Does the heat get turned down on tBob now until the end of next year? I would say yes.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

Enlighten me, is this Vanek, Kessle recruit territory?

Yes. Those two are freaks so he may not put up those kind of numbers, but the potential is huge.

Definition of a one and done but I’m cool with that we have some scoring to replace next year. But man put him on a line with sophomore Knies wind them up and watch em go.

Pushing for the first overall spot but likely 2-5 range

Numbers look tight for next year. Incoming:

Cooley

Kurth

Pinoniemi

Mittelstadt

Snuggerud

Lucius

Strobel

Warner out there yet have a hard time seeing him here.

Obviously, you don't turn down Cooley. Curious if there are more dominoes to fall.

I don't think Mittelstadt the forward signed an NLI. He and Warner may need to find new homes

I expect Walker/McLaughlin/Meyers and now also expect Cruikshank gone, with Knies the question.

For those who want to get a quick update about who he is. A couple of articles about him.

Quote:

4. Logan Cooley — C, U.S. NTDP, 5-foot-10

Cooley is a beautiful, flowing skater capable of beating defenders off the mark or circling the zone to get defenders watching him with the puck. He’s got an uncanny ability to side-step and hop around oncoming players at speed. He’s got a great sixth sense for timing and spacing around the zone which frees him to accept passes or jumps him onto rebounds. Despite a smallish frame, he regularly flashes skill to the inside, slicing to the middle and pulling pucks through or around defenders.

He’s also a Swiss Army knife player who combines NHL speed and skill with a working attitude to push pace, make plays, win races, stay involved, and get onto the ice in all situations. I love his tempo and feel for the game out there. His touch with the puck and hands both get high grades, his skating (particularly his change of pace) and energy level are both differentiators, and those things make for a pretty compelling package on the ice. You won’t find a scout who doesn’t like him, either

Geno Pichora, the goalie who committed right before Covid and is from Pittsburgh, could have also been a candidate to dethrone Grant Scott but since he's got a .906 save percentage in a league I've never heard of currently, guessing Cooley has a slight edge over him in terms of potential.

I know people don't necessarily move on when they're ready and often do it before but I think it'd be best for Knies to work on some of his other skills before moving on. He's a big net front guy and excels in that area but is kinda one dimensional. You can make a career out of that role but you'd prob make more money long term as a more well rounded player.

Think this officially rules out a fifth year for any of the senior forwards unless a ton of underclassmen sign which seems unlikely.

On top of the seniors and Meyers, maybe Brodz or Perbix will transfer to Cloud, too if they'll have them...

Don’t see Brodz moving on with how much he’s scored this year

Will likely take a large chunk if not all of Schmidt’s scholarship money. He may look to transfer.

Schmidt has scholarship money? I figured about nothing. I see Brodz or Perbix as options because they're really not that great and will have significant threat to their existing playing time. Add to that family ties to SCSU and that SCSU is losing tons of experience.

You can say what you want about Brodz but he can put the puck in the net

Doesn't do that enough, though and can't do anything else. He's borderline top 9 for me next year if Knies comes back.

Disregard my question in the Potential Recruits thread. I should have looked here first. Nice get.. I might have to fly back for more than one series next year. Knies will be back next year, still a few things he needs to work on to round out his game and be NHL ready. Hopefully Faber comes back as well.

Yeah idk about that lol. Lucius is probably more rounded overall and seems to have better hands, vision, and playmaking ability, he’s just not as big. We’re also talking about NHL projections and not is this player better than Brodzinski.

I don't think any of us are. If someone is, they're being unrealistic. It would be one of those surprise extra years teams occasionally get, and the fact is getting Cooley doesn't hurt those odds and the same would be said if Knies comes back.

That is why I said Hope regarding Faber, maybe he likes what is coming in and is coming back and decides to give it one more year. Could also depend if the Kings have any room for him next year, they have quite a few young dmen.
