Cashman with the sack but gets called for the face mask penalty.

Sure wish they would have made the same call two weeks ago against the Rams D linemen.

They are now reviewing it to see if he was down after the INT at the one yard line instead of a touch back. They originally called it a touch back.

There is 1:52 left with one Jag time out.

After review they called it Vikings ball at their own one yard line.

I don’t see Pederson still coaching Jax next year. That’s his offense and man is it bad. Then a massively undisciplined penalty on Walker that ends the game. They look like a poorly coached team.

With 52 seconds left the Jags on 3rd and 7 stopped Jones one yard short but got a 15 yard personal foul penalty trying to knock the ball lose after the whistle that give us an automatic first down.

The Vikings would have had to punt with only 13 seconds left (after running off 39 seconds and calling a time out - the Jags were out of time outs) so it probably didn't matter but not a smart play by the Jags.

I disagree with the call... It's not like he int and ran into the endzone. The NFL is so technical on some calls and whatever on others.

The Vikings Defense definitely came to play today. They only gave up 143 total yards and got 3 turnovers.

The Vikings defense has been way better in the games Cashman has played (he missed the past 3 games).

Although the Vikings D was really good last week without him giving up only 227 total yards and two FGs. The only TD the Colts got was by the Colts defense.

The Vikings defense has only been bad in two games this season against the Lions (who lead the NFL in point per game this season) and the Rams who have been good on offense when they have Puca and Kupp which they did against us.

What an ugly win, a bit concerned D coordinators are getting a book on Darnold to play 2 deep so we can’t go over the top & wait out Darnold making a mistake. That said, a road win is a road win & 7-2 is 7-2! 👍

Parker Romo (who was in training camp with the Vikings) was watching the game last Sunday night from his couch when Reichard got hurt and now a week later he goes 4 for 4 on field goals in a close win in his first NFL game.

To be faiiiiiirrrrrrr

It was Jacksonville, and furthermore, it wasn't the 50MM dollar bust, it was Mac Jones.

It's still holding an NFL team to 143 yards which doesn't happen very often.

Darnold had a MUCH better game today than Goff is having. He has thrown 5 INTs in 36 minutes.

Detroit might still win the game since they are only down ten points (Houston leads 23-13) middle of the 3rd quarter but after Darnold throws three picks Goff says hold my beer. 🤣

CJ Stroud has thrown two picks.

The Vikings decided to play opossum on their first 2 drives of the 2nd half, then give up a 98-yd TD pad on 3rd and 10, and thanks to a missed XP only lead TEN by 6. 🤣

They are basically baiting Flores into blitzing because unless we get home our dbacks can't cover 1on1.  Levis is going to die but it's working.

Darnold makes a perfect pass hitting Nailor right in the chest/hands for a 46 yard TD that would have put us up 3 possessions if Romo makes the extra point and Nailor drops it.

Scores stays 23-13

Lack of concentration. (He gets paid a lot to concentrate.)

Vikings got the benefit of most of the calls today. Tennessee is 2-7 and can't even to figure out how to line up on the line of scrimmage. This game should have been a massive blow out.

Vikings are regressing to the mean, and Detroit, who slapped 52 points on the team MN couldn't score a touchdown against, is the class of the division.

The Vikings are 5-0 against the AFC this year.

Over the past 3 games the Vikings defense has given up 2 total TDs and has gotten 6 turnovers.

They lead the NFL in INTs and total turnovers. They have given up the fewest points in the NFC and are 3rd overall in points given up per game behind only the Chargers and the Steelers.

@collegehockeyaddict against the murderers row of Flacco, Mac Jones, and Will Levis. Context is important particularly given this has been cited as the easiest part of the schedule.

I’ll be curious to see how we look in a couple weeks vs the cardinals and falcons as well as the rematches vs Love (389 4TDs vs 3ints) and Goff (280 and 2tds with only 3 incompletions)

The Lions are the best team in the NFC and maybe the NFL. Their point differential is +159. Buffalo is second at +97 (playing in the weakest division in the NFL). The Vikings are +74. Kansas City is +58.

Yes Kansas City is undefeated but in 3 hours both teams might have one loss. The Chiefs are an underdog at Buffalo and are trailing 6-0.

The Vikings played the Lions to a stand still earlier this season. I went to that game and some times when you are at the game you get caught up in certain things that happened so I looked at the box score after the game. I've never seen a box score like this one where every stat was so close.

I am not saying we are as good as the Lions we clearly aren't but the Vikings are having a very good season. They are 8-2 with a point differential of +74 playing in the toughest division.

NFC Black And Blue is easily the toughest division, and AFC East is easily the weakest. KC could easily be 6-3, maybe 5-4. NFC is DET, and if SF gets healthy, and of course PHI.

In the AFC it is KC, BUF. BALT/PIT could make some noise.

@collegehockeyaddict don’t disagree with anything you are saying but if the Vikings of today played the Lions especially on the road they would most likely get rocked.

