhood in Edina, to Saturday mornings when their father would drive Sammy and his two older brothers around in full gear until they found a park with a pick-up game underway, and they would skate outside for hours.
“We’re going to be skating during pregame and in the first period,” Walker said of their role during the Winter Classic, which was originally scheduled for New Year’s Day 2021 but was delayed 12 months due to the pandemic. With temperatures expected to be below zero at game time, Walker and the other Gophers are planning to dress appropriately.
