UN FN BELIEVABLE
Wild score 5 goals in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd. Lead 8-5

Good Lord. I didn't know they were playing but saw that first update noted above pop up on my Score app. Trying to remember the remaining sequences of when I checked my phone:
2-0 VAN after 2 SOG (wtf?)
4-1 VAN then 5-2 VAN (here we go again)
5-4 VAN (so you're saying there's a chance)
5-3 VAN goal disallowed (but of course!)
Then I saw a condensed pop-up, saw an 8 and I assumed that meant 8 for VAN (these guys suck!)
Wait a second...
8-6 MIN (I knew they could do it!!)
Nice easy 10-7 win. Never a doubt.

The Wild scores 10 goals against the best team in the NHL. Vancouver leads the NHL in both points and goal differential.
Before today's game they were giving up an average of 2.6 goals per game so Wild just put up 4 games worth against them.
3 hat tricks in the game. 🤣😂
Is that some kind of record 3 in a game or the Wild with 2 in a game.

This sums up a Minnesota sports fan perfectly.
Joel Ericksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov both had 6 points today (3 goals and 3 assists).
Ericksson Ek has 28 goals this season in 55 games so he is on pace for a 42 goal season.
The Wild have now beaten Vancouver 10 of the last 11 times they've played.

The Canadians had 4 in 1 game way back in 1920. There have been 7 teams with 3, with the Kings the most recent in 1992.( Dave Snuggerud scored for the visiting Sharks that day ) There are quite a few with 2 like the Wild had. After a quick look, none of the other games had hat tricks on both sides with games with 3 or more. Way too many with 2 to check the other teams.

With all those goals and Faber couldn’t find the score sheet… 😲

Wow. I didn't believe the score on Google and had to come check here.
I was at work and forgot my phone at home so didn’t even get the score updates. (I didn’t even know they played so early anyways).
Watched the condensed game - 8 minutes of 17 goals - Nuts! I bet that was one fun game to attend in person!
This is what Wheeler thinks of Stramel.
6. Charlie Stramel, C, 19 (University of Wisconsin)
After conversations with scouts or folks at the national program about Stramel when he was there (in advance of playing his draft year in college for the Badgers), I always felt I wasn’t quite where they were in terms of their belief in the player and his upside. That continued to start last year as he struggled to have a real impact with the Badgers early on as a freshman (albeit it a young one, and albeit on a bad/at-times lost team). He started to come on before last year’s world juniors in Halifax, though, and then he was good in a bottom-six role for Team USA and played quite well in college down in the second half, renewing the hope and belief many had in him. That was encouraging enough for the Wild to take him at No. 21 in the draft (he was No. 37 on my list). He hasn’t looked like a first-round pick this year, though. Between early season injury issues, a struggle to assert himself as he had in some impressive stretches against his age group coming up and low-end production have made for a worrisome cocktail.
Still, there are tools there to work with and push him along. Nicknamed “Big Rig” when he was at the program, Stramel is a heavy kid whose athletic, muscular build jumps out at you right away. His strength complements a competitive, physical, forechecking, middle-lane style that makes good use of his length and includes a hard wrister from midrange. He can push into space. He’s got decent hands when he pushes through the middle.
Scouts were fascinated by his power-forward package and size down the middle (following a move to center from the wing as a 16-year-old). I have questions about his talent level, processing and pace, though. He too often looks like the third guy on his line. I don’t see enough playmaking or sense and he’s a little sluggish from a standstill through his first few strides (once he gets moving, his stride actually has good power and he’s a decent skater for his size on the whole). When he’s around it, he can be a handful. But getting around it consistently enough at higher paces has proven to be a bit of a challenge and his decision-making can look a little slow. He may become a good, hard and heavy bottom-six player at the next level in time, but that’s probably a best-case scenario and there’s another scenario where he doesn’t develop enough to get there.

Look for the "-" marks. 😫
Unfortunately for him, he was on the ice for a few of Vancouver's goals.
This is what Wheeler thinks of Stramel.
I've seen him play only a handful of times, and for the Wild's sake, I was hoping for a Trent Klatt-like player.
After reading Wheeler's update, I'm concerned the Wild burned a draft pick.

I don’t put much weight in +/-, especially for defensemen.
I don't either but it's a bit of an anomaly that in a 10-goal game, Faber came out on the negative side of the scoring. Bad luck I guess.
So on top of the Wild's three hat tricks, JT Miller of Vancouver also had a hatty? 17 goals in the game and four hat tricks?
yeesh.
3 hattys total. Eriksson Ek and Kaprizov for the Wild, Miller for the CanucksSo on top of the Wild's three hat tricks, JT Miller of Vancouver also had a hatty? 17 goals in the game and four hat tricks?

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Look for some fights tonight, the Jets have a history of taking cheap shots on highly skilled players
Aloha!

I blame the cheesedicks, especially the previous staff.

How is a 0 on the negative side?