The Vikings have lost all momentum that they had going into that Lions game. Good news is that they have won three in a row and looked a little better today but they don’t look sharp at all. They look like the team of two years ago that had a great record but could lose to anyone on any given Sunday.

Hopefully they can keep winning and re-find their groove.

Also, O’Connell might end up being a real good coach but he isn’t in the top tier yet. Especially the top tier of offensive play callers he has some work to do and more experience to gain.

That was one of the worst officiated games I’ve ever seen and somehow only one of the calls went against us. Clete Blakeman has to be one of the worst refs in the league right?

The defenseless WR penalty against TEN was embarrassing (I will say, that was a by the book call, but I hate that rule with a passion), and was it an Unsportsmanlike against the coach right after? (which I 100% agree with the coach; meaningless penalty as for yardage, and he made a point). Then the Illegal Contact a bit later was a phantom call.

Either way, I don't think it would have changed the outcome, but the refs were screwing TEN all day.

they call 140 yards in penalties a game which is 35 yards over average. So yes they’re one of the worst about inserting themselves into games

Aaron Jones was a big improvement in RB over last year.  That said, the rushing issue last year was blocking.  May or may not be an issue with the OL, but blocking schemes.  The RB can't run through holes that don't exist.

@bertogliat Vikings are 8-2, not sure how they’ll finish, but NOBODY on GPL thought on the last day of the State Fair the Vikings would start 8-2. Jones is dramatically better than Mattison, he’s better than Cook was his last couple years with the Vikings. On to Chicago & the dysfunctional Bears.

I also don’t think that anyone on this site on October 1 would have thought the Vikings would struggle to score against Jacksonville.  The Vikings are 8-2 but lately look like they could lose to the worst teams.

I worry they are regressing to the team we thought we had during the State Fair, only with no real shot in the playoffs and a much lower 1st round draft pick.

Sam's passing rating for the season is 10th overall at 100.0

Over the last 5 games it is 98.9 so his rating hasn't really regressed. He has had 2 bad games (vs. the Jets good pass defense in London and at Jacksonville where the refs missed calls on two of his three interceptions) and 8 good games (ratings over 100) including yesterday where had a 107 passer rating. His rating the three games before the Jags game was 103.5, 128.8 (at Rams), 107.1

Sam Darnold: 199 of 293 (67.9 %), 2,387 yards, 8.1 yards per pass, 239 yards per game, 19 TDs, 10 INTs, 100.0 Rating

Pat Mahomes: 239 for 344 (69.5 %), 2,404 yards, 7.0 yards per pass, 240 yards per game, 15 TDs, 11 INTs, 90.3 Rating

Jalen Hurts: 182 for 263 (69.2 %), 2197 yards, 8.4 yards per pass, 220 yards per game, 12 TDs, 5 INTs, 101.8 Rating

Brock Purdy: 202 for 306 (66.0 %), 2,613 yards, 8.5 yards per pass, 261 yards per game, 13 TDs, 8 INTs, 95.9 Rating

Kirk Cousins: 245 for 360 (68.1 %), 2,807 yards, 7.8 yards per pass, 255 yards per game, 17 TDs, 9 INTs, 96.6 Rating

Cousins, Purdy, Hurts are the most likely QBs the Vikings will face in the first round of the playoffs if we make the playoffs as a wild card and the Lions get the one seed (the only bye).

Darnold's numbers stack up well against other QBs this season along with being higher than the QBs mentioned above he is also above Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Matthew Stafford, Russell Wilson, and Jordan Love.

Sam is having a better season then a lot of QBs that are on playoff teams. 14 teams make the playoffs and based on current records only 5 of the teams have a QB with a higher passer rating than Darnold. One them is Kyler Murray whose rating is only slightly better at 100.8. Since the NFC west is unlikely to get a wild card Arizona likely need to win the division to make the playoffs. The other three teams in the division are all one game back and their QBs (Purdy, Stafford, G. Smith) are all below Darnold.

The Vikings have given up 17 points per game this season the best in the NFC.

In the NFL any team can beat any team on any given day. No I don't expect the Vikings to get to the NFC Championship game but they can certainly win a playoff game or two and whether they do or they don't this season is a good building block. The team is much better than then were 2.5 years ago when Spielman and Zimmer were fired.

Kwesi did a great job bringing in starters to really upgrade the defense and did it at great value (low contracts). He has created quite a bite of salary cap space.

If Nailor catches a ball that hit him in the hands/chest the Vikings win 30-13 on the road in a game they were favorite by 6 points. They still won by 10 points.

Most NFL games are decided by one score.

The Vikings are 2nd in point differential in the NFC (5th overall, 6 points out of 3rd overall).

Every week there are multiple games were better teams are in dog fights with lesser teams. It is the NFL the league of parity.

The Vikings are 4-1 at home and 4-1 on the road. The game against the Jets while in London was considered a Viking home game.

Last season only a third of NFL teams had a winning road record.
