@upnorthkid we have both UND fans and Western fans by us. I like the Western fans much better. Not that they are representative of all Western fans.
I hadn’t seen the front angle but yeah you’re right; from the backside it looked like it was covered. Second goal kinda similar he just lost it underneath and it went in super easy.Wow that's a tough break for Western, he had it covered for a good second but credit to the forward who knocked the puck loose and scored.
Good call by the ref, it was never totally covered by the G

we’ve got the cursing version by us.
though I will absolutely respect a fan base that travels. Need more of that in college hockey
I thought first goal was a good goal, the second one to me was not as good. Should have been called frozen imo
@upnorthkid that’s fair. We have some nice Westwrn fans (booing 7 year olds notwithstanding). Even though one is from St. Cloud
I don't want to see the Nacho win again.
I don't want to see the Nacho win again.
If they win, it’s further proof there is ZERO reason you can’t reboot every year in the era of the portal and NIL.
As much as I dislike the NCHC egos… I dislike BU more.
Keep your stick on the ice...
As much as I dislike the NCHC egos… I dislike BU more.
This is where I was coming into the tournament
Nice to see a team go into the 3rd with the lead and not sit back and try to hold on for dear life. Congrats to WMU on #1
But The Big Ten is the best!!@@1!1
(We aren't no matter what regular season stats say)
As much as I dislike the NCHC egos… I dislike BU more.
I know more BU fans than WMU fans, so that is where I stood. *shrug*
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Great to see WMU win but sad that I really commiserate with BU….tough loss for them.
I can't cheer for any team in red, especially from the east, but I don't like the new portal teams either so I didn't have much of a rooting interest.
It would have been fun to see MSU v Western, but their collapse was worse than Minnesota's.
The Nacho had Denver and Western this year while the Big 10 had 4 tournament teams (and MI wasn't one of them). If you're using national titles as your measuring stick, the Big10 is lacking, but as a league, it was brutal this year ( and will be every year). It's just as well the Gophers lost, because they would have looked like BU tonight.
This NC was yet another example of an older team that dominated a deep, skilled, but young team. This will be the norm in the portal era, unfortunately. BC and BU were stacked, but in this tournament, that's not enough.
...Only 188 days left!
🙃 😴
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
No top 65 picks, that's a helluva stat.
Yeah, this gets to my point. College hockey has changed, and with the portal, young teams with the all the draft picks won't be hoisting a trophy in the end.
Losing the Cole Eiserman players hurts at the time but they're gone after one or two seasons anyway and it's hard to win a frozen four with too many of them on the roster.
@gopherpete actually they were playing a 1-2-2 in the 3rd. BU was close to tying it. The difference is they converted their 2 on 1 to get it to 2. Then BU had to take extreme chances that led to the odd man rushes.
So what we’re saying is the heavier, less skilled Gophers next year are guaranteed to win the NC? Sick!
Western Michigan University wins their 1st National Championship! Congrats to Prior Lakes Alex Bump and Head Coach Pat Ferschweiler!I can't cheer for any team in red, especially from the east, but I don't like the new portal teams either so I didn't have much of a rooting interest.

It’s (also) got to be especially sweet for Jason Herter! Not sure why he departed UMD or the source of the fall-out between him & Sandelin. But he just won his 3rd National Championship as an assistant coach!
It’s ultimately just a one and done tourney that does a pretty poor job of determining who the best team is. Western was a deserving champion, they had maybe the best offense in the league and had an elite defense and a very good goalie, not a lot of holes in that roster. But who knows what happens if BC doesn’t get a bit unlucky vs Denver, same goes for MSU’s first game. That whole narrative could flip on its head if not for a coin flip going the wrong way.Yeah, this gets to my point. College hockey has changed, and with the portal, young teams with the all the draft picks won't be hoisting a trophy in the end.

BU seemed more like an underdog team that got a little further than they should’ve due to upsets, they got to play against a 3 seed, a 4 seed, and another 4 seed (PSU admittedly had a very good season despite a horrible start) to get to the championship. They have some high end talent and are a good team but they were definitely outmatched today.
@trixr4kids A pretty poor job of determining the Best Team in college hockey? Sorry Trix, but that’s not a retort or term you’d of uttered in April 2002 or 2003. It’s all whose Ox is Gored (to quote Dan Barrerio). Would a best of 7 series determine a more accurate Best Team? Sure, but that’s ain’t ever happening.
Of course the Duluth fan chimes in 🤣 . Yes, nothing I said there was wrong.
lol…because what you’ve stated is essentially the equivalent of saying the MN State HS Hockey AA Tournament does a pretty poor job of determining the best team! lolOf course the Duluth fan chimes in 🤣 . Yes, nothing I said there was wrong.
@trixr4kids oh he’s giddy the Gophers lost. Anyone know how to ignore his posts so you don’t see them?
He’s a fan of quite possibly the luckiest team to ever win a national championship so of course he likes the format.
Western Michigan University wins their 1st National Championship! Congrats to Prior Lakes Alex Bump and Head Coach Pat Ferschweiler!
Pat Ferschweiler is from Rochester MN (as am I). Happy to see him lead WMU to the promised land. Our hometown is more-or-less a laughingstock in the MN hockey world and I get why, but maybe Pat winning it might inspire a few Rochester kids to put in the hours and become solid NCAA players themselves. After they turn around the high school teams ofc.
LMFAO! I’m certainly not giddy the Gophers lost to UMass, when my team has been a complete underachieving Joke the past 3 years. As for U…you’re barely on this board and frankly your dribble of posts are an embarrassment to the Tornado moniker (which is often associated with Anoka). So go take a long walk off a short pier, I could point one out in Duluth that would work just swell! lol@trixr4kids oh he’s giddy the Gophers lost. Anyone know how to ignore his posts so you don’t see them?
@bearpaw28 your obsession over where I’m from is kinda weird. However, it’s not Anoka if you must know. In fact, it’s 60 miles north of you on the Iron Range. It’s the city with the Hockey Hall of Fame. Try not to stalk me psycho. Anyway, again if there is a way to put an ignore feature on this guy, please let me know.

What’s the point of USCHO putting out a final poll? We had a tournament. Was that not good enough?
Every sport does it.
