They didn’t have wings last year. The owner died and they got rid of the food. We promptly left for another bar.
I can see popping in for a Long Island, just for ole’ times’ same, but with the owner gone and the wings with him…. it is no longer a spot to pregame for me.
I am hoping the Merchant is up and running again. They were closed last year for some reason.

But yeah, Joel was one of the reasons we like to go there. He would put our Gopher group picture on the wall every year and was always very welcoming to our group.

Haven't been to Madison in years. Should take the wife one time after a South Bend trip. South Bend is a fun trip and easy drive. Plus you rarely and I mean rarely run into a$$hole fans who think they need to act tough.

@gator This will be his 3rd year. His Pic is up in 2 of the bars. 2 years ago Joel at the Shed let him in after 10pm. Before we left for the game we said see ya tomorrow. Joel goes why not after. Well Joel we have a child He goes this is my bar. He can come in. So at 10:30 we get to the door. Bouncer goes he cannot come in. I say yell for Joel. He did Joel gave the thumbs up and he was in. It all started when Travis sat between 2 adults at the bar slapped down some money and ask for a sprite and quarters for Foosball. Joel proceeded to play a game or 2 with him and talk. He goes this kid (7 at the time) can have a conversation with adult Who does he belong too. Cowgirl bought Travis a Red Shed Shirt a few years ago His pic is there and at the City on the Keg cooler. He is allowed in the City after 10pm also. He just chills out and plays the DJ there. He loved going to Madison and hates Bucky. He gets a kick out of hanging out with the adults and does not get in their way. Everyone from Cowgirl to Bertoglait to MNrouser.
He likes the Nitty Gritty too. Milk Shake and Fries at 11pm while Mom and Dad have a beer.

Can't make the trip this year, but I agree... the Long Islands are fun, but if you can't get wings to go with them, it's time to move on.
I'd gone in to the Shed on a trip in the summer once for a distillery festival in Madison. Didn't have any Gopher gear or anything on, and Joel recognized me as part of the road-trip crew. RIP Joel, we miss you.

We have parked in the ramps just north of the arena. No problems. Although we arrive early and leave late. If you’re trying to leave the area right after the game, it looks like a cluster.

There is a ramp by the Fluno Center that is close. But I would park in the ramp on Francis street right next to University Ave (Next Door to State Street Brats so you'll be close to post game bars.
Or if your staying in Madison, grab an Uber so you can enjoy yourself a bit more...!
