This team feels like three 1st lines and a 2nd line. Just no breaks for opposing teams.
Through 5 games
Kurth is a +12
Clark is a +10
Wood is a +9
Jimmy Clark might have been the best player on the ice tonight boy does he look different
This team looks really really good. Great night at Mariucci.

28 points between them is absolutely insane
Rinzel, Chesley, Koster, and Thomas have combined for 7 goals and 10 assists.
Luke Mitts and Gruba will likely soon chip in too. Neither has a point yet.
I'm only seeing the highlights but man we look good. And at least on the goals Jim Rich is really enjoyable to listen too...sounds like Frank back in the early Lucia days.
That Wood goal...so much like Vanek it's crazy!
Had no expectations of Rich one way or the other but thought he did a fine job.

When was the last time we were able to boast that nearly all of our forwards had goals by game 5? With Falloon scoring tonight, that just leave J Mittelstadt without one, but if you give him enough games, it's only a matter of time before he scores too.

They look much better than last year's team. That Omaha loss may have been the best thing for this team. Beating the in state teams is huge. Looking forward to tomorrow night.
- The Wood goal was so reminiscent of Vanek putting the nail in Mankato's coffin in '03.
- Lamb's shift when he ended up scoring was spectacular, he earned that goal big time.
- Is Jimmy Clark faster this year? Holy schinkies he was flying
- The toms are lucky MN showed some serious restraint tonight, I thought they'd start lighting players up in the third. Especially after one of the Laylins (19) took a two handed cheap shot on Rinzel on his first goal
- Speaking of speed, Rinzel looks like he's barely moving and the next thing the defender realizes is he's gone....
- Where did the Mariucci Arena staff find the 8-track tape version of The Rouser? And something to play it on....wow.
- One of the biggest differences I noticed from last year, they are much better a changing lines. I don't think anyone was stuck out there too long.

Two students had a big white board with a question of “Will St. Thomas need church after this” with options of Yes or No. They carried it up and down the aisles during the 2nd intermission while having every person check off a response with a marker. There wasn’t one person who said No. I don’t really get it, but at least it was creative and they were having fun.
I've done the whiteboard thing at games (mostly towards the refs). It's a good crowd (or ref) participation thing, gets everyone into the game.

Same place they apparently got the rest of the audio system tonight. Did they decide that last year's was too high-brow and they needed to make it less intelligible than a 30 year old drive thru with a blown driver on the speaker?Where did the Mariucci Arena staff find the 8-track tape version of The Rouser? And something to play it on....wow
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Enunciate! Enunciate! We can’t understand what you’re saying!
I couldn’t understand a dang thing Jamie said. And all I heard when music was playing was the bass.

Without fail, every road team cannot hear their name when they announce starting lineups. There is either confusion as to whose turn it is or what name was called.

Interesting. I just presumed they were stupid. Especially the cheeze whiz team.

If they don’t know who on their team is starting, or can’t read the scoreboard during name announcements, then yeah, they deserve to be confused. 😬😂
One girl marked it no after thirty some yes voters 😂Two students had a big white board with a question of “Will St. Thomas need church after this” with options of Yes or No. They carried it up and down the aisles during the 2nd intermission while having every person check off a response with a marker. It's only 5 games, but this team is built mentally different. They just look so poised, determined and ready for business. No interest in looking fancy, they are out there to get the job done. I love it

Glad it wasn't just us. I thought maybe our hearing had gone to hell.

This was especially noticeable during the PK. They started with Clark and Nevers. Got possession and cleared the puck and then Huglen and Lamb came out (within 10 seconds). They then cleared the puck and changed again. They really rotated though the PK players well during that one.

Mariucci was bumping yesterday. Really fun game to be at. All 4 lines looked really good, defense looked really good, they kept their composure even when the other team started to get chippy.
One thing that I have noticed is Pahlsson puts the puck back in every time he is around the net, look at Lambs goal from yesterday (
I don't mind it, I think it is going to help at some point during his career where a goal that everyone thinks goes in doesn't and he puts it right back in to solidify it, but at some point I think someone on the other team is going to get upset and lay him on his ass. So that'll be interesting haha
The first Gophers goal is the type of goal that determined teams score. It looked like the puck was going to leave the zone no less than 2 times and they just fought to keep it there and eventually scored.
There are so many players to call out on the positive side of things, but I think this is the best Snuggy has looked away from the puck since arrived in Dinkytown.
I'm interested to see how this team responds the first time they're punched in the mouth. The UNO game wasn't that.

