The offense line got NO push.
This is why all the talk about outlawing the tush push is ridiculous. PHI is so good at because of Kelce at center.
It should be outlawed because it is stupid.
Coming from you that makes me love it. There’s really nothing wrong with it and whatever convoluted way they would come up with to get rid of it would be dumb. Once Kelce retires this will be a non-issue.
It is really easy to outlaw by not letting offense players push the player with the ball which was the old rule.
Then you could just have the second level of players push the linemen instead of the ball carrier. More judgement calls by the refs is not what the NFL needs.
For decades it was the rule and there was no problems.
Innovation. Once the coaches came up with this idea and it works you know they would continue to try it even if they have to change the implementation. I look at it like the Gretzky red line rule. You can’t make a rule cause one player is really good at something. Nobody does it anywhere near as well as PHI and some teams are really bad at it, including the Vikings.
Let’s go back to letting guys jump off linemen to block FGs. Only the Vikings were really good at it.
Good Lord KOC and Flores could not have done worse if they tried. The pass play at the 1, the two tush push calls in a row using one of the smallest players on the team, insisting on going prevent and/or not blitzing toward the end of the game, not going with Chandler for a long stretch...
I didn’t think the Vikings would win this game and they of course somehow turned it into a bad loss.
I think every drunk 70 year old in Minnesota is calling Whine Line
Coaching decisions always look bad when the play doesn't work. Players make plays. Our players made more plays in the first three quarters. The Bengals players made more plays in the 4th quarter/OT.
Coach gave the O line two chances to move the ball less than a yard and then didn't do it. Anything can happen on one play but for the O line to get manhandled two straight plays was bad.
That is such a disappointing loss. Man that sucked.
The OL has been awful in third and short and fourth and short all year so lets try to do that twice
The outcome is on KOC he really botched this game. Some bizarre playcalling in the second half.
Flores didn't have a great game coaching either.
Flores got outcoached hard in the second half. Not often we've seen that.
The next evolution of the tush push the QB toss. 🤣
It was a stupid decision to use a 170-pound player for the tush push. Twice. Yes players need to execute, but the coaches need to put the team in the best possible scenario. They didn't.
I did not realize the tossing snowballs at Santa game happened all the way back in 1968 and included the Vikings. Unfortunately there's no footage of that. But I love these old-timey video montages and Summerall has the perfect voice for it. The YT video is a great Jim Gaffigan bit on the snowball tossing event:
Its too late now. They get a middle of the pack draft pick with 7+ wins. It made sense early. The Vikings had a chance to make the playoff with the back ups but they were never going to win the SB.For all the people who want them to lose this season for higher draft picks (each round) you should be happy.
Yeah draft pick win.
Which is why a coach and GM should discuss 'tanking' in the sense that they're going to try and develop a QB for the future (Hall) and if he's a bust they earn a better draft pick and regroup. But if KOC feels like his job was on the line he's going to do everything he can to win games, and you're right in that they were never going to do squat in the playoffs with Dobbs or Mullins.
It does suck when you think you’re going into a game which you anticipate a loss. But, the Vikings give you hope to just rip out your heart in the end.
Only worst tush push would have been JJ and then he got hurt. I take that back, KOC himself. Nobody got fooled on that play.
Hard to envision the Vikings going better than 1-2 in their final three games. Given that the Lions are at Dallas in two weeks, they're going to go balls to the wall against the Purple in games 15 and 17.

Packers/Vikings SNF on New Year's Eve might get flexed to Miami @ Baltimore or Cincy @ KC. Beer vending a New Year's Eve game could be epic, but it's GB/MN, so it'll be good regardless.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Well, dang, that could put a damper on my plans. There is a small group of smokers (including the caretaker) that have the social room reserved for the game that night...

I heard all the stories and lived a block away until I bought a house in Rosemount. I saw all the repairs either driving past or going to vend beer. And this $62M has nothing to do with USB. It's the surroundings areas around USB.

MN-GB will NOT be flexed.

What is KOC doing on these 4th down play calls?
Mullens and Dobbs have shown why some QBs are career backups.
Meanwhile a live look at Cousins’ agent.

Mullens at QB is quite the roller coaster
Worst tackling game of the season for the D
The Vikings are piling up plenty of penalties today as well. The off sides before the 2 minute warning in the 1st half may have been the dumbest one I have seen in a while. Everyone knows the Lions were just going to run it down to the 2 minute warning, except the DL that jumped...
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
What an epically bad throw.
How bad is Jaren Hall in practice?!?! He is actively taking a safety every snap? Handing it off to the defense on accident???
Mullens just hands the ball away all game long.
I mean losses are better for the Vikings at this point, but my god, how deflating to just watch him give the ball away all game long.
What an epically bad throw.
What a dud of a throw! He had Jefferson too! Not a great look as they get their fourth INT of the game.
Detroit did everything to give the game away. Just fall on the Mullins fumble instead of trying to pick it up. Then after the winning INT, just go down right away instead of running with it for some yards.

D not good enough, but if Vikings had an average QB, they would have won today. I don't see the Lions as much of a playoff threat.. they remind me of the Vikings playoff teams of the past decade...good enough to make it but not much more than a tune up for their opponent.
It's a scratch year for the fans, but the Vikings' office should be held accountable for a glaring lack of support behind Cousins.
Cousins injury, 3 terrible back up QB’s season is over
Aloha!
If the Vikings lose the last two games a top 10 pick is a distinct possibility. They are currently 15th.
The Bears and Falcons play next week
The Falcons and Saints play the last week
The Raiders and Broncos play the last week
If the Vikings beat the Packers they go into the last week of the regular season with their playoff chances still alive.
If they win out can they still miss the playoffs? If so that is their most likely outcome. 🤣

What do you expect them to have as a backup QB? It is a rare thing to have a backup who can play the majority of a season let alone one good enough to make the playoffs. Heck there are teams with starters that are barely able to play well a whole season.
Usually when the starter goes down the season is a wash you either hope to lose enough for a good pick or get lucky and make a run based on everything else the team has to offer.
I am trying to figure out how the vikes keep Cousins, Jefferson, Hunter and upgrade where they need help (cornerback for example). In addition, if Wonnum has a full quad tear, this is a very serious injury. Hope for him I am wrong, but this could be bad for his career...
Unless Hall is a keeper (and maybe the next two weeks help determine that), what are the QB options beyond resigning Cousins?
Hall or Dobbs (Neither of whom had enough reps to make a call — BTW Dobbs QBR is only slightly less than Joe Burrows)?
Justin Fields if the Bears go QB in draft? Would he be better with a better team around him?
Someone else?
Unfortunately the plan for a competitive rebuild has been further derailed due to several injuries.
The NFL cannot find 32 quality starting QB’s. There’s no way you can expect 2nd and 3rd stringers to be good. The NFL is made up of 100 journeyman QB’s who just rotate around rosters making $5M a year.
