Should have gone back to the Spiders
I don’t think it is the same lineage but it would be a very cool name and something the city could embrace.
You are correct. The Spiders were a National League and were out of business before the American League started. The Spiders owners bought the St Louis franchise, which was going broke and moved all the Spider’s top players to St. Louis. The Spiders final season they had a 20-134 record. Worst MLB record ever. Owners owning more than one team was prohibited after that.

Half way to home plate this two pitches were in the same location......the next 30' 3" were VERY different.
Dodgers load up with Scherzer and Trea Turner but lose their top two prospects to do it.
Joey Votto with homers in seven straight games. The record is eight by Dale Long, Don Mattingly and Ken Griffey Jr.

For those of us heading to Boston for the Frozen Four, the Red Sox will be at home thru Weds April 6th, and then go on the road on Thursday the 7th.

We did the stadium tour last FF there but have not seen a game in person yet. Thanks for the heads up!

Wife, daughter and I also did the tour which we thought was pretty amazing.
RIP J.R. Richard. My friends and I threw out our arms so many times trying to imitate his heater.
I went to the Twins/Reds game in Cincinnati last week. Not counting Target Field, it was the 9th ballpark that I've been to. If I were to rank them, it would go:
1) San Francisco
2) San Diego
3) Baltimore
4) Denver
5) Cincinnati
6) Anaheim
7) Milwaukee
Wrigley
9) Oakland
Yeah... Wrigley is way overrated. There, I said it.

Where does target field fit in that list? I’ve only been to Milwaukee and Wrigley of that list.

It is overrated. But Wrigleyville somewhat makes up for it. Whereas the area near Guaranteed Rate/US Cellular Field (White Sox) is unsafe and not someplace to hang out. Even though the White Sox stadium is better than Wrigley, I would go to Cubs games 100 times out of 100 before a Sox game.
IMHO this site is among the best at ballpark reviews and ratings. Also a good follow if you're on FB.

The reviewer removes Dodger, Wrigley & Fenway from the overall ranking as it's really hard to compare these classics with the other 27 ballparks and I think he's spot-on in this assessment.
This reviewer places Target Field in very elite company.
1) San Diego
2) San Francisco
3) Pittsburgh
4) Detroit
5) Minnesota
6) Baltimore
7) Colorado
Cleveland
9) Atlanta (Sun Trust)
10) Yankee (new)

Ranking of stadiums I have been to.
Kansas City
Philadelphia

Washington
King Dome (Demolished. It was a dump, but at least not located on south side of Chicago)
White Sox

He overrates the Washington DC stadium. There is nothing special about it. The other rankings are accurate to my experience.
I've been to two White Sox home games, one at night and one day, and didn't felt uncomfortable at either.
Now maybe if there were not the large group of people around it would have been different. My biggest complaint of the stadium is it faces away from downtown. So stupid to turn your back on the greatest skyline (IMO) in the US.
I felt more nervous getting on the freeway from the Detroit stadium as it was a little sketchy.
EDIT - I went to a Kingdome game, too. AWFUL!

I'd probably put Target Field between Denver and Cincinnati. I'm not as high on Target Field as a lot of people are. Mostly because of it's location. I think we missed a golden opportunity to put the ballpark on the river (like Pittsburgh). Instead, we shoehorned it in next to a garbage incinerator and a homeless shelter. :conf2: .

I took the L to and from the game. I left the game before the end and had to walk virtually by myself to the L station. It was sketchy.
It also didn’t help we were stuck on the tracks at one point, waiting for construction, as two twenty somethings were threatening the life of an old lady. I thought it was going to be my last day.

Guaranteed Rate Field does have the nicest kids area I've ever seen at a ballpark.

Kansas City also has a huge kids area with rides, batting cages, and mini golf. I was shocked.

The best part at KC is the hall of fame exhibit. It has air conditioning. That and one the slushee cocktails is a good way to cool down when you attend a 100+ degree day there and are sliding off your plastic seat.

I suppose sliding off is marginally better than being completely stuck to that plastic seat...

He could have (should have) been a Twin. The Twins drafted Nick Gordon instead. ? God that made me bitter. I loved watching Turner in college. He was so good.
MLB's version of the Winter Classic is on tonight. I may actually tune in for a few innings.

I have been watching very little baseball this year but this Field of Dreams game is pretty cool. They should def do this every year if not a couple times. The wonky strike zone from the ump showing one of the flaws MLB needs to fix on the big stage.
This Field of Dreams game might be the coolest thing I've ever seen.
This has been some of the coolest drone shots I’ve seen, especially the shot going into the house
Also, Jose Abreu has the dumbest beard look I’ve seen outside of a full Amish nonsense
Impressive AB for Judge
I hate both these teams but that was an epic game
Joe Buck is an absolutely excellent commentator. So many PBP guys try to editorialize and explain why something is so amazing.

People don't like Buck because he's not afraid to share an opinion every once in a while. And literally everyone thinks he hates their team, so you KNOW he's objective, lol.
I know he's extra hated in MN because of "what a disgusting act", but the dude's a great announcer IMO.
I think Joe Buck's call of the Minnesota Miracle has muted some of the hate. He's not Kevin Harlan but he's a very good announcer.

I wasn't even a fan of the Randy Moss persona, but the Buck spasm that night was clearly over the top and intended as a moral reprimand. Instead of making Moss look like a reprobate, it simply validated Buck's status as a complete and merry fool.
The fact of the matter is that Moss merely performed an "air" mooning. Mooning was among the popular hijinks of the 1950s and high school kids did it even in the '70s - along with full monty streaking!
If I recall, the story is that a Packer's fan(s) mooned the Vikings' bus at it wheeled into the stadium, and this was the impetus for the Moss retaliation. Whatever. By listening to Buck, one might have thought Moss pulled his whizinator out of his pants.

I was mainly harassing you. I really don’t mind him myself but given I stopped watching pro football a few years ago I hardly ever hear his work anymore
He did learn a few things from his dad for sure though
Buck sucks for reasons well beyond the Moss call.
He actually did pretty well during his guest stint as Jeopardy host.