Yeah Wisconsin offense has been non existent. They are 1-4 and their own win is at home against Lindenwood where they were down 2-1 late in the 3rd period before scoring the tying goal with 5 1/2 minute left and then scored the 3 on 3 OT game winner with 18 seconds left. They were close to getting swept by Lindenwood at home and even after getting the OT win it is still a Pairwise series loss (.67 out of 2).
But that is what happens when you run into a goalie like Owen Bartoskiewicz!!!

Completely agree. Sounds kinda silly cause you want your team to win big every night but it’ll be interesting to see how they handle adversity when or if it ever comes. Don’t see this team losing two in a row this year. Just can’t see it.

I come up with 27 in 5 games. Exhibition doesn't count.
The Gopher team two years ago lost two in a row once. It was in October.I'm interested to see how this team responds the first time they're punched in the mouth. The UNO game wasn't that.

At home they beat North Dakota 3-2 in OT and then lost the next night 5-4 in OT. The loss was the game Pitlick scored in the 2nd period to put us up 2-0 and got a 10 minute misconduct penalty for throwing his stick in the crowd while celebrating the goal.
The Gophers got a couple of questionable penalties later in the 2nd period and then Cooley got a 5 minute major for grabbing a Sue face mask. The Sue scored 4 straight goals (3 on the Power Play) to take a 4-2 lead. The Gopher did a great job of responding by scoring a late 2nd period goal by Kurth and a 3rd period goal by Snuggy to get the game to OT tied at 4.
The Gophers out shot the Sue in the two games 38-18 and 41-20.
The back to back loss was a 6-4 loss the next weekend at Ohio State on Friday night which was followed by a 4-2 Gopher win to get the road spilt.
The Gopher team two years ago lost 10 times. They were 8-1 after losses. We all know they didn't play a game after the last loss.
4 of the 10 losses were in OT - three in 3 on 3 OTs. The team went 4-3-1 in 3 on 3 OTs that season 4-4-1 in OT overall. They were 25-6 in games that ended in regulation so 29-10-1 overall.
Where do I access the live chat during the games?
Yeah but some guy listed it as Fox 9 on the schedule so that’s what I asked the waitress to find.It was Fox9+At the Bar and Fox 9 is showing the news….. WTF?
I eventually figured out it was on 9+ but she had no idea how to find that.
@norm and myself both posted information in this thread yesterday afternoon about the game being on Fox 9+ rather than Fox 9 to give people a heads up. Jup can't have everything perfect.
I noticed on the Portal Page for TV tonight it shows Fox9 but my onscreen guide says the game is on Fox9+ with a pregame show at 5:00.
Yep
Game one of the World Series is tonight on Fox 9 at 7 pm (pre game at 6 PM).
Gopher hockey pre game/game is on Fox 9+
Falloon gets a goal last night and tonight gets benched. 😀
For the 3rd straight weekend both Johnny Mitts and Falloon get a game as the 12th forward.
Our 4th line for tonight is pretty good (see 4th line listed). 😉 Although, I've noticed this season most of the time at the start of games they don't play in the same order they are listed on the line up chart. Plus often times the D pairs are different then what is shown on the line up chart. Part of that is because they play all 7 D.
I liked the tenacity of the Lamb - Påhlsson - Snuggerud grouping last night.
I will agree with the Snuggerud comments. I really was not at all impressed with his overall play last year other than his huge shot which is really awesome. He contributed nothing else and many times was a liability. That seems to have changed so good on ya! Other than the first few minutes where we seemed absolutely determined to gift STU a goal... right in front of our net, I thought we looked really good. Also agree we have not really played anyone yet that really hits back either physically or on the score sheet. We shall see.
Gophers score early and often tonight. Send these Tommie fans to their Halloween parties early. 12 to 0 Gophers 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone know if there is a way to stream Fox 9+? I don't have access to my TV at the moment, and I don't want to pay $24.99 for access to CCHA.tv...

For those not familiar, live chat is going, click on the tab. Have seen some new faces. It's a fun time, discussing in real time.

St. Thomas scores first and then Chelsey ties it with a point shot. His 4th of the season.
On a Gopher power play Pahlsson hits the post.
Lamp Chop with a power play goal. His 3rd of the season.
Gophers 2-1
