I think the colder than usual weather really bothered him. You could tell yesterday in particular he was limping considerably more than Thursday or Friday. I wonder if his performance yesterday would have been a bit better if the temps were higher to help his body stay loose.
His swing looked pretty good, despite all that. His putter was absolutely atrocious yesterday. I think he had three 3-putts and a 4-putt. That's really bad.
It’s 70 degrees there today, he’s still limping and is four over through 15 today so I don’t think it’s the weather.
How's he putting? I didn't see any of his round, just the scorecard (ugly). His swing actually looked pretty good yesterday all things considered but his putter was a disaster.
Don’t know, when coverage started he was on 15 or 16. I did see him hit a 20 foot-ish downhill putt 20 feet past the hole and then make the comeback putt so take that FWIW

One of the holes on this course I'd love to play just to see what would happen.. My guess: snap hook left of the green because I'm worried about water right.
I'd love to just walk the course once so I can fully appreciate all of it. Alas, that's never gonna happen.

Tickets for practice rounds aren’t nearly as hard to get as for the tournament rounds.
I meant walk around on it while someone plays. Like trail a group around on an average day.
Fantastic performance by Scheffler this weekend.

Fantastic performance by Scheffler this weekend.
He got a bit shaky for a few shots today, but never allowed it to progress to something serious. Four sub-par rounds. McIlroy and Morikawa, playing together today, were a combined -13 for the round. They both holed out from the bunker for birdies on 18.
The bogey save he had yesterday, being able to hit it right at the flag from 230 out or whatever he was, off the pine straw after taking the unplayable was insane.
Should be a FUN weekend in Tulsa, probably even hot enough for Tigers back to loosen up. ? The fact he’s even competing this weekend after that car wreck is amazing, just happy he’s in the field, wish Phil was too, despite his (earlier this year)?comments, I don’t understand why he’s not defending his title.

From what I'm seeing, it looks like a large part of why he isn't participating is the comments from earlier in the year, waiting for the fallout from that to calm down.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
John Daly's round today.

The inimitable John Daly, I presume?
Yes, The headline on the tweet must have cut off when I posted it.

That info is not about today. It was about a practice round in like 2008.
I’m sure that whoever came up with the term “living your best life” was looking at John Daly when they did
Tigers 3rd round today hiis worst ever at the PGA
Aloha!
That is too bad

I don’t understand why Woods is playing if he’s not 100%
a. He truly believes he can still win
b. He has an enormous amount of personal pride
c. It's all about breaking Sam Snead's record of Tour wins and/or surpassing Jack Nicklaus current record of 17 majors (achievement driven)

Overcoming his injuries to see if he still can compete. I'd say he's doing okay so far, considering his age and injuries, even with today's withdrawal.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Do you guys know that even the guys that finish like 58th make a bunch of money?

Nicklaus has 18 majors.
At this stage, Tiger is largely a ceremonial presence for golf versus a true threat at the majors. There are much better and younger players even if he was 100% (let alone with all of his injuries over time). It’s the same kind of thing that Nicklaus, Palmer, and others went through in their late 40s and 50s. You enjoy watching the legend but you know it’s largely about what once was.

Someone must have gotten him to face reality. There’s no chance he was gonna win if he can’t put weight on one leg. It’s not like he needs the money.
Pereira is choking hard. Wow.

JT wins in a playoff! ?
I think the broadcast said going into today, JT had a 1.5% chance of winning it. That's a bit nuts that it happened. Great finish to see.

I don’t understand why Woods is playing if he’s not 100%
Because even at less than 100%, he’s still good enough to make the cut at Majors?
So that’s his goal now…?…limp around and make the cut? It’s not, that’s why he pulled out. He needs to get healthy
Yes, it won't be easy for him in his current state. He needs to improve his health.

We’ll see what he does. The US Open is about 3 1/2 weeks away, maybe too soon. The British Open is in mid-July and at St.Andrew’s, which is pretty flat. Maybe a better opportunity and he’s won The Open there twice.

That is what he is testing out, IMO. Don't know until you get out there. He is improving as far as stamina. Made it through the third day, and wasn't bad through the second day...

He was limping badly after the second day. Like really bad. Recovered decently for Sat but what was the point. That said, I’m sure he’s playing when he’s not playing tournaments, he should be able to gauge how he feels if he plays multiple days in row. Standing on the range and swinging isn’t gonna replicate walking a course. I’m guessing he may not be playing 18 holes every day either to test it out. Those last 5-6 holes is where fatigue sets in if you’re not conditioned.

You know this of course, but athletes like Tiger are just wired differently. It's next to impossible to get someone like that to sit one out unless they really thought going in they couldn't compete and/or risk serious re-injury. I get your point but he doesn't want to be idle. I do agree though that sitting out the U.S. is probably a good idea - we'll see if he can make the same decision.
If Tiger honestly believes he’s going to compete with healthy, top young golfers in his current state, then his ego is getting in the way and he’s getting a major reality check. He wasn’t consistently in the hunt a lot of the time even before that accident. I understand being competitive but there are times in life where you have to look in the mirror and be honest with yourself too.
Very well said, Hammy.
What happened to Koepka?
Ever since he became comfortable being Mr Lippy in front of the camera he became mr irrelevant in the course.

He’s joined a long, Long, LONG list. Rory (who I love) hasn’t won a major since 2014. Spieth with dry spell too. How about Jason Day. Or Rickie to name just a few who fall into the category of huge stars who haven’t got it done, especially recently (or ever).
Strange cool, almost British Open weather conditions this weekend in Boston for the US Open while it’s 90+ degrees today in Minny…
Matt Fitzpatrick a fitting winner, hits 17 greens in regulation, finishes 6 under par, Will Z. barely missed a putt on 18 to force a playoff.
Saw this on 'dillo's FB feed. Gold!

That is hilarious…promotional CD-ROM
That’s a tough finish for Theegala, it was right there for him.
Tiger going to miss the cut by a wide margin today. He's +9 for the tournament going to 17. Cut line right now is even IIRC.

Tough to play with a shattered ankle. This car wreck has significantly affected how he can swing a golf club (at least for now). Just glad he’s still able to tee it up…but it’s going to be awhile (if ever) regarding Tiger getting back to being competitive at a Major.

I can't believe Tiger only walks with a slight limp considering how badly he mangled his leg. That in itself is a victory for him. Being able to play a semi-competitive round of golf is just icing on the cake.
Maybe he would do better if he focused on his recovery and not on lecturing the LIV players on their choices. Cause you know...Tiger is the bastion of great choices, integrity and respect.
Drive for show…PUTT for ? Cameron Smith is your OPEN winner…closes with a sizzling 64.
Hi Golfers. I run a golf league at Emerald Greens golf course (south-east metro) My partner is not available this week and so far none of the subs can make it. So I’m coming to my GPL colleagues to see if anyone would like to play 9 holes for free on Tuesday. We have a WIDE range of playing abilities. Let me know if you are interested—PM me. The day is this Tuesday. Our tee-time is 5:25. We are playing the front 9 on the silver course, gold tees. This is an easygoing, league, men and women play, and there are also a couple beers afterwards.
