Kato's Nathan Smith's rights traded to Arizona with Bryan Little's contract from Winnipeg for a pick.

I'm pretty sure Smith can still become a free agent July 1 so this is probably Arizona continuing to go in the wrong direction.

Smith wasn't going to sign with the Jets. It may be a McBain type of deal that Smith's advisor told the Coyotes that he would be interested in signing with them. Plus, it was a 4th rounder. They could also trade his rights again, like what happened to Adam Fox as his rights were traded a couple of times.

NHL may need a Commissioner Don Lucia ruling on this...

Smith was damn close to signing with them last year, that's from Hastings directly. Smith is signing after this season is done no matter the outcome...that's straight from him.

It’s shocking that the NHL central registry (which reviews trades) does not have a centralised record of no trade lists for players. Wow that is quite the screw up.

I think we found the next CCHA deputy commissioner.

That may be the case. I don't know which is true. I was just going by what I heard on the NHL shows and what I have seen online.

If I were Smith now, I would hold out until July 1 and sign with who ever I wanted instead of Arizona.

This leaves Vegas in a bit of a salary cap bind when they have to restore a couple of their big name guys off LTIR.

I absolutely love these Flames jerseys. One of the classic color schemes in my opinion. I'll forever shake my head that the Denver Pioneers made a switch from this.

The NHL GM's are discussing changing the rule that concerns a 5 minute penalty. Now a 5 can only be dropped to a 2. They are discussing being able to eliminating the penalty altogether. Hopefully that passes and is passed down to college hockey.
