So Iowa is improving a little, I'm not feeling so chicken little but I still hold no hope of beating Michigan, Ohio State, Minnesota, or Wisconsin. I'm feeling better about our odds beating both Northwestern and Purdue though. In the end of it all though it will suck to give up Floyd and not get back the Heartland trophy from Becky after already losing the Cy-Hawk trophy. Keeping the Heroes trophy from Nebraska this season will have little meaning.
I get accused of this by you every year.
....and I haven't been wrong yet.

I don't think I have ever won a sports gambling bet in my life. I don't bet often but I guess I've placed 20 or so sports bets in my life, most in Vegas. I don't recall winning any of them.
I can count on one hand with some fingers missing on how many times the Gophers have won me any money. I've stopped betting on the Gophers and can't recall the last time I put money on the Gophers in Vegas. Outside of the Gophers, my track record is good, not great but good. I prefer parlays over single bets. Makes it more fun... until the first bet of the parlay loses... lol!!!
Surprised you found a sports book in 2003 to cover college hockey.
As I recall, the ONLY bet on college hockey they had was the "To win National Championship"
That I’ve seen. Comes out at the start of the season and the odds pretty much stay the same all season. Every year is almost the same as the previous years. The only casino I recall that does covers college hockey is Caesar’s. Though I’m sure there’s more, like a hole in wall casino like Orleans.

Ralph Engelstad likely took those bets.
The good old Imperial Palace, now the Linq. Aka the 'nazi bunker'... only UND fans are proud of that dump and the Nevada Gaming Commission fined Engelstad for having a bday party for Hitler.

I guess not since Iowa hasn't finished below 3rd in the West since 2014. I know Iowa usually improves but it's gonna take some real voodoo to get this team finish above Minnesota and Wisconsin in the division.

If there is any good news the the teams we hate the most the B1G west are getting smoked.

I will take Iowa's loss to Michigan over any of their three wins this season. Seeing how they played against a top 5 team gives me hope that they aren't a complete cluster this year.

It's wins and losses. They have this weird belief they should be tOSU. They are Nebraska dumb...
His recruiting is not exactly setting the world on fire and it seems they are worried they are in trouble of sliding back.
Losing to Berty who they ran out of town to bring in Chryst (Barry's lackey) was probably the last straw. They know they can't keep Leonhard forever as well so...yeah.
Wisconsin has a big QB problem but apparently haven’t been able to find a better option. There have been no Russel Wilson’s looking to play college football while not attending college classes.

Or Alabama. Guess what? Sports shouldn't work like that. One loss in college football? ZOMG?! FIRE HIM, THAT'S NOT A TITLE TEAM!
Those Pelini/Chryst records are really good. REALLY good. But, not good enough, I guess.
I should add, our fans are no friggin better. The only difference is we jump off the bandwagon like a bunch of fainting goats at the first sign of adversity. Its why I changed my attitude about sports I wanted nothing to do with being like most Minnesota Sports fans. (i.e. the bonins of the world which is pretty much all of them hence KFANs popularity) They (BADgers) stay on the bandwagon...for a while anyways. We constantly move goalposts to never be satisfied.
Just you wait, if the next two weekends go a bit sideways for the hockey squad you will see half this board telling everyone how a bunch of 4th liners leaving was the death-knell, how Motzko and his recruiting of top end talent is a bad strategy cause the players are soft and how we aren't a tourny threat. Then, when we inevitably win the Big Ten again, make the tourny and make a run they will act like they knew it all along, until the team loses and then it was a wasted season. Rinse...repeat.
Wisconsin was clearly sliding backwards under Chryst and getting smoked at home by a low end B1G team, you can see why that’d be the last straw. I don’t think it was the wrong move but Barry can’t afford to screw this one up.
Personally wisconSIN’s decline really started at the tail end of Alvarez being AD. Bielema, Gary Anderson and Chryst might have eve been the head coaches, but Berry still ran the program. Both Bielema and Anderson were exposed as coaches when they left wisconSIN for other head coaching positions.

It isn't the wrong move, it is just the wrong time. Why potentially tank your season 2 games into the Big Ten season when the leader of the division is 1-1?
The big theory is they want Leonhard to be the HC and they worried he would leave in the offseason. If that is the case they canned a guy who won 9 games last year and won the division in the previous non-COVID year for a guy who has only been coaching since 2016 and has never been a head coach. Oh and apparently (if you believe BADger fans) he is a hot commodity amongst NFL coaching types...
Some also think a guy like Leipold will take the job. Why would a guy leave Kansas, where if he wins 7 games he is a god to go to a place that just fired a well known alum with a dang good record 2 games into the conference season? The same school that ran the previous two coaches out of town. (though Anderson was a bad hire anyways) This is a Nebraska move...
Well the rumor is he ended up taking a smaller amount ($11 million instead of the $16.5 if I read right) so again, he did helped out a school that just threw him under a dump truck.

Yeah idk, it really just depends if you think having a different coach in is tanking the season anymore than keeping him around. But I agree that there’s no guarantee they upgrade and Wisconsin sports in general aren’t in the best spot in terms of their recent trajectory, football being the biggest one they need to get right.
Oklahoma is the reason why preseason polls and polls for the first 3 weeks of the season are a joke. Oklahoma was preseason #9 all because of their name.
Gophers open as favorites, so positive sign, but they may still be without Devito at QB. Both have strong Defenses.
Illinois gave up 6 points to the worst offense in college football, and they scored nine points on one of the best defenses in college football. Take that FWIW....

Yesterday the coordinators of the Iowa football team met with the media during their bye week. Of course Brian Ferentz was the focus because of how shitty the offense is. Here is the link for the transcript of the interview:
Now here is my reaction after reading it...Iowa can lose every fucking game the rest of the year as far as I am concerned. I haven't witnessed such egotistical incompetence since the Tim Brewster era here in Minnesota.
Here is the quote that has put me over the edge and pushed me to the attitude of why I want Iowa to lose out:
Media: "What's the downside of going with Alex(Padilla)? You still have Spencer on the team. What is the downside of giving him(Padilla) a shot?"
B. Ferentz: "The downside of..."
Media: "Making a change at quarterback"
B. Ferentz: "What would be the upside?"
I don't know...YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY FUCKING SCORE SOME POINTS AND WIN THE DAMN GAME!
I'm just done with the Hawkeyes this year and this has put me on the fence about how I feel about Kirk Ferentz leading this program. The nepotism that I didn't see an issue with is, to me, now a big issue. Iowa's offense has trended down during Brian's era as offensive coordinator. This year's offense is even worse than the 1-10 team during Kirk's first season...how is that even possible?
I am going to watch the rest of the season but I hope that all the voices screaming for change will actually be heard and something happens. B. Ferentz said he doesn't want to make a change merely for change, sometimes you have to ride it out. It's like that meme with dog sitting in the room on fire saying it's fine...Iowa football, especially the offense, is definitely NOT fine. Make a change or just let the whole thing burn down.
Rant Over...
