That OT loss exemplifies SUFFERSOTA at its finest! 🙁That ending was the most Minnesota thing ever.
What happened to the "Kick to the nuts" emoji this board used to have?

I knew the game was on, but wasn’t paying attention to it at all. I was on YouTube and saw that the game was still going on in 2OT, so I joined in. Saw about two minutes before what was thought to be game winner by Minnesota. After they ruled it no goal, I would’ve bet everything I owned that Minnesota was going to lose that game in the 2OT. Surprised it didn’t on that first shot by Boston.
Not blaming Minnesota at all. Just after all that happened moments prior, there was no way they could hold on for the rest of the 2OT. If they would’ve got to a third overtime, I would’ve been more 60/40 of Minnesota still not winning.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Good PWHL Minnesota game on Fox9+. Less than 8 to play in the 3rd.
3-0 MN, 2:06 to play!!!
FINALLY a professional hockey championship has come to MN! Congrats PWHL Minnesota on winning the first Walter Cup! Did it with the shutout.
A Minnesota team backed into the playoffs and ground out a chip?! Nice!
Taylor Heise wins the first ever playoff MVP award. Keeping it MN grown!!
Those 2nd and 3rd periods were total domination.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Kendall’s poor kid 30 years from now looking at pictures of himself bawling during this celebration. 😂 😂
Proof a MN team can be down but not out. Maybe the men can take a lesson.
Women now have 5 championships in two sports having only played since 1999. That's 5 titles over a period of time (2011 - 2024) in which no men's team has made a championship and only the Vikings made it to the conference championship one time (2017 season).
Glad to see women's sports taking off. Look forward going to more PWHL games next season.

Oh right, the Whitecaps, I didn't count defunct league titles.

One of my neighbors informed me of that...however, they were re-broadcasting the stream from youtube, and were about 30 seconds behind the stream (checked it against my PS3 and my laptop). 😀

Now that the PWHL season is over and we know we're getting an announcement on team names in August, here were the leaked (and terrible) team names from back in January that never came to be (curious to see if any of these were real and stick, other than Toronto I hope not):
Boston Wicked, Minnesota Superior, Montreal Echo, New York Sound, Ottawa Alert, and Toronto Torch
Wicked, Superior, Sound...I could...crap...deal with. so Minnesota wins the Walter Cup, the Lynxs have won mutiple WNBA titles while no mens professional teams have won a championship since 1991
Aloha!
so they can be called the Mother🤬 Superiors? I’ll take it. Maura Crowell leaves Duluth to take the job at Dartmouth
More on the Crowell situation. A family decision. I have a ton of respect for her.

My theory is this; New MN Women's teams are immune from the MN sports curse for a period of time. So the Lynx, Women's Gopher's and PWHL teams all won championships early in their history and the curse will likely slowly take hold on those teams too. (I consider the curse to affect Men's hockey team too, as they should have a lot more Nattys than they have. Just have been too good for too long to not overcome the curse a handful of times.) So hopefully PWHL team can win a couple more early on in the league. Just hope that women's teams winning wasn't like a pressure relief valve for the curse so it will have several more decades of success against men's teams from MN.
Sounds like the league forced her out? It’s hard to really know yet without many details. Something doesn’t add up.

Does anyone have any inkling of why the league would be stepping in if in fact that is true?

She seems to have had a lot of movement in her career lately.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

The Gopher departure was the head coach getting scared someone was going to take his job. Which caused friction. She left Hill Murray when this job arose, not sure you can blame her for that.
This one is unrelated and wasn’t by her choice from all accounts.

Obviously everything is pure speculation, including both of our posts. There must be a pretty good reason about this latest departure as the PWHA has been pretty good at promoting its product, and from the outside this doesn't look good PR wise. Not sure if we will ever know the truth though.

If everything in that story is accurate, then it almost has to be because of something between Darwitz and the coaches/players.

FWIW, I texted with someone who was "with the players" and they were as surprised by this as anyone. Apparently this happened several weeks ago and this news took them by surprise today.
So I don't know if it is a player issue necessarily as I think they would be in the know of an issue/incident/etc.
From the Star Tribune article:
"According to a league source, Darwitz's departure comes after she clashed with coach Ken Klee, who has the support of several of the team's veterans, including captain Kendall Coyne Schofield. The source said Klee will be acting GM and will make the team's picks at the PWHL draft Monday at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul."

I hope that most of the players are on board with this, or it could get ugly pretty fast.
Rumor has it that the league is looking at Billy Guerin to take over 😉

give Guerin some credit. He figured out that if you overpay most of your players, they'll be a lot less likely to turn on you.Rumor has it that the league is looking at Billy Guerin to take over 😉
I've heard rumblings in the hockey community that Darwitz is difficult to work with and unpopular with players. Obviously I don't have first hand knowledge, but her track record of bouncing around from job to job in a short amount of time makes it seem believable. Those that rub people the wrong way tend to quickly wear out their welcome.
Weird

I have heard this as well. I didn't hear anything about players not liking her, but definitely people attempting to work with her finding her extremely difficult.
