The Rink Live has confirmed with multiple sources that the forfeiture stems from the 2022-23 season, as Omaha owner Mike Picozzi was disciplined by the USHL for an off-ice interaction with the league.

The Lancers were forced to forfeit a pair of first-round draft picks — 2023 Phase II and 2024 Phase I — and Picozzi was also fined. Omaha lost the second overall pick in last spring's Phase II Draft.
