The mean mugging JJ did in that second half really pounds home that he’s extremely Gen Z and will likely rub a lot of people the wrong way.
I love it.
I totally agree. McCarthy has attitude and your QB having attitude is a GREAT thing.
JJ already has more 4th quarter wins than Ponder. No I didn't look this up so I'm probably wrong but don't let possible facts get in the way.
Blow out wins are always fun but IMO this is the best way for the Vikings to win JJ's first NFL game. Him leading three straight 4th quarter TD drives making a bunch of clutch plays include throwing or scoring each of the TDs (none of which were short easy touchdowns).
KOC called a timeout with 28 seconds left in the 1st half willing to risk it since the Bears could have decided to go for it on 4th & two opening up the possibly of the Bears scoring a TD before half. The Bears still had one time out left.
JJ to Nailor for a 1 play, 28 yard drive (HeHe) to set up the 59 yard FG by Will the Thrill.
Showed some great growth but hats off to the OL figuring it out. Massive holes and lots of time in the 4th plus the bears doing what the bears have done for the last multiple years. Great first win and a much better way to learn than post a loss. McCarthy has to be better consistency wise. Very obvious he’s a Harbaugh disciple out there and love for the game should help him keep developing
JJ Mac has one hell of a game face! Jordan love and the packers looked like complete garbage against KC in his debut. Not an uncommon thing. Loved the grit under pressure, got a lot of respect from the locker room, and think this will carry over and a great win to build from!
What composure in your first NFL start to throw a 3rd quarter pick 6 that puts your team in a big hole and then bounce back to lead three 4th quarter TD drives to win the game. One of the most important traits for pro athletes is the ability to shake off making a mistake and not let it affect you.
He came back and did a Sam Cassell (I'm willing to bet there will be people who will get this reference).
The team's response to the pick 6 was interesting (in a good way not just for today's game) the team really picked up their play basically saying no worries we got your back.
There were a lot of people jumping off the cliff after 3 quarters, on this thread and especially on social media. Hope everyone is ok this morning. It just took Randy Moss being on the Manning cast to turn the ship around.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey

Social media was bad for 3 quarters. All the armchair football notradamus’s had the Vikings, KOC and McCarthy as failures and busts after 3 quarters of the first game of the season.
Buck went way over the top on that, acting like Moss pulled his pants down and flashed his wanker. In the 1950s, mooning was commonplace, and in the 1970s, streaking gave puritan America heart palpitations through their partially covered faces. In the end, it was all harmless, if not a spectacle of spontaneous entertainment.
Back to the game, when the Bears missed a field goal at the start of the 4th quarter, that gave Minnesota a little shot of momentum. The Vikings took control from there--an unlikely accomplishment under the circumstances. A chance of a comeback was vanishingly small on the road at Soldier Field, against a team that shut them down for three quarters, with a struggling rookie QB at the helm.
This may be a case of two mediocre teams slugging it out, but it was a fun game for Vikings' fans who are generally accustomed to being on the wrong side of comebacks.
For all the unwarranted hate of Cousins, pretty sure he had a strong comeback record at Minnesota.
That said the Vikings correctly moved on from him and have hopefully hit paydirt with JJ II.
Also I don't think this is a mediocre Vikings team. They were missing their starting OL, their #2 WR, I think they were missing Harrison Smith, and were playing on the road on prime time with a QB getting his first ever start behind an OL that is still learning how to play together.
