Canada hosts the World U17 Challenge every year, in the fall I believe. I think Canada has two, or possibly three, teams in that event. It is not an IIHF event.
The Canadian major junior leagues are still going on which is the main reason Canada is not as strong in this event. I noticed one U.S. player in this event plays for Erie of the OHL. He and the Warroad goalie are the only non-NTDP players on the U.S. roster.
Sweden up 7-0 over Canada currently at the U18. ?
US and Latvia tied at 0 after 1.
Does Canada still split up into 2 teams for the U18’s?
I don't ever remember them doing that (doesn't mean they didn't) but as of now they only have 1 U18 team.
It's possible they don't send their utmost best though because they're nowhere near as dominant in this tournament as they are in others.
Ok. I think it’s the u17’s where they send Canada Red and Canada Black

Fastest guy on the ice no matter who he plays, can stick handle in a phone booth, and oh yeah, he can shoot the puck too.
Definitely. Canada losing to Sweden? Sure, Sweden is a good team. Canada getting obliterated by Sweden raises the eyebrows.Canada only sends one team to the U18's but the roster options are limited because of the CHL playoffs
Ok that makes sense.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Yup. He’s fun to watch! So quick & accelerates w/ ease. Had a nice primary assist on Schulz’s goal.
USA beats Latvia 7-1
Moore 1G, 1A, +1
Eiserman 1G, 1A, 0
Hendrickson 0,0 +1; played well despite no pts - saw time on the PP unit with all the BC kids.
He dropped from 6 to 8. Gopherhole might explode.
Well, one ray of sunshine over there pointed out BC has 3 in the top 10. Nothing seems good enough for the Gophers in his eyes.
Interesting for BC that their top defenseman and C transferred to Michigan. You would think with all the talent coming in the staff could convince him to stay.
Brodie Ziemer scored for the U17’s in their loss v. Youngstown today.
He has 2 goals in the last 2 games. U17’s last regular season game is tomorrow.
He has now added another goal today
And there’s the hat trick
And there’s the hat trick
Slam dunk!

Get this kid to dinkytown.
He added a 4th
Moore just got one
Jimmy Clark nets his 19th tonight.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Why are you guys so excited? I was told we need older players not talented ones. Motzko is so out of touch! ? ? ? ?
Yeah just let the Badgers have Eiserman so we can get some 26 year old Canadian.

Jimmy Clark with a goal to compliment his whopping 7 SOG. Think we got a gem of a 4 year player here.
Teddy Townsend picks up his first point with Waterloo.
Reminder to start your day of hockey with the U18's at noon.

O/u 1.5 goals for Eiserman vs Finland
USA scores 2 early, but the Fins have tied it up late in the 1st. Moore with the 1st USA goal.

Eiserman just hammered in a PP goal. 3-2 USA. Early period 2.

Eiserman is the only U-17 player not named Jack Hughes to score 100 points in a season.
A couple of familiar names on this list.

Boston kid who’s best friend and Shattuck teammate commuted to BU, yet still ends up committing to Minnesota. Bobs finest work.
Eiserman with a goal in the 1st period today. His 7th goal ties a record for USA underage goals in this tourney with Kessel and O'Sullivan.

Eiserman X 2. That goal ties him for 2nd for most goals for team USA in a single tourney. Only the little guy that played for the BADgers has more.

I mean what can you even say at this point
Oliver Moore adds a goal. 10-0 USA

Is Eiserman the most anticipated recruit ever for the Gophers? I think that with social media now and the ability to watch his games/highlights pushes him to to top.
Cooley was huge, but committed late so we didn't get 2 years of hype.
Kessel was the biggest when he committed. Getting a kid out of Wisconsin was a big deal and his reputation of being a superstar was off the charts.
Bjugstad was also hyped. Mr Hockey plus a famous last name.
Rau was a legend at Eden Prairie, won the state title with that goal.
Any others in the last 20 years? Wheeler, E Johnson, M Reilly, Vanek, C. Mittelstadt, Wilcox?

Id say yes. Although people forget how hyped up Casey Mittelstadt was. Being a local kid helps plus we committed before he started high school so we got to watch him dominate for years. Plus he came after a 5ish year stretch where there were no Gopher first round picks so he seemed like that much more of a big deal.

I am on the younger side of fandom, but it is Eiserman for me no doubt. He doesn't stop scoring.
I would still say Kessel. They had a press conference when he committedIs Eiserman the most anticipated recruit ever for the Gophers? I think that with social media now and the ability to watch his games/highlights pushes him to to top.

@Vegoe Do you know if there is any chance that they are working to bring in Eiserman this fall? Or is that just fan speculation? Also, have you heard anything about Hagens?

The Eiserman stuff is purely fan speculation. Hagens started following Gophers hockey yesterday which is actually a pretty consistent teller of where a kid is leaning. It is looking like Harvard, BC, Gophs for Hagens.
Edit: just realized you were asking Vegoe. Hoped this helped anyway.
Those USA sweaters are just sick.
Kessel and Vanek are the only 2 in my time that were this hyped.
Mittelstadt and Lucius were up there too. Lucius ended up falling down the first round a tad, but considering he announced his commitment from the playground during recess while his employees prepared the private indoor rink and his parents built a school to accommodate his special talents, the hype was sky high.
I forgot to add Bobby Brink to my list. ?
