There were a few tackles and trips let go there. Pretty obvious why they’re the least penalized team.

Three consecutive playoffs for the Wild with a 2-1 lead.

0-6 putting your opponent in an elimination situation, while up 3-1 or 3-2.

0-3 with a chance to force a game 7.

So 0-9 after being up 1-2.

Pathetic and soft doesn’t even begin to sum it up.

And ESPN cuts away from Flowers last handshake line for both national anthems in Edmonton. Nice work.

They had amazing goaltending all series and still lost.

Weird game. Wild top line was held to nothing while Hartman was player of the game.

What can you say? It's hard to argue you played better when you lost 3 straight.

Rossi losing so many physical battles, Gaudreau hasn't had a sniff of offense, and the Eichel-Stone line that went missing for a couple of games is back.

The game started in the worst way and has been frustrating ever since.

Hartman has been the Wild's best player this series.

No sugar coating it…they played HARD, but…they’re a…

Bunch of 3 straight playoff losses (after leading 2 games to 1) LOSERS!

Since the Wild joined the NHL (2000-2001, teams who haven’t made the Cup Final…

1) Minnesota

2) Columbus

3) Toronto

4) New York Islanders

5) Buffalo

6) Winnipeg

7) Seattle

8) Arizona/Utah

23 seasons, 24 teams of 32 have found a way to make the Cup Finals.

Keep your stick on the ice...

I am excited to begin the era of the GM not having the cap hell issue, but also the cap hell security blanket. No excuses.

The team that scored the first goal won every game.

I think about all the huge games when the Gophers scored first...and of course lost.

While this is true re-signing Kaprisov is gonna eat up a chunk of that. Our new problem is like half the f’n has no trade contracts

I'm honestly surprised they got this team to the playoffs with all the season setbacks while being hamstrung with cap issues. That was an accomplishment.

The frustrating thing is they played well enough to win this series. For 3 straight games they couldn't finish.

and all those old contracts are another year older. They’ll need Yurov to come in and contribute or many of the cap issues don’t go away when you have an awful lot of guys who are solid bottom 6 guys on the roster.

You have some superstar guys. just making the playoffs is not good enough

said this for forever and then all my friends yell at me and say that’s ek, which is just painfully not what you want as your #1 center. Awesome 2 but not a 1

would need to look at contacts around to see if there’s anyone of note coming free this year. Lot of wings from memory and Bennett, Tavares and Nelson are not as good as Ek at this point in their careers

every team would be very happy with their 2nd center giving them 50-60 points and killing penalties as well as he does. He’s absolutely a solid 2 imo. Exactly what you want out of a 2. Solid points and an extra Trait outside scoring that wins you games

Just a few takes, I thought Hill made saves that he wasn’t sure how. He just seemed so beatable it was so frustrating to lose a series to that. Thought Vegas played their best game tonight even though the wild had the better effort. Faber I just wanna bear hug on the ice sometimes! Just love watching his game. Boldy is right there too. Vegas doesn’t deserve that series IMO, they cashed in on some breaks that were the difference and should feel lucky to come out of it advancing. Refs swallowing the whistle again late I just can’t get over it. Come on! I agree kk was trying to do too much too long constantly. Tough way to go out I thought the wild deserved a better outcome this series. This sucks.

He's only a 50-60 point player when he's playing #1 minutes with a 100 point winger.

Think we’re all a bit of homers, but Vegas won the xG in terms of the series handily. Even game 1 and Vegas actually ahead in games 2-5 with Wild taking game 6. Difference was Gus was way ahead in goals saved over expected with hill being heavily negative before tonight. Wild played well enough to have a chance to advance had they poached one of the ot games

NaturalStatTrick has the series about as even as it could get.

we can agree to disagree. To me his game is a lot like Kopitar’s. Theres only like 40 centers a year who put up those numbers and he does it while also killing penalties. If he puts up 40-50 while doing the same as your 2, that is also perfect given we have multiple “scoring” wings (or at least guys we’re employing that way) in KK, Boldy, Zucc and we’ll see if they slot Yurov on the wing or at center

yup lost by about 1.5 goals, which fits with a 4-2 series where you lose 2 in ot

they absolutely “deserved” from the stats standpoint to win tonight and pretty handily. Prior to tonight they were down almost 3 goals. That was more what I was meaning that Gus in a sense stole those games by being waaaay better than Hill, with Hill outplaying him tonight

And ESPN cuts away from Flowers last handshake line for both national anthems in Edmonton. Nice work.

Thankfully it was on FS…Bally…fan du- whatever the F it’s called now.  We didn’t know that until we thought to check as espn cut away.  Not that I necessarily would have wanted to listen to Lapanta but the espn feed on cable was herky-jerky and glitchy too, it apparently wasn’t just streaming that sucked tonight.

