I was embarrassed making such a dumb grammatical mistake given that my grandfather was an English teacher…but then I read this and suddenly felt a lot better about myself. ?
and I was a student of his. He taught me to appreciate Shakespeare and the OED
Shakespeare was a hack.
I'm sitting in a four-hour training in zoom this afternoon and this was definitely going to be my distraction for that.
Same… though my training course 30 to 45 minutes.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Yep, you called that one.My prediction of 3-0 (or 4-0) was correct!
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
3-0 through two periods? Not bad for Luverne, but something tells me H-town will pot another 4 in the third.
I bet they would be better if they had Shirley too.
6-0 in a hurry in the third.
Less than 2 left.

The plucky underdogs from Hermantown find their way to the semis.

Very excited to see this McQuillan Brothers commercial 8-9,000 more times
The lone Luverne victory today--

And Alexandria fans booing Mahtomedi kids as they are introduced. ?

What's wrong with that? I thought it was tradition to boo the opponent when they get introduced?

I am sure St. Thomas’ players got booed during intros many times.
You can always go the mystery Alaska Route and just read newspapers during intros.

I hope the Alex kid said something truly awful because visually there was nothing wrong with his celly.
We did the newspaper bit and also stood up and turned around a few times.
Zephyrs goalie got caught anticipating the pass on that 2nd Alex goal.
I hope the Alex kid said something truly awful because visually there was nothing wrong with his celly.
Yea I really hope it wasn't just because he went towards the other student section...

Of course he did. Score a goal, give it right back on an unsporstmanlike call. Too funny.

In the Section Finals (1A), the officials came into both locker rooms before the game and said in no uncertain terms they would be calling a penalty if celebrations occurred at the opposing student sections.
Based on that, I think it was a MSHSL officiating initiative to control sportsmanship. They sent two emails about it last year, but that was the first reminder this year. It can lead to some really bad sportsmanship situations (player and fan). Witness the reaction of at least one individual in the Mahtomedi student section that I'm sure the MSHSL would rather not be televised.
So I assume it was told to players before the game and the player was warned and it happened anyway.
Probably a dumb question but why don't they use the NHL nets for games instead of these practice looking ones.
I always wondered that as well. Give these kids the nice nets...
Guessing it has to do with the expensive video equipment in the NHL nets
Probably a dumb question but why don't they use the NHL nets for games instead of these practice looking ones.
I believe it is because the NHL nets have all the camera equipment hooked up to it, and it is not easily removed/reinstalled.
Having worked the tournament before, I can tell you they are still NHL nets. For example the netting on the top of the net is different than the netting on the back/sides. It is much thinner allowing for easier view into the net for the overhead cameras, and officials to an extent. They have the clear section next to the post along the bottom of the net. Etc. They have the NHL Water bottle holder. They still meet NHL spec, they just don't have the camera gear, and stark white netting of the "Game Nets" for the Wild.
I also know the MSHSL is cheap, so there could be another angle.

MSHSL sent out a big email about this to officials, Coaches, and ADs in the middle of the season. I was told it was reinforced at the tourney as well. It shouldn't have surprised anyone, unless the coach didn't tell his players, and the player ignored the pre-tourney meeting.
It was dumb that he did it then. I also think it is a dumb rule, but these are pretty immature individuals we’re dealing with.
Trash talking in front of opposing student bodies and getting into it with opposing player’s parents and fans as a high school athlete was always fun. As an adult… it was juvenile.
Keep your stick on the ice...
1-0 Warroad on the PP.
1-0 Warroad after one period. Warroad looks like the better team, but SCC is getting some chances. The SCC goalie appears to be on his game today so this could be more interesting than expected.
This MSU commercial has me ready to be done with the Gophers
Warroad looks like the real deal. That freshman defenseman #21 for Cathedral looks really good too.

Griffin Sturm. Just turned 15 on Feb. 21st. Almost a point per game player (4g 17A 21Pts in 28 GP) as basically a 14-year-old.

Ciskie wanting more Mark Parrish seems pretty on brand
I'm just here to see who will be the can't miss uncommitted player in the tourney that people will want the Gophers to sign ASAP. ?

My wife and I watched "Slap Shot" a couple days ago. During the introductions she looked at a couple of the Warroad kids and said "Jeez, did they get these guys from the Syracuse Bulldogs?". She also very much favors the players who say "Hi Mom" or "Hi Grandma". ?

Early leader is Corey Bohmert, but we're just getting started
Crusaders tie it up about halfway through
I came to ask if the "surfer dude" color guy was Parrish and the Ciskie tweet answered.
The pxp guy is so much better than The Pants.
I really like St. Cloud's "Fighting Saints" jersey
2-1 Warroad after 2 as they get a late PP goal. Whistle blew before they made it 3-1 with like 3 seconds left. This is a very good game.
3-1 Warroad. Their top end talent us starting to pull away
4-1 Warroad. They're just wearing SCC down.

That would be Warroad’s Carson Pilgrim lol
5-1 Warroad Final. Hopefully the next game isn't chalk.
I do find it interesting that 2 high school teammates are uncle-nephew.
