How that isnt a major is beyond me. Checked in the back into the boards (in a game with no checking).
2-4 end of 2. Just feels like MN isn’t meant to beat WI this year.
That was a major.
I know the officiating in the women's game is bad but how can they be so bad one way? Wisco doesn't need the help they're getting.
4th goal was not a goal either. There was a clear interference penalty behind the Wisco net that wasn't called. Just unbelievable.
2-5. This one is over. Don’t know who steps up and into the Murphy role next season.
OSU or WI, feels like choosing if I want my hand or foot chopped off.
Murphy still has a year of eligibility left if she wants it. Defense returns everyone but Nicholson (and even she I think has a year left but doesn't seem to have a PWHL future), but losing Huber, Hemp, Mlynkova means the forward group gets noticeably worse even if Murphy stays.
2-6, EN goal.
WI just completely owns MN right now.
2-6 final. More WI vs OSU finals. Woo.
2-6, EN goal.
WI just completely owns MN right now.
And for them to win the Natty at Ridder sucks even worse.
Hard work will beat talent, if talent doesn't work hard.
Early lookahead for the 2025-26 roster:
Out of eligibility: King, Wethington, Hemp, Huber, Mlynkova.
One year of eligibility remaining but will have graduated or has already: Nicholson, Murphy, Vetter.
Healthy but did not dress for final game: Distad (Fr.), Klepinger (So.), Humphrey (Fr.).
Coming in next year: D'Alessandro, Fanale, Plosova (F), Bailey (D), Hemp (G) — potentially Hovland (F).
How in the hell wasn’t Murphy kicked out for that hit?
I didn’t sense a lot of competence from the refs in that game.
It all comes down to does she have her elbow up (hit to the head). I watched the video multiple times stopping it right before and at the moment of the hit. It actually looks like Abbey doesn't have her elbow up (hit her in the head).
Obviously it is a penalty for checking and I suspect the refs wanted to give her more than a 2 minute checking penalty since it was a really hard hit (Abbey plays rough) but I see why they didn't kick her out of the game.
The Wisconsin caption clears checks Abbey into the boards from behind and only gets a two minute penalty when the score was 3-2 and the Gophers should have had a 5 minute power play. Instead the BADgers ended up scoring a 4 on 4 goal after the Gophers committed a penalty and the BADgers got away with a penalty right before scoring with 2 seconds left in the second period to go up 4-2.
As hard as it is to beat a team for the 6th straight time in a year, Wisconsin made it look easy. And it's been that way all year, with the notable exception of the WCHA final game. It just proved that Minnesota was either the second or third best team in the country all year. They were fairly even against tOSU this year, but had nothing agains the BADgers
All season it has been:
Wisconsin
.
OSU
MN

UMD

Rest of WCHA
Controversial late penalty shot call gives wi a late tie and OT coming up
Meh

Just saw the video. Penalty shot was the correct call. Real debatable if the penalty shot goal should have counted though. IMO- that's not a good goalControversial late penalty shot call gives wi a late tie and OT coming up
The argument is that the Badger player did not keep the puck moving forward the entire time on the penalty shot.
You're allowed to stop your feet or skate laterally as long as the puck continues to move towards the goal line. You're allowed to move the puck laterally or even backwards, as long as the skater continues to move towards the goal line. You are not allowed to stop both the skater and the puck at the same time. IMO- she does that as she cuts back to her forehand right before the shot. I will say that it would be real tough to have to make that decision either way.@j22 Why not a good goal?
Don't have to close your hand on the puck for it to be a penalty shot. Putting her hand(or any part of her body) over top of the puck was enough to make that call.@j22 Why not a good goal?
The skater stops. It’s real tight and I think should be stood but I’m less in on the it being a penalty shot in the first place as hard to say she truly closed her hand on the puck
If she puts her hand down next to it and bats it away, I’m on board with no call. But it clearly comes down on top of it, making a call like this way too easy to make.
I am also more in the camp of the penalty shot being discussed more than the call that created it. I just don’t know what you expect a goalie to do if that is allowed.

i thought she swiped and it went out under her but i can also see why they called it and could be misremembering exactly how her arm came towards the puck but thought it was on the side and swept rather than “covering”
I just hate Wisconsin, of course I think that win was given to them.

No one should be too surprised there.
Don’t know how heavily the staff might hit the portal this offseason, but the likeliest target at this early juncture might be Jamie Nelson, a forward who’s leaving Mankato with a year of eligibility left. She’s kind of quietly had a very nice career there. She’s an Andover alum.
Skylar Vetter also now in the portal
Kate Kosobud is also in the portal

OSU's Josie St. Martin of Stillwater has entered the portal too.

Kind of disappointed in Kosobud, I think there’s potential there.
More to Vetter’s disappearance than injury?
I think it's more, suddenly she has a year of eligibility she didn't expect to have and Minnesota has a rising sophomore goalie and a freshman goalie who will play. Just no room for Vetter and the staff is likely unwilling to let one of the other two potentially leave.
Kind of disappointed in Kosobud, I think there’s potential there.
I agree, that's too bad. Gopher's have right handed defense coming in?

Sydney Bailey from Rogers in as a freshman. She and Morrow will be the only two righties. Think the defense will largely look the same as last year, except Bailey in Kosobud's spot and someone will need to take Nicholson's if she doesn't use a sixth year of eligibility. Maybe Franco moves back to the blue line.
Top 4 of Primerano-Morrow, Laitinen-Graham still looks pretty good.
Vetter isn't surprising, we had an overloaded goalie room with a Freshman who is going to play.
If these are the only 3, ok. Man I hate the end of every season now.

Not sure if good or bad. She had 10 shots on the season, 2 assists for 2 points.
She was 5-5 in the faceoff circle and blocked 4 shots.
Josie St. Martin to Duluth.
Hearing the Gophers may have picked up a transfer, but waiting on confirmation.

I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Ayla Puppe to Mankato
Don't think this was posted previously; apologies if so
If I had to guess she comes back. If she doesn't come back… this might not be a tournament team.

All depends how they work the Olympics teams too. She will miss at least a month of the season if she came back, as may Primerano.
Elly Klepinger to Bemidji
Leading portal scorer Sarah Paul of Princeton to the Gophers per Instagram. Listed as one year of eligibility but could well be two.
