The only way you trade Rossi is if you get a similar young guy in return. I feel like we just did that with acquiring Jiricek. It would make sense if he were struggling and you did a swap with another guy needing a change of scenery, but he's stepping up right now. Probably playing himself into an extension right now.

Maybe they aren't convinced to give him an 8 year deal or something, but a 3 year bridge deal should be no problem. Even if guys like Yurov take his spot, a bridge deal is easy enough to trade. No sense in giving him up right now.

I think the problem with figuring out a contract for Rossi is that he will want to be paid for the numbers he's putting up with Kaprizov while the Wild most likely don't see him as that level of player going forward. I think you're right that a 2-3 year bridge deal seems fairly obvious.

As far as trades go, there's a lot of talk that Brady Tkachuk is looking to get out of Ottawa. Rossi was a superstar for the 67's

Oilers vs Wild tonight 7:30pm on ESPN+ (AGAIN)! 🤬        I literally can’t think of a worse regular season home game to not be on tv (Fan Duel) cable 🙁

@bearpaw28 I'm glad they aren't on Fan Duel. I can watch them on ESPN+, when they are not.

Opposite for me, I’m still a dinosaur with cable & refuse to pay for ESPN+ although I know it’s pretty cheap. Having cable I get Fox9+ so many of the Gopher & Jan Brady U games.

Personally, I love having ESPN+. I love the option of watching games out east that I normally wouldn't have access to. Do it!

Yeah I mean for $10 a month or whatever it is, it’s kind of a no brainer.  You get pretty much every NHL game every night and a bunch of college games too.

And you get a break from LaPanta!

My daughter is paying for Hulu and I realized a couple weeks ago that a couple of ESPN+ NHL games every night are one there including Tue nights game and tonight. It’s a nice alternative without really paying more. They are a decent streamer with shows like The Bear and Only Murders and probably have the best lineup of standup specials (If you make me pick I’d still say Netflix solely cause all the Jeselnik specials on there but still…)

Hulu ran a 99 cent per month for a year special on Black Friday. Glad I pulled the trigger on that.

I almost did it too but my daughter gets a student deal where she gets Hulu and Spotify for $10 and she’s not dropping that so I passed.

We already have a good number of subscriptions so I’m also in the boat of flat refusing to pay for another. Not worth it for five games to me.

However, it turns out tonight’s game falls into the “select content” I can watch with our Disney+ sub. Nice!

Took Leon all of 5 seconds to score on the power play. Wild might want to be careful about taking stick penalties tonight. lol

Um, yeah, they're getting lit up at home.

They can beat Anaheim with this roster but not a hot Oilers team. Middleton had one shift tonight before going off. That puck off the hand looked nasty.

Like the Gophers, too many damn injuries.

People like these broadcasts? Don’t get me wrong the Wild are crap tonight, but cripes could they try not mentioning that every five seconds and actually call the game?

I had a bad feeling he broke his hand/finger. Kind of a big loss because he pairs well with Faber and adds toughness to the line up.

I think Middlelton is the biggest loss to this point. Hopefully this is the end of the injuries for a bit. They're in some trouble if things don't start getting better soon.

I just realized Middleton leads the NHL in plus/minus. I know people debate the value of the stat but I think it is notable - especially for defensemen.

After how bad the Wild looked on Thursday, today’s 4-1 win over Philly was important, especially in light of having to play Vegas tomorrow at 5pm.

Not really the ideal 1st game of the season, hope the kid has a great game. Seems to me you would let the kid play against the terrible Flyers and give Fleury the tougher matchup on the b2b.

Just had example 69,815 of NHL officials not knowing what intentional offside is.

Maybe they're afraid of getting fired?

I got fired from the WCHA over an intentional offsides call.  Apparently "nobody should be calling that above Squirts" (and my response to that was not well received)

@karlsson Yeah.  I have been able to watch parts of 2 games this year.  Last week's debacle vs EDM and now this game...

This looks like the same Wild team I have seen year after year.

It's probably for the best that I cant watch the channels they are on I guess.

Everyone looks great when the goalie stops everything. Everyone looks awful when he doesn't.

Brodin has become one of the worst penalty killers I can remember at the NHL level. He makes Spurgeon look tuff.

Fluery not playing well, no doubt.  But they don't even look like they are threatening to score.  It felt like all their shots that period were low percentage, shots from way outside.  I know several guys are hurt, but that was a really weak showing that period by the entire team.

They looked a little better in the third, and then Fluery lets in a muffin.  Back-breaker.

I was gifted a pair of tickets for Tuesday night.  If they look terrible then, you can all blame me.

Any updates on Faber?  Is he going to be missing a chiclet or two?  I didn’t quite see exactly where he got hit but it looked like the mouth area and he ran out that tunnel faster than I can run without skates.  Hope he’s okay.

Brodin and Spurgeon are gifted skaters but neither of them is physically capable on the penalty kill--or in the playoffs. Unfortunately, there aren't enough prototype defensemen like Pietrangelo to go around. Hopefully, Faber can be that type of player once he adds some bulk.

I have been pleasantly surprised by this team but all along in the back of my head I've doubted its legitimacy.  They've been winning by committing to defense and they've gotten good goaltending.  When they don't get it, they aren't the type of team that can dig themselves out of a hole by scoring 4 or 5 goals.

Way to go out on a limb! 😆

I'd like to know how many Wild players have their spring vacation arrangements set for the start of the second round of the playoffs. 😀

THIS…Utahs Vejmlka made 28 saves on 29 shots while Fluery made 16 saves on 18 shots. That’s not a winning formula…Wild need the Gus Bus back soon or they’re in big trouble.
