B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
When I was working out east I traveled to a bunch of different D1 college hockey rinks. When I visited Cornell the leader of their student section welcomed me into their student section (I was wearing a Gopher hockey jersey) and said stick with me I got your back. He and his friends showed me a great time. I will never forget how I was treated even though they had no reason to go out of their way to welcome me.
Their student section has a REALLY fun time. Their chants/cheers are pretty interesting. A couple of my favorites was them copying the opponent goalie's mannerisms and them taunting their own fans for leaving early chanting "Sit down Townies" "Sit down Townies" 🤣
That does go to show a guy ( myself included) you probably shouldn’t judge a fan by his colors. I’ve sat by the rudest North Dakota fans possible but have also had a great college hockey talk with an old guy in a Sioux jacket that looked like the one he wore in college there that I still remember well. I know I’ve had plenty hatred towards me in elevators with gopher jersey on and I didn’t say anything to anyone. It’s just part of the game outside the game.
Two funny things that happened to me while wearing a Gopher jersey at D1 games out east was the time I was at Maine and multiple fans gave me funny looks like "Man where are you from? You obviously took a wrong turn to end up here" I wonder if they think I was trolling them since it was a few years after we beat them in the National Championship game and the time I was at a BU/Cornell game at Madison Square Garden a BU band member mistook my Gopher jersey from the side/behind as a BC jersey so he points at me and yells out BC sucks I turned towards him and smiled at which point he figured out his mistake. 😀
There is a picture of me at a Northern Michigan home game where I met a Sue, Badger and Gopher fan who were all friends. It is a funny picture of the four of us all wearing our different team jerseys at a random Wildcat home game.
A female BU fan gave me a tour of Boston and a place to crash overnight.
Female Michigan Tech, Michigan, and Northern Michigan fans have all given me a place to crash over night. Apparent female fans like me. 🤣
A male Maine fan gave me a ticket to their sold out home game and said my money wasn't good here when I tried to pay him for the ticket.
This is starting to make me sound like a free loader. 🤣
For these reasons and others my experience has been that overall college hockey fans look out for each other and enjoy having a good time even with fans of other teams.

most certainly can be and should be. I’ve always thought of the fan mixture at regionals or tournaments like the Sturgis bike rally that I’ve only heard about. If you’re there for a good time you’ll have one, and if you’re looking for trouble you’ll find it. Imo life is way too short and why pay money to look for drama? The later makes no sense to me.

This is the second straight playoff game Michigan State got 4 straight power plays in one period. Last week Sparty finally scored on the 4th one that carried over to the third period to beat Notre Dame 1-0.
