Yeah honestly who cares, at best the guy looks like he could be a bad starting QB in this league.

He’s started 1 game. He’s at least as good as anyone available in the draft so teams will make offers. Who cares about the most important position in all of sports? You’d make a great GM.

He started one game yes but he wasn't exactly good in it or in backup minutes or really at any time and he's not exactly projected to be an elite QB. Like any team if the starter goes down for any significant period of time then the season is probably toast, Jordan Love or whoever isn't going to change that. I just think having a Jordan Love problem with him as the backup is clearly a far better alternative.

Backup minutes…?….he’s not holding the clipboard right for you. I’d take him over Cousins for the future. It’s not like GB has a system built for him like BAL. Put him in the Ravens system I bet he plays well eventually. Speaking of BAL I’d still like to see the Vikings trade for Huntley and build a system similar to what BAL is doing.

Denver making that trade removes one possible trade partner for Cousins.

Carson is back in the NFC East. Former Viking Taylor Heinicke has been replaced as the starter.

https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1501630862261108742?s=20&t=kUIMgF2YCzos4crjvvSL5Q

Commanders acquired QB Carson Wentz and a second-round pick from the Colts in exchange for a second-round pick and two third-round picks.

The second-round swap moves the Colts up six spots. The latter of the third-round picks is in the 2023 NFL Draft. That pick can convert to a second-round selection if Wentz plays at least 75 percent of the team's offensive snaps or reaches 70 percent and makes the playoffs. Those are the same conditions that the Colts agreed to when acquiring him from the Eagles.

Washington is picking up the tab for all $28 million of Wentz's contract in 2022. After falling apart in the Colts' Week 18 loss to the Jaguars, Wentz's days in Indy were numbered. All reports after the conclusion of their disappointing season only confirmed this sentiment. Wentz improved after reuniting with Frank Reich in Indianapolis but he failed to show the ceiling that earned him a mega-contract in Philly. Instead, he simply cut back on the mistakes while handing the ball off to Jonathan Taylor.

The Commanders are stocked with talent on defense and have a core of young skill-position players on offense. Their front office clearly believes that they are one average quarterback away from being a serious contender. To their credit, the quarterback play in Washington has been middling to atrocious in recent years. Wentz will help boost the team's floor but it remains to be seen if he is capable of leading his team to the playoffs anymore.

The QB dominos are definitely in motion. Rodgers resigning. Wilson and Wentz traded. Jimmy G could definitely be the next one traded.

Feels like Jimmy G is the default move for the Colts but he’s about to have shoulder surgery and won’t be able to throw for 4 months which complicates it.

They have until July to sign him to a deal, which they most likely were going to do. Every day they wait costs them more money. If Christian Kirk is worth 21 million a year what is Adams gonna get.

He turns 33 in 10 days the guaranteed money must be less. Likely multiple years on the back end that aren't guaranteed in order to allow Von to get more money up front while spreading out the cap hit.

I just don't see Hunter working out for a odd front D. Not big enough to be DT. A stand up outside rusher has different read / keys / responsibility.

On a even front he can be a terror as a DE.

Think of the rolling disaster it was when the Vikings traded for the guy from Jacksonville whose name I won't even try to spell.

Davante Adams to the Raiders? Who the hell is Rodgers going to pass to? He was basically the only good receiver the Packers have had. Seems odd to re-sign Rodgers and then get rid of his biggest weapon. :confused2:

Rodgers is good but he can’t catch his own passes Mr. Green

No doubt Rodgers has a big ego and wanted the financial love… but a trade like this certainly doesn’t raise his odds for success either. That offense should be easier to play D against without Adams to worry about on the outside. Seems like a very odd situation.

There’s still a few good receivers available plus Julio Jones soon. I guess they could have signed Adams to a cap friendly deal but I saw yesterday that even after all tue moves they’ve made they were still 18 million over the cap so I guess they solved that problem. Something most likely had to happen with Adams by Sunday and I’ll guessing they didn’t want to pay him almost 30 million a year. That would mean about 40% of their team salaries would be tied up in 2 players.

It certainly wouldn't be easy to replace Adams but this year's draft is suppose to be a good WR draft and the Packers now have two 1st round picks.

Personally I think the Packers should use both first round picks on QBs since picking Jordan Love (one first round pick) didn't get them Rodgers replacement. If at first you don't succeed try try again. :biggrin2:

I’m not a great NFL mind, but I think about how Sidney Rice got paid by Seattle after having Favre throwing to him. Didn’t do much at Seattle without Favre.

Will Adams be just as good without Rodgers throwing to him?

Julio has had constant injury issues and has a lot of mileage on him. His best days are clearly behind him. And no matter who’s they sign, it’s a step backward and it’s with a player that won’t have the same kind of chemistry with Rodgers.

I get that it comes down to finances but, IMO, this makes the Rodgers signing less impactful.

The thing in Adams favor is that his college QB was Carr and he had talked about reuniting with him in the past.

I’m sure they will pick a WR high… but relying on a rookie when you’re a team that doesn’t have very good options on the team already doesn’t seem like a winning strategy.

Jefferson and Chase are unique players who went to teams that already had a pretty good WR on their respective teams (Higgins at Cincy and Thielen for the Vikes). It helps the transition as a rookie when teams can’t key on you.

JJ would be a decent signing money wise and as a veteran but he misses a lot of games. TY Hilton, Odell Beckham and JuJu SS would all be solid replacements but they’re gonna want almost as much as what they just refused to pay Adams and they obviously made that trade cause they can’t work the cap space. I could see them signing someone like Will Fuller and drafting a WR in the first round.
