1 game under .500. Good move.
Crazy how the coach gets the boot and this turn around occur? But, can it last the rest of the season is the true unknown?
This team is injured and a little short on talent, but they've had good goal tending of late and they are willing to work. They gave Pittsburgh and Boston all they could handle while missing 3 of their better players.
No idea how the coaching change figures into this, but players like Boldy and Johansson were slumping badly and now seem to be turning things around.
As I've stated previously, I have no big expectations for this team, but it's fun to watch a team work this hard. I'm also seeing Faber get big minutes, and he's handling the pressure. What a break that the Wild got him.
The common theme/trope/cliche is that the former coach just lost his voice, and players needed a new one. They get that jump of renewal/rejuvenation. How long it lasts? Who knows?
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Couldn't watch the game, but got to see some of the highlights.
I know MAF's best days are behind him, but as a goalie who played and grew up in the 90s, man is it fun to watch him sometimes. When he is on, with some of those desperation saves... Some of it is a throwback, some of it is just throwing equipment at the puck hoping you catch a piece of it. He is such a happy guy out there too, talking to his posts, smiling, laughing and seems to be enjoying himself. He seems like a guy who knows how lucky he is to play a game for a living.
I grew up a Patrick Roy fan, and his record has already been beat, but good for Fluery. I am glad a guy like him will pass that mark and not some miserable pr*ck like Binnington.
I am going to miss seeing him out there, with the energy and happiness he brings to the game, and the occasional sliding 2-pad stack. Like the hip-check, it is a dying art haha.
From some clips I have seen, it looks like Wallstedt might have a similar energy to him. I hope he does and is as good as advertised.
I agree. Faber has been very impressive, he has played over 30 minutes in each of the past two games. The media has been in love with Bedard and basically anointed him the Calder winner on draft night and he is very talented, but for Faber to step and play as well as he has he deserves some serious rookie of the year consideration. He will not put up a ton of points, but his play is way beyond his age and experience.
Funny how being a Gopher fan, that whenever Faber makes a great play or announcers praise him, as a Minnesotan and former Gopher I feel a little pride like a father, almost, even though I have Zero to do with his success. Of course the fact he seems like such a nice, well-grounded guy (kid) doesn't hurt.
From what I’ve heard and seen, Wallstedt is much calmer between the pipes than Fleury when play is going, but nearly as much of a character when it isn’t. Could be a best of both worlds situation.
So what is the update regarding Lettieri’s injury
Aloha!
I would not want to get hit by Foligno. Headhunter

Montreal might dive more than UMD
What a pass from Johansson. Wow.
To say Faber is on a ROLL is an understatement. Essentially hadn’t played on the power play (at least not the first unit) since OMG Bantam AA days and tonight he scores on power play. He’s just keeping things simple & doing an amazing job in all aspects of his play…just surreal.
97 has regained his jump.

Give the guy the C already
I know Faber wears glasses when he is not playing hockey does he have contacts in when playing hockey?

I wonder how many people are still ok with Guerin throwing away 4 years of Wild hockey and tearing apart a roster all I. The name of character and culture?https://twitter.com/russohockey/status/1738584929980592181?s=46&t=UtlPiq7Vt1Te97QT76L7LQ

Yeah, super strange that someone would discuss the Minnesota Wild general manager in the Minnesota Wild threadI wonder how many people are still ok with Guerin throwing away 4 years of Wild hockey and tearing apart a roster all I. Maybe some day the Bruins will get good enough to beat the Wild but not this season.
Hard to believe (to this guy - some of you might not have been as surprised) that Brodeur has that much distance between himself and #2 for W.

I was surprised, too. I thought Brodeur and Roy would have been closer with a bigger gap after that.

Well, I obviously have no details, but in general, there’s no law against being an asshole. I am in no way defending either party and have no information to do so, but if Guerin is running around swearing at people, it’s not illegal. The Wild have to decide if they’re ok with it and what type of culture they want to bread. From the outside these situations are really hard to vet. You see it in the NCAA portal everyday, a player isn’t “happy” with some little thing and they jump into the portal. A coach takes things too far and is fired. Truth is often somewhere in the middle.

Brodeur my favorite goalie all time, I guess it’s because he helped Neal Broten win the Cup⭐️
Aloha!
Wild are now 11-3 since John Hynes took the reins. Winning without Brodin, Spurgeon & Zuc…
Just another win tonight.
Team has gotten themselves back over .500 and in the playoff race. Certainly lots of season left and they can’t keep at this pace, but 11-3 and back into playoff contention isn’t what I expected, even with a new coach surge.

Sooooo....what's going on here? A coaching shake-up often seems to generate a sharp short-term turnaround, but something about this feels different. Does Hynes bring an element of structure that has the team playing better hockey? It seems to me that players are doing a nice job of staying in their positions while playing a responsible defensive game. Another hallmark of this team is effort. It's almost always there.
It helps that Brodosian has improved steadily each game and that Faber is a burgeoning star, but the entire team seems to be on the same page lately.

Its easy to forget how long Brodeur played at an elite level and pretty much exclusively on elite level teams. He was almost never injured and played 70 plus games a year. His longevity ensured that he would lap Roy for the wins record. I'd still take Hasek as the all time best, but nobody did it as long as Brodeur.

1) I think goaltending has improved
2) I think the Wild were underperforming notably - I assumed them to be a .500ish team and they were not heading into the change
3) A new coach will make some changes, and apparently they’re good ones it seems
Gus Bus left after the 2nd period today with a lower body injury. Wallstedt is injured in Iowa as well.. Also, 97 left the game after a couple of cross checks to the back. Wild lose 4-2.

Surprise surprise they couldn’t get out of a game against Winnipeg without injuries.
Until the Wild give it right back to them it's going to continue.
The wild have pat maroon and I've been told over and over that fighting polices the game so there's no problems with this
Middleton did fight Dillion shortly after the hit on 97. I have a feeling today will be a feisty game.
