NHL season for Wild fans has turned into the NFL season for Vikings' fans. It feels like it's over.

I do wonder when the Wild go Syracuse Bulldogs on everyone and start taking suspensions and risking deportation where that player's country's refusal to accept him comes into play.

Didn’t help. Neither did the new coach. This team is back in the gutter where they started. Losing by 3+ a night. Gross.

Faber should have stayed for one more year in Dinkytown. This Wild team is a train wreck. At times it seems like he’s the only one out there who is actually trying. Feel bad for the kid.

People complain when they win since there aren't good enough to do anything in the playoffs so winning is just being mediocre and keeping them from getting a good draft pick and complain when they lose.

They currently have the 6th fewest points. They are currently in a good position to get a good draft pick.

People complain when they realize that the team they follow has no idea what direction it's going.

Losing in the 1st round of the playoffs sucks, but it's considered part of the process provided that you learn from the loss and return the following year with a new and improved plan/team. When the plan is to move on from your best defenseman and then bring everyone else back including the coaching staff that got absolutely embarrassed for the 2nd straight season, fans start to wonder.

Getting a top 5 draft pick is never a bad thing for a team. But when you're on pace to do it with a team that you built expecting to compete for a Stanley cup, fans will begin to doubt your thought process. When fans see that you're heading towards a bottom 5 finish in the same year that you threw away multiple assets that could be extremely beneficial to the future of the team, then that's when you're going to see the flat out anger.

Most fans will find a way to get behind a team regardless of what the plan is, but the second that you make it apparent that you have no plan, all bets are off.

Feel bad?  He is showing that he is the best defenseman the Wild have on roster.  Likely playing himself to a nice payday.  Probably with another team though, he might not have enough grit for GMBG.

Oh I don’t know. His stick smash a few games back was pretty gritty. Get into one decent fight and he can have a 10 year extension.

@gopher6 I would agree they are a terrible team, and that MOA should be leveled, but St. Paul is a magical place to play. The parking sucks and the roads were designed by drunken Irishmen, but the area surrounding the X can be a lot of fun.

Nowadays, driving into and parking at any downtown venue is a major pain in the butt.

#2 all times wins, but probably not on most people’s top 10 plus all time goalies list.

for the majority of his career, Fleury has been an average or worse goaltender who just happened to play for good teams. He has no business being in any discussions about the best goalies

Geez you’ll rain on anyone’s parade.  🙄

You sound like one of those parents whose kid’s team wins a big game but the kid didn’t score five goals so you’d tell him he sucked.

Yeah maybe he did play on good teams, but there must have been a reason they kept him on those teams and played him in all those games and it wasn’t because he was the worst goalie ever.   You don’t play that long at that level because you’re “not an NHL level player.”

Be happy for the guy.  It’s an insane accomplishment and he deserves it!  And cool to see it happen in a Wild jersey.

And now you can tell me why I’m a terrible hockey mind.  Dont worry, that is true. 😂

But I’m a fan of the game and can appreciate a great accomplishment when I see one.

So much this.  Anyone that keeps playing long enough to move up to second all-time in wins is doing something right at the position, and has done it for a very long time.

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

MAF has a career SV% of .912. I have no idea if he had the benefit of his teammates forcing more shots to the outside than other top tiered goalies, but that is far from a slouch achievement at face.

Hockey reference chose to compare him to Belfour (.906) and Vanbiesbrouck (.899) fwiw.

you really going to compare a goalie from the 2010's to goalies from the 80's? Seems like that may be a bit flawed.

How does Fleury stack up against the good goalies of his era? Guys like  Lundquist, Luongo, Rinne, Rask, Thomas, Price, Vasilevsky?

And then, just for fun,  check and see where he ranks compared to Wild Guys like Dubnyk,  Talbot, Kuemper, Backstrom, Harding

Looking at Luongo he's a career .917, a difference of 1 goal for every 200 shots faced.

Bill Guerin still thinks this is a playoff team:  https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-wild-playoffs-gm-bill-guerin-draft-picks-roster-injuries/600335369/

I am wondering if we need to sit down with him and discuss his mental health.

If he is dumb enough to give up assets to try and replace Spurgeon on the blue line, he has lost his mind completely. They need to add as many picks as they can this year and next.

Try and trade MAF for maybe a third round pick to a contender who wants some back-up goalie insurance.  I thought Foligno would've been decent trade bait, but not anymore with 4 years @ $4M.  Same with Hartman, he could've netted something, but not at that term and price anymore.  MAF is really the only trade chip we have, however minor it may be, other than now being able to take on some cap from someone.

He pretty much has to say that. He can't just come out and say that he's giving up on the season when they're only half way into it.

He'll trade a meaningless asset for a meaningless player, or maybe get an overpriced player for free. That player will likely have Minnesota ties, so the fan base will get behind the move.

The 1st period was a shooting gallery for the Canes. After the 1st, the shots were 24-16 Canes, so it was more even.  The Wild blocked 21 shots, so that helped.  The non ENG were a tip, a spin around and a greasy goal from the crease. Of course Faber had 2 more assists.

Really getting to the bottom of the barrel of former Penguins. Pretty sure Butcher won the Hobey with Denver back in the day. Little guy that can't really defend. The stats say that he's a decent AHL player. Can't imagine he could be any worse than Mermis or Goligoski