I didn't check the box score...were all of the goals scored on special teams when he was on the ice?
I didn't look that closely, I just looked at the player stats via the Score app. There were several players with a negative including Zucc despite having 4 points. 🤣

Seems like anything that could go in did go in for the Jets tonight. Jets were firing at a 20% clip.
For the second straight game, Wild goal tending not sharp.
I know every team has to do it, but traveling and playing a second consecutive game is ridiculous.
Faber's play has come back to earth a bit. He has had a few more turnovers in the past few games that he didn't make earlier. Could be getting worn down a bit from all of the minutes he has been playing.

Yeah those were hideous.
The top line is on fire. Boldy's stick work is world-class.
Ek took an awkward fall into the end boards...can't afford to have him out for even a couple of weeks...there are too many holes already.
This team is now performing like I'd expected them to this season, not necessarily the individual players, but overall. They're slightly above .500 and I sort of pegged them for a .500ish team. I don't think the playoffs are happening this season, but stay over .500, be a little better next season, then be ready to go in 25-26 when you're out from under the financial constraints and bad deals.
Considering the players out for long stretches this season and the platoon of backup players taking their place, it's a minor miracle they're still hanging on. Imagine if that top line had a supporting cast. This team would be good. This team is now performing like I'd expected them to this season, not necessarily the individual players, but overall. Once both sides are comfortable it satisfies the requirements for a contract release, the Wild will be able to sign the 21-year-old to his two-year entry-level contract. A team source says the plan is to burn the first year of his contract and have him report to Minnesota once his U.S. work visa and immigration papers are complete.
During that time period, the Wild will be able to designate Khusnutdinov to non-roster status, an NHL source said. While his pro-rated average annual value will count against the cap, this will buy the Wild time to create roster room. As of now, they’re at the maximum 23 players, so to fit Khusnutdinov on the roster, they would need to place a player on waivers, trade a player or sustain an injury that would require the player to be placed on injured reserve.
If for some reason Khusnutdinov’s work visa wasn’t complete until after the March 8 trade deadline, all of this is moot because teams can exceed the 23-player roster limit after the trade deadline as long as they’re cap compliant. He would still be playoff eligible, though, as long as his NHL contract is signed.
The Wild envision Khusnutdinov developing into a middle-six center and think he is ready for the NHL. He has 162 regular-season games and 32 playoff games of experience in a men’s league and plays a mature, 200-foot game. He’s versatile enough to play up and down one’s lineup. He’s solid away from the puck, is very fast, a ball of energy, a 50 percent faceoff guy in the KHL and has the skill to make plays

Has there been any opinions about how Sammy Walker is down in the farm club and Letteiri is on the Wild roster? Seems like a political call with Lou Nanne in his corner. I can see how team moral would be affected with obvious talent sitting in Des Moines and the favorite grandson getting a coveted roster spot. Letteiri has been through many teams and ended up back home. Walker was a three year gopher captain and play maker.
So who is better Walker or Letteiri?
Chisholm will remember that play for a while. Woof.
What is the Wild's record against the central division? 2-12?
EDIT: Had to look it up
0-3 vs WPG, 0-3 vs DAL, 0-1 vs COL, 1-1 vs NSH (about to be 1-2), 1-1 vs ARZ, 2-0 vs CHI
So 4-10. But 0-7 versus the top 3, and 4-2 versus the other 3. Including 2 wins against Chicago who is not really an NHL team right now.
Wild had a nice run but it's starting to feel like they're buckling...a tough loss a couple of nights ago in a game they maybe should have won and tonight they looked tired and had a hard time keeping up with Nashville.
U-G-L-Y
Both teams were crap in the first, both teams were good in the second, things fell apart for the Wild when they had to sell out in the third. I think the goaltenders are the reason the score looks gross. If Gus plus like Saros maybe 2 or 3-1? Likewise if Saros plays like Gus it is 6-4. Either way a big fat L to a team you’re trying to catch.
The fact that the Wild are an above .500 team shows just how flawed the OT loser point system is. In the 3-Point system, the Wild are a .433 team. That seems a little more accurate.
Gaudreau 4 more seasons with a M-NTC. Johansson with one more year and a NTC. Hartman 3 more seasons with a NMC. Just saying.
I know it won't happen, but I'd want the NHL to go the way that B1G, PWHL have gone... EVERY game is 3 pts, whether it goes to OT or not.
EDIT: I mean.. I'd REALLY prefer they go back to 2 pts. Regulation or OT win is 2 pts... and after 5 min OT, it's just a tie and both teams get 1. But, not holding my breath for that.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

The system works perfectly if the idea is to have as many teams/fan bases as possible believe that their team is good. The fact that the Wild are an above .500 team shows just how flawed the OT loser point system is. In the 3-Point system, the Wild are a .433 team. That seems a little more accurate.

Just wait until Billy re-signs Fleury, Maroon, and Bogosian.
