Chesley would probably be best served by staying one more year, but he would be in Washington's lineup tomorrow if he left.
where or does Rud fit in. Seems like he’s become the invisible man.
If Koster comes back and nobody unexpectedly leaves, I would expect that means Rud and Begley will both be odd men out.
Barto another "healthy scratch" tonight...

Barto another "healthy scratch" tonight...
Pretty bizarre, especially since his last start was his best in a long while.
Maybe he is getting traded.

Javon Moore interviewed. He confirms he is playing a full season of juniors next year.

Likely two full years of juniors if you ask me

Given he should be drafted fairly highly, is physically advanced, and would turn 20 shortly into the 2025 season, feels like one season unless things go sideways.
I guess it all depends on how his season goes but I don’t see the rush with guys like Moore and Nevers. Let them use their 2 years of juniors, bring them in older. Both of them have longer runways in terms of development. They aren’t in the top tier of recruits (NTDPers and such)
You definitely don't want to rush them. It is a delicate balance between letting them develop and ensuring they can contribute early along with not letting then linger too long in juniors and creating a Ryan Walters type of situation. I think Nevers is more likely to play two years in the USHL.
Its possible they won't want to play 2 years of juniors.

Yeah if Javon is drafted in the first few rounds, I have a very hard time believing he would wait around and play 2 years of juniors.

Ziemer is always going to the front of the net and burying dirty ones. Gonna be a fan favorite I can already tell. So much Rau in him.

Kvasnicka back in the lineup for the first time in a long time! Good to see that M by his name!

I don't see Kvasnicka's name on the recruiting page. Hoping it's just not been updated.
Cooley Jr with a goal.

Kvasnicka in his first game back gets 2, love to see it.
Mooney started off the year slow, which is understandable for a 5’6 (5’7 on a good day) 16 year old playing against 18, 19 and 20 year olds, but he’s really picked up the pace and shows all signs of being a Cooley-like college talent. Mooney really shines in tournaments like this against his own age group where he’s clearly one of the better players in the world for his age.
Ziemer stays red hot (ignore the caption)

A second goal for Ziemer. Both in the dirty areas. Very interested to see where he fits in the lineup next season.
They seem more interested in the Terrier setting him up lol

This isn't good... Barto going down to NAHL

If it gets him more minutes so be it. Good for him even. Lots of great goaltenders have come from the NAHL. Like I said before, likely just a backup to Airey anyway, so not a big deal.
You have to wonder how coming in during the middle of the season, when Laffer left, hurt his development. That said, he was "sent" to the USHL to play games and continue his growth and come back next year to compete with Airey. He had every chance earlier this year to take the reins in Youngstown, and slowly lost the starting job. The fact Youngstown could not find a taker for him at the trading deadline, really makes you wonder and then getting sent down to the NAHL is very concerning. I think Bob needs to be on the lookout for another goalie unless Barto goes on a heater. I'm very nervous if it's Airey and Barto as 1&2 next year. We would be 1 injury away from Barto being #1...

I don't expect him to be a Gopher next season.
Hard to spin it as a positive, and would agree it is getting tough to envision him as a Gopher in 2024-2025. Could be an offseason to hit the portal for a goalie.
The "positive" is finding out he can't handle the higher level of competition when he's not taking up a roster slot, and the staff has time to get a replacement lined up.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Leo Gruba looks like safe bet to win USHL Defenseman of the year. Don’t think a Gopher commit has ever won that award, atelast in a long time
I think it’s safe to say that Hendrickson and Ziemer aren’t “hot”, they’re just really good. Same goes for Pahlsson and Gruba. Such a sneaky good recruiting class coming in next year.
Ziemer 2nd of the night

Bartoskziewicz making me look stupid for defending him all week, gives up NINE on 26 shots in his return to the NAHL. Read that again. At least he picked up an assist though😃
Mooney in OT for the gold. https://twitter.com/usahockeyntdp/status/1756731199974703597?s=46&t=bXba2G0DtQW9oq9QsULXBQ
Here is the list of USHL Defensemen of the Year awards. Elite Prospects - Award - USHL Defenseman of the Year
No Gopher recruit has ever won.
Becoming more interested to see if Koster and Nevers come back for their 5th seasons. They have picked up their play since their injuries and seem to be well liked by their teammates. Not sure if Bob will ask them, nor I am sure they would accept if asked. I guess we will have to wait and see.
Bob seems like a guy that values age so I bet both will be offered to stay. I don’t see Nevers turning that down, not like he has any pro hockey to rush off to. Koster is trickier because he potentially has a pro career ahead of him, but could really use another year in college, especially coming off his knee injury.
I would take Koster back for sure. If Nevers wants to come back and is fine with a 4th line role, I wouldn't hate the idea.
The only thing with Nevers is that, if he comes back, he might have to be comfortable playing a 4th line role. Loose projection:
Pitlick-Moore-Lamb
Pahlsson-Huglen-Kurth
Hendrickson-Clark-Ziemer
Strobel/Falloon/Pino-Mittelstadt-Nevers
Idk which one of Pahlsson, Ziemer, Hendrickson, that Nevers beats out to play top 9 minutes.
No chance that Pitlick leaves? He's improved every year and is already ahead of last year with 10 less games played so far. I realize he's only a 5th round pick...
