No need to muck up the Gopher BB thread with tournament shenanigans.
#13 Oakland hanging with #3 Kentucky approaching halftime. Gohlke for OAK is 7-13 from 3! Yes making 7 threes in a half is crazy but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player jack up 13 shots from downtown in a half.
Gohlke now with 10 threes, the record is 11. 4 minutes left OAK by 2.
Kentucky fans have entered full on panic mode.
And almost everyone with money on a bracket is with them.

This game is crazy!
29 seconds left and Oakland is up by four. KY ball.

lol, I just looked it up, too.
Auburn Hills is in Oakland County, MI so it must be related to that.

That was a great game and why we watch .
Oakland enrollment 12K
Kentucky enrollment 30K
Gohlke in the postgame interview grabs the mic at the end and says “we’re not a Cinderella” that a great attitude

Wow that’s pretty amazing. Good for them.
I’m wondering if that’s the beginning of the end for Calipari? He’s won 1 tournament game in the last 3 years and also lost in the first round as a 2 seed 2 years ago. That’s not gonna do it at Kentucky.
Calipari is such a scumbag.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
That baseline 3 with 20 some seconds left was killer. Love the back end of the one and one free throw to make it a 4 pt lead with just seconds left after the timeout. No pressure on that one😎
edit: he was shooting two and missed the first one so not a one and one.
I can’t remember the year Gonzaga made themselves a name about 15 or 20 years ago maybe? But they drained everything from outside and you just couldn’t stop it and they were a huge bracket buster. Fun to watch unless you’re the 3 seed.

I should know by now, whatever I thought of in the past add another 10 years 😁

Keep your stick on the ice...
3 of my buddies are in Vegas. It’s their yearly tradition to go out to Vegas, opening round of the NCAA‘s. It was mine until I got married… lol!!! Thursdays at the Red Rock sport book for half the day and Fremont casinos for the rest. Fridays we would jump around casinos and sports books. One of my buddies bets $5 on every dog for the 1st round. He comes out ahead more times than not after the 32 games. With Vegas being in PT zone games start early and end not to late. So you have time mess around after.
Keep your stick on the ice...
I’m surprised Calipari wasn’t around 2019. I guess Kentucky is fine with elite teams with elite recruiting classes and no hardware.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Two teams I put no trust in the first round… Michigan State and Iowa State.

That was a cold blooded shot and saved the game for them.

MSU dropped the hammer on a higher seeded sec team today, Mississippi State I think.

Stripes decided to hose Samford in the closing seconds vs. Kansas.

So, you expected them to outright lose? They were only 1 or 1.5pt favorites. (Not that expecting a 9 seed to lose to an 8 is unusual. Really a coin flip to me, and that 1pt spread fits that)Two teams I put no trust in the first round… Michigan State and Iowa State.

I was referring to covering.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
If you look at Mich. State and Iowa State opening round records of covering for the past 10-15 years let alone winning, especially Iowa State. I don’t trust them and wouldn’t put $$$ on them.

That was a horrible call. I was hoping for a KU loss. Now today Go Vermont Screw Duke
I would've bet my life saving if that play was reversed, the stripes would've called clean block on Kansas.

Gotcha. I pay little to know attention to gambling.
Understandable... Though sitting in a sports book can be very entertaining. Betters are cheering for their bet to cover or the o/u. And it can get very ruckus in the closing minutes. Especially during garbage time when your bet is relying a bench warmer.
And this is one of many reasons why I very, very seldom put $$$ on Gophers.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Understandable. You already have an emotional investment in the Gophers winning, don't need to make it worse with the bet. If anything, put a small bet on the opponent... that way you get some sort of consolation prize. And this is one of many reasons why I very, very seldom put $$$ on Gophers.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
I rarely bet but when I do it will never be on the Gophers. I've bet on the Vikings during a meaningless regular season game, although I can't remember the last time.
And for some weird reason I usually only bet on college fb games during the first few weeks of the season. After that I get bored even in years when I'm ahead.
Rooting for western Kentucky to beat marquet today. When I stayed at the econo lodge (yeah I know)😂 during a regional at mariucci in the mid 2000’s their fans stayed there and all came in at 1:00 am and woke me up. That’s just how I roll during March madness 😁 their regional was at the dome
Best Gopher bet of all time... Floyd Mayweather Jr. put $1M on UCLA to cover vs. Minnesota in the 1st round of the 2013 tourney. Gophers won by 20... lol!!! Couldn’t happen to a bigger jackbag even though $1M is nothing to him.

That’s called an “emotional hedge.” Your team wins, you get the pride of the win. Your team loses, you get some money to console your sorrows.
Professional bettors claim they don’t have favorite teams (which is bs because how did they get to be sports fans in the first place) and they just have favorite teams to bet on/against.

That's so petty.
I love it!

Florida nails a 3 to tie it at 100 vs Colorado 6 seconds left then Colorado takes the win with 1.7
I don’t remember ever seeing a tournament game where both teams scored 100. Seems like 40 minutes isn’t enough time for that to occur.
Auburn completely melts down! Yale wins 78-76. Wow.
I only caught the second half but Colorado tried to milk a 10 pt lead with maybe 4 minutes left and they blew it but pulled out the win anyway.
Colorado shot 66% from the field, 60% from 3, 85% from the line, scored 102 points and won by 2. Wild.
I'm just following the D2 tournaments now. Mankato is in both men's and women's Elite Eight.
Badgers are in trouble
