CAM BYNUM!!!!
He has some pretty bad coverage misses at times but my goodness he can make some phenomenal plays for interceptions.
Things I figured wouldn’t happen right there.

I am gobsmacked.
Nice game by both Viking safeties
One of those PI calls was basic NFL play, it was soft. Not having grounding called on Kirk when he spiked it. Things like that.MN getting some home-town calls, that's for sure. That being said, MN is def outplaying SF.
Hometown calls like what?
He spiked it at the feet of CJ Ham. Now, I agree that plays like that SHOULD be called intentional grounding because they are literally intentionally grounding it, but the rule says if there is a receiver in the area it's fine. And CJ Ham is an eligible receiver.
It wasn't near the area of a receiver. I know the rule, they got away with one. And I'm a Kirk Bobo (c) KFAN
If we're talking about the same play, go back and watch it. It was like 3 yards from CJ Ham (Cousins spiked it to the left side of the formation). Again, IMO that should be called intentional grounding because it's literally the QB's intent to ground the ball. But the rule is what it is.
If it's one I missed then I missed it.
LOLOLOLOL, we agree that it should be IG. Just missing a connection/communication/interpretation. Too funny.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Over the last 3 seasons only 2 QBs have thrown for 300+ and 2 TDs in a win against the 49ers defense.
Kirko Chainz and some guy named Mahomes.

It's not an interpretation. The rulebook says it isn't intentional grounding. So it isn't. I think the way that rule is written is not very good, but the NFL doesn't ask me to write the rules.
Great game by Cousins but the whole team really met SFs level of physicality and brought it every play. COULD be a spark to make the season watchable, upcoming games are def winnable.
That was IG all the way. Inside the tackle box, not even close to the attempted receiver. MN got a break, for once. I honestly am happy for them, no snark.

Buynum picks off Purdy for the 2nd time.
PRIME TIME COUSINS, Addison, Powell, Hockinson and the Defense comes up HUGE getting 3 takeaways and holding the Niners to 17 points.
Cousins throws for 378 yards (without the best receiver) against the best defense in the NFL.
Purdy hits the open man unfortunately for him Bynum wears purple.
The Niners can't cover Addison. He has 110 yards and the Niners have also taken multiple penalties holding/interfering with him.
That route he ran that drew the illegal contact on this drive was perfect. He hits the out and turns his head like he's expecting a pass which draws Ward up (IIRC it was Leber who pointed this out, a lot of young WRs don't turn their head on a double move like that so CBs don't bite on it) and then turns up field and Ward has to hit him or it's an easy touchdown.

The cool thing is, this win is such a Minnesota result. Everyone's excited until we miss the best draft pick we need by one place.
How many times has a new GM and head coach started their NFL career going 16-8 in their first 24 games?
The Vikings turned the ball over a ton in the first 3 games of the seasons but now have turned it over only 5 times total in the past 4 games going 3-1 with the only lose being a one score loss to the Chiefs.
This team doesn't have a lot of margin for error but they played the Eagles, Chiefs and Niners all really tough.
With a new GM and coach it is about getting better and they are showing signs.

This team is a .500 team so this win will likely be the difference of picking around 17th rather than around 15th. When you are building a team with a new head coach/GM wins like this are a building block.
Great team win but the game ball goes to the O line. Zero sacks, 70% 3rd down conversions, and they ran the football to boot. They punted once against the best D* in football.
* The sports jockeys will be debating this all week.

It's a joke. 🙂

With the division the Vikings are in, they were never realistically going to be vying for a top 5 pick unless they sold off Kirk, Hunter, and like 3-4 other guys.
The Bears are bad, the Packers are bad, and they still play the terrible Broncos and terrible Raiders (albeit both games on the road) plus the mid-ass Falcons and Saints.
So it isn't. I think the way that rule is written is not very good, but the NFL doesn't ask me to write the rules.
Aikman also made the comment that the refs should look at the rule...something about no air under the ball equates to no intention to complete a pass.
But by that logic, will they change the rule about throwing out of bounds 30 feet over a guy's head for the same reason?

Exactly. Both scenarios the QB is logically intentionally grounding the ball, but by the way the rule is written there is "a receiver in the area" even though the pass is absolutely not catchable.

The league will always lean offense and protecting the QB. This ain’t happening.

Kirk was outstanding. Brian Flores has made a ginormous impact already. What a great win!
Dare I say they've had an actually functioning NFL OL the past few games.

Aloha!
The Vikings have won 9 consecutive games when Greg Joseph misses an extra point.

Maybe just build this into the game plan the rest of the way

A rushing TD!!!!
Kind of insane that it is week 8 and that was the first one.
At this point it's a tossup over who is causing more problems for the green bay offense, the Viking defense or the packer offense.

Addison is reminiscent of a young electrifying Anthony Carter…the kid is really fun to watch!
Vikings have had 2 chances at turnovers on this drive but converted neither. Need to stop GB from scoring after giving them extra chances.
Vikings challenge a catch that obviously wasn’t and end up getting called for a penalty which also wasn’t. That might be one of the dumber things I’ve seen an NFL ref do.
They’re gonna regret letting these guys stay close.
Doink!
But there is a flag...

OBVIOUSLY offside. How does that happen?
When you look back at the ball you'd think something would click.... ?

That’s not just once, but TWICE that’s happened this season. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! ?OBVIOUSLY offside. How does that happen?
They should be killing the Packers…need a TD scoring drive to open 2nd half.
Looked like the entire defensive line on the center's left side was lined up offsides. That's not good. Free 3 points after a dropped INT, un-recovered fumble, and second chance on a doinked FG because the entire line was offsides.
87 has the yips.
Nevermind!

Josh Metellus pulls a Jordan Addison and steals the ball away from the Packer receiver!!!!!
Next play another Jordan Addison TD!!!
