Unranked Washington State goes to Madison and beats Wisconsin.
That's a shame!!!
I believe Minnesota has looked like the only team that looks like the serious leader for the B1G West. Iowa is looking like a 6-6 team. Petras can’t make throws to wide open receivers when he isn’t under pressure. Just awful.
Iowa lost this game as much as Iowa State won it.

Don't you dare jinx us Hawkeye scum ?
Tom Tuttle from Tacoma is happy today.
I am, too!

Gophers win 62-10, Wisconsin & Iowa both lose at home to unranked teams. #GloriousDay
Didn't see Marshall beating Notre Dame coming.
20 point underdogs, IIRC...wow.
The spreads in both the Marshall/Notre Dame (-20.5) and Alabama/Texas (+21) were ridiculous bold to take the overs.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Can't ask for a better Saturday, weather and football wise!!!
W. Illinois/Minnesota (-41)... Gophers covered 62-10
Iowa St/Iowa (-3.5)... Iowa St. wins 10-7
Marshall/Notre Dame (-20.5)... Marshall wins 26-21
Washington State/wisconSIN (-17.5)... Wazzu wins 17-14

Every year Iowa seems to find a serviceable QB to give the Gophers fits.
Petras still sucks.
Is daddy calling Jr. into his office tomorrow afternoon?!?!?!

Not in million years. Iowa will ride Petras until he hangs at least three losses on the year.

Nebraska down by 7 in the 3rd to Georgia Southern at home
Quite a few ranked teams have lost already and Florida is in a bit of trouble at home, although at least in their case Kentucky is also ranked.

Does Padilla finally get a chance? How can Ferentz not make a change?
Texas A&M also lost to App State for a top ten shocker

Pro tip: Don't ever schedule App State. See: MI. 😉
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
What a day for the Sun Belt conference. Georgia Southern takes out Nebraska in Lincoln.
We need Scott Frost to get a lifetime contract!
Georgia Southern is actually a pretty good team but that’s gotta be it for Frost right?

App. State, Marshall and Georgia Southern... am I missing anyone?

I don't follow college football that much, but when Notre Dame, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin all lose on the same day, its a great day.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

Don’t forget AND the Gophers win!
What a day. About as perfect a college football Saturday as you’ll get.

His buyout drops from $15M to $7.5M on 10/1 so he’s got a few weeks…
Interesting clause. They’re staring at Oklahoma and a bye week before that, with a couple winnable B10 games after that.
Kansas beats West Virginia by 13..in OT…what what!?!
Kansas beats West Virginia by 13..in OT…what what!?!
Kansas scores the touchdown and PAT on their downs in o.t. then intercepts and runs it back on West Virginia’s downs. You would kind of think the game would be over at the point of the interception.
Hall for BYU throws an awesome 37 yd pass to put them in FG range to win…and the kicker misses the 35 yarder to win…OhT

Why technically he could still fumble it and they could recover it. Until the play is blown dead let it go.
With that said he should just take a knee and not risk it.
Bummer - Frosty can't be that much longer for Nebraska.

He's out come October. His buyout drops drastically 10/1.
Apparently nCAA coaches need to recruit some kickers

For sure!

I love Frost. I want him to stick around forever. He just needs a few more years or decades. We should afford him that time.

Well he’s gone. Frost out at Nebraska
I mean… now I question the school. You were 20 days from 7.5M in savings and you’re not going to hire a coach in that time.
seems dumb. Maybe Pelinni will come back.
Surprising. Figured they'd wait for it to be cheaper. Maybe something was worked out.
The best of both worlds would be the next corn coach continuing the program's downward slide while frosty goes on to have some success at another program.

Albert said it wouldn’t be fair to the team to wait. I’m pretty surprised that Frost’s teams were that poor. He basically had the same record as Brewster but over half his losses were by less than a score
Mickey Joseph is a name I haven’t heard in a really long time.

I don’t know, the Iowa media is calling for the hook for Petras. I can’t see an argument to keep starting him, 9 interceptions and 1 touchdown in his last eight starts.
To me Iowa is playing Nevada next week so you play Padilla to get him comfortable before you start your big ten schedule. Revamp your play calling because it’s not working with the personnel you have with the injuries at key positions.
While that sounds good I see Ferentz just riding this out. Like I said, I see Iowa as a 6-6 team right now. The hill is quite steep to climb to improve beyond that record.
*After reading some more articles on the game and the coaches and players are sticking up for Petras...as they should. It's offensive to use the word offense for the Iowa offense, it's that damn bad. Even Ferentz's worst Iowa teams had better offenses than this one, even the 1-10 team in 1999! So I just don't understand why all the hesitancy to change the player who is playing the worst. Ferentz isn't going to get fired because the other two phases of the game are holding up their end of the game, but he needs to make the switch this week at QB.

Why? He won because of his ability to get good athletes from Florida to...stay in Florida and play a G5 schedule. They aren't going to Nebraska.
His system is predicated on having better talent...he never would at Nebraska. He is not a good in game coach and never really was.
I've seen more punchlines than points in the Iowa offense in the past two weeks!

Closer than I would have guessed.

Iowa released their depth chart for this weekend...Spencer Petras QB1. ? ? ?
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
Here is an offensive offense stat on just how bad Iowa is after two weeks into the season. Iowa is averaging 72 yards per game of TOTAL offense than the team in front of them. The team in front of them is 130 on the list, Jerry Kill's New Mexico State Aggies with 230 yards per game. Iowa is dead effing last at 131 with an average of 158 yards per game.
Kirk Ferentz doubled down at his weekly press conference today and named Petras as the starter on Saturday. Going with that Petras body of work gives him the job. As one reporter has tweeted, "Fans can't buy tickets to practice"...meaning, the body of work that we are seeing means he is other worldly in practice. Like Allen Iverson famously said, "Practice? You talking about practice?"
I stick with Petras will be the starter until Iowa has three losses, by then they will have lost the West and will go into full rebuild for next season. Which is too bad because Iowa's defense and special teams could have gotten them back to Indy. There is NO chance in hell of that happening this season.
The absolutely weird twist in all of this QB drama at Iowa is that over the weekend they just landed James Resar, a three to four star QB from the state of Florida. How they got him to commit while watching a completely inept offense makes me scratch my head.