What a gross feeling I have after that game.  Would think I should be used to it by now as a Minnesota sports fan.  ☹️

While it’s infuriating when they choke and lose, it stings more when they played well enough to win and the bounces just didn’t work for them.

The refs clearly weren’t working for us either…(but I know who they were seemingly working for…🤔)

Minneosta hockey teams just breaking my heart all over the place this year.

To me it looked like a completely uninspired effort for much of the game.  The top line looked out of sorts, and for all the love Faber rightfully gets he was not at his best the entire series.

It's obvious the coaches instructed the defensemen to move into the offensive zone. Faber got a little caught up in that tonight and players got out of position.

It felt like Kaprisov was off a step since his injury. His skating looked labored at times. When your sandpaper guy is the best player on the team in the biggest game, you can't expect a favorable outcome.

I will never root for Vegas, so I hope they get steamrolled in the next series.

Vegas as a franchise is a like and their fan base is even a bigger joke. From gifted Franchise Draft which gave them an immediate playoff contender. To a fan base who is a mix of UND and wisconSIN.  They think they are God's gift to the NHL, but they are dumb as rocks when it comes to the game. If you even been to a game in Vegas, it's a zoo/circus. It's very Vegas like in the arena. It's an overkill with everything they do being Vegas themed.

It felt like Kaprisov was off a step since his injury. His skating looked labored at times. When your sandpaper guy is the best player on the team in the biggest game, you can't expect a favorable outcome.

I will never root for Vegas, so I hope they get steamrolled in the next series.

I’ll be rooting hard for McJesus & Edmonton!

As will I, but I have my doubts they’ll pull it off. Edmonton doesn’t play defense the way we do.

PA on the FAN this morning wants the Wild to go after Knies. if Toronto offers him $5M the wild should offer him close to $7M. Toronto could be strapped for cash. This summer in Minnesota has the extra $15M. Though most that money is going to KK and Fabor.

Wild don't have their 2nd round pick for 2026 so they can't offer him enough to make it so the Leafs won't match

Knies will get vastly more than $5 from someone and I'd expect up in the $8 range. There are about 100F who make 5mil and the salary cap is jumping this year so player salaries will rise. He will command a big number as he will be just 23 and doubled his goal count. Think Knies is the one who gets the deal and they cut elsewhere

Forgive me, I'm cap illiterate, but how does the Wild not having a 2nd round pick next year affect what they can offer Knies (or any other fa for that matter)?

Maybe traded that 2nd pick for a guy who doesn’t bother to straddle blue line & stay on-sides with a minute to go in regulation? 🤬

Yes, Nyquist was offsides… Yes, Nyquist should’ve straddle his skate for 1/2 second longer. Yes, it’s easy to blame Nyquist 110% for the Game 5 loss. Though just like Hartman said everyone has been offsides when they should not have.
And it’s always easier to play a sport in the seats or behind a screen…

RFA compensation (unsure if updated for this coming offseason) if team doesn't match the offer sheet

AAV Compensation
$1 - $1,511,701 None
$1,5111,701 - $2,290,457 1 3rd-round pick
$2,290,457 - $4,580,917 1 2nd-round pick
$4,580,917 - $6,871,374 1 1st-round pick, 1 3rd-round pick
$6,871,374 - $9,161,834 1 1st-round pick, 1 2nd-round pick, 1 3rd-round pick
$9,161,834 - $11,452,294 2 1st-round picks, 1 2nd-round pick, 1 3rd-round pick
$11,452,294 or more 4 1st-round picks

Kines will probably fall into that 6-9m AAV range so you MN could offer him 6.8 and eat the 1st and 3rd in comp if toronto doesn't match. But higher (which is where I'd think he'll land) and we don't have a 2nd to give them for next year

Note: he may never hit RFA truly as I'd imagine he is going to be their top priority to resign as it then figures out how much capital they have for the others. Maybe they see if they can get Tavares back early at a discount, but of the guys coming up Marner is the next priority but he's going to take a massive cap punch that may put them out of the running for the other 2 and then teams can try low ball on Knies a bit more

To sign a restricted free agent away from a team, you have to compensate said team with draft picks. Which draft picks are involved depends on the price of the contract. The compensation for what Knies will likely cost is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick in the 2026 draft.

The Wild don't currently have their 2nd round pick, and therefore wouldn't even be allowed to offer Knies a contract in that price range.

Gator, for those who played the sport of hockey growing up, it’s LITERALLY something your taught when you’re 10 years old. There’s MANY takes you can criticize about watching the game on tv. but…  Nyquist’s route was going behind Hartman which makes it even more indefensible. He wasn’t even doing center lane drive to the net, which sometimes you can understand a player going to fast to push the D back!  But his track was not that…which has him #1 idiot in the series!  Fing Peewees straggle the line there! Cmon…

Again, easy to say from the seats and behind a screen… and not in the heat of battle.
