Knies, snuggerud, and Faber together on the wild may be an impossible scenario but it doesn’t hurt to dream a little.😁 who knows maybe it’s “not weird, wild”

think cooley and lacombe would want to demand a trade and get the gang back together? Having a bunch that roster on a team would be quite the collection of young talent.
My youngest would be in hog heaven if LaCombe came to the Wild. Her favorite team is no longer the Gophers, but the Ducks. So any team Jackson plays for will be her favorite team.

They could even recreate some magic by taking a dump in game 7 of the first round of the playoffs!
The Wild are the first for the major 4, to not make it out the first round 8 times in a 10 year window.

I like to believe they get it right and hoist the cup on the big stage.😁Don’t be such a lay down Larry.😂

Agree... I have a fb folder on my account called Loserville, USA... It's more for humor of our 4 major sports. Though it'll happen the Vikings hoisting the Lombardi or Wild hoisting the Cup!!!

I bet you have A LOT of self portraits in that fb folder. lol!!
Wild have (also) made the playoffs 11 of the past 13 seasons, a distinction I believe they share with only one other team. They are remarkably plucky, but falter when push comes to shove in the playoffs…so VERY MN Pro sport like… 🙁 lolThe Wild are the first for the major 4, to not make it out the first round 8 times in a 10 year window.
But…TWolves are looking to change the narrative…🤠
Again, easy to say from the seats and behind a screen… and not in the heat of battle.
So then by that logic none of us should critize anyone for anything...

Making the playoffs that many times is a cool stat but it also means the team is going to never significantly improve. They will never be towards the top of the draft and they will never sign big name FAs since they will always keep the team together killing the cap.
The Wild are just The Twins...
Agree, EXCEPT the Wild have an owner who actually cares about winning…although they’ve failed miserably in the post season during his tenure.Wild have (also) made the playoffs 11 of the past 13 seasons, a distinction I believe they share with only one other team. It’s a Minnesota thing other then the Frost, Timberwolves, if any team makes the playoffs it usually ends after round 1 of the playoffs, yes the Twins advanced a couple of years ago but lately it’s 1 and done
Aloha!
I have a difficult time even classifying the Twins as a legitimate MN Pro Sports team, that’s how feeble I consider the competitive drive of their ownership group to be!Agree, EXCEPT the Wild have an owner who actually cares about winning…although they’ve failed miserably in the post season during his tenure.Wild have (also) made the playoffs 11 of the past 13 seasons, a distinction I believe they share with only one other team. Defending Nyquist sounds about right for you

Aloha!
The Wild imho get a slight pass considering the albatross that were the Parise/Suter contracts. If they're still pulling 1st round exits their next handful of shots at the playoffs I'll be feel the need to be more critical.

I'm really interested to see how the Rossi saga shakes out this summer. I can't figure out what either side is doing.
If the Wild find a 1C and they keep Ek and Rossi thinks he’s a top 6 guy, how would this shake out?I'm really interested to see how the Rossi saga shakes out this summer. I can't figure out what either side is doing.
If they were able to get a legitimate #1C I would imagine that Rossi would likely be part of that trade. If the Wild find a 1C and they keep Ek and Rossi thinks he’s a top 6 guy, how would this shake out?I'm really interested to see how the Rossi saga shakes out this summer. I personally don't think Rossi can be a center that you can win with. At the same time, if you don't have anyone better, you can't really get rid of him. Guess it depends on what Rossi is willing to sign for. Some of the numbers that have been tossed around are not anything that I would consider paying him.
I do not understand why Kap keeps going back to Russia in the off season, yes it is his home country but with how screwed up the world is right now the Wild should of been able to talk him in to staying in MN for the off season
Aloha!
Rossi is 23 and just had 60 P for a team that can't ever get out of the 1st round, but they don't need him.
If this season's first round punch-out is any measure at all, Rossi is a defensive liability. He plays all three zones but he is not hard on pucks, losing many board battles. It was noticeable against Vegas.
He was demoted to the 4th line for a reason. I doubt it had anything to do with some brilliant match-up strategy. It's more likely that the coach wasn't as impressed with Rossi's vision of himself as a top-six guy.
If that is even remotely true, the Wild won't pay him what he thinks he's worth.
if you're a 60 point center when you're playing with 80-100 point wingers, you're not good enough to play with those wingers. If Rossi isn't good enough to play with Kaprizov and/or Boldy, then you have to determine how many points you can expect him to get on the 3rd or 4th line. You also have to determine what that number is worth in a contract, and if those points are worth his terrible defense.Rossi is 23 and just had 60 P for a team that can't ever get out of the 1st round, but they don't need him.
Eriksson-Ek is in a similar situation where he isn't good enough to play 1st line either, but he was easier to sign because you knew worst case that you were getting a very good 3rd line center and his contract reflects the player that he is. Rossi doesn't have that going for him because he isn't a good defender. A smart team can't pay Rossi top 6 money. IMO

Players like Rossi and Spurgeon are why they’re not getting out of the first round
Billy drafted Rossi in 1st Round, so if he doesn’t want to pay him, he then needs to trade him for 1st round value. Spurgeon is a passable regular season player, but his lack of size & bite greatly diminishes his effectiveness during the playoffs where checks get finished routinely and refs swallow whistle’s. When you’re that diminutive as a D, you have to be a lot better offensively to be a top 4 D in the playoffs & you’d often times be scratched from the 3rd pair.Rossi is 23 and just had 60 P for a team that can't ever get out of the 1st round, but they don't need him.

I agree on Spurgeon, but the jury is still out on Rossi.
@bearpaw28 When you look around the league at teams with top defensemen, Spurgeon doesn't measure up and it's not even close.
He doesn't produce offense like the best nimble defensemen and can't physically shut down an opponent like the the toughest defenders.
He's good but nowhere near elite in any category.
I'm stumped on Rossi. He has decent offensive tools but gets thrown around digging for pucks.

Their name is on the building TRIA rink is in, so I guess it makes sense.
Another far fetched idea, and all for fun. What if the Wild took a page from Doug Woog (only recruiting Minnesota High Schoolers). Though only had a team of Minnesota High Schoolers or played college at one of the 5 D1 Minnesota programs. How good of team could they be? Again, just for fun... paging @j22

From mn versus just played in mn going to lead to some wildly different rosters. The quick ones j22 threw in make a way better roster than the ai one
Do we really count Shattuck as playing MN highschool hockey? Haha. But yea, your list is immediately better than AI. I just thought it was kind of neat that it spit all those out with 1 simple prompt.
