Well, we are the land of 10,000 rakes.....I think the fans need to rake a deep breathe...jesus.
I think the fans need to rake a deep breathe...jesus.
The season is clearly over.
Oh I already am looking ahead to next year 😉
Maybe it's a sign I am old but I have seen enough great teams have early season bad games (or even stretches of them) to not get too up in arms about it...especially with the other factors at play. If the team looks like this in a month then it is time to panic but I mean this outcome is not exactly the equivalent of the USA beating Russia...
I got fiiiive on it!
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Brody Lamb has definitely taken a leap
WTF is Chesley doing out there.
UST goalie comes up with a couple big saves as the Gophers ramp up the pressure in the last couple minutes.
If this goes OT and 3 on 3 we're toast. St. Thomas has been skating circles around us.
Bonin21 is that you?

Oh no. Now we’re in 75% of a win territory. Or 25% if you kind of lose.
Glad I was wrong!
Winner winner chicken dinner!
Jimmy Superfly Snuggerud!

Seasons not over then?

Jam up jelly tight. Snuggy with the rude goal ?
Game threads are always a Rollercoaster. ?
Expecting a tighter game tomorrow. Hat tip to St. Thomas. They are going to give a lot of teams fits this year.
Big takeaway for the Gophers: Can't be spectators. Even for a minute.

With it being at the X, with two hometown crowds, and a lot of back and forth play ending in a fun 6-5 overtime win it almost felt like one of those crazy state tournament games. Really fun and at the same time frustrating game to watch. St Thomas is no slouch but there were times we just looked borderline uninterested. But good to see the boys rally and get the job done.
Also, I absolutely love the little jersey pop in front of the crowd by Snuggerud on the OT winner. So cheeky. So arrogant. So popped collar. So Gopher. Let them know Jimmy! Pop that M!
I didn't know Snuggy had that type of goal in him. ?
Funny when you can see a mistake happen in real time and think, "Ooh here's a chance!". Total miscommunication by the two Tommies and Jimmy took advantage.
A lot closer than I hoped for, but they get the big W. Now let's see a 3-goal win tomorrow night.
- Very fun atmosphere, wish to see this more often at the “X” between the Gophers and “what’s a” Tommie.
- The STU pa guy was getting a real pleasure call Minnesota Twin Cities Gophers. That’s UMD’s coined phrase.
Keep your stick on the ice...
I thought Parish quit the bottle? He sounded like he had a couple cocktails, and anti gopher of course.

Felt like a high school state tournament game with both crowds. Lots of positives, and lots of things to work on.

Parrish is the Gopher reject version of Rick Haley. Both are tools and very annoying. Parrish is even a tool in the power trip morning show.

Dont try to be all philosophical… you know what I was getting at.

Parrish is a lot of things...a tool isn't one of them. He is legit one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met...even before he got sober. Ask around you won't give meant people who have a bad thing to say about him and I suspect you wouldn't either if Woog hadn't been an idiot when recruiting him.
1 down 2 more wins in St. Paul to win it all.

I'm not...I never got why people made a thing out of it. I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities that is just a fact.
The reason it was pathetic that UMD used it as a dig was because it was meaningless. Calling Saint Cloud Stearns County Community College is a dig, calling us by our name is just JV and sad.
YMMV
The UM-TC never bothered me. I laugh when opponents think we care about it.

Some new Gophers and some old Gophers had tough games. Hunger looked more there in the 3rd and it showed. Hoping we see Moore take the same arc Cooley did and that the D grow up fast.
on to the next one and I’m very ok if this team wins another game or two in the X 6-5 in OT this year
So, don't want to panic about PWR, and it really isn't worth looking at before the holiday break, but, non-con games have a huge impact.
what me worry

Not scrolling back for OG quote, but SteveMN, you're better than this. 😉 You don't even blink right now.

agree with the comment that it looked like a high school tourney game. Lots of weak defensive play. Might be the exhibition nature of the game. I like Parrish, he is a local sports hero, but he is so is anti gopher. It’s fine, we don’t need him.
We new D would be a work in progress especially with Koster out and they sure delivered in that aspect lol. None of the goals were on Close but I’m sure giving up 5 doesn’t sit well with him. Hoping for an all around better performance defensively tomorrow. Show they can improve.
Super fun game though. That’s what college hockey is all about. This rivalry is gonna get fun you can already tell.
Feel like Strobel deserves a shoutout. He played a great game.
One doesn’t even need to have whatever Mark Parrish’s background is with the Gophers to be anti-Gopher. I hate the Yankees, Alabama football, Duke basketball, New England (when they were good) for the same reasons people hate the Gophers: who the hell wants to watch those guys win all the time? I’m just glad they won. I thought they lost 3-2, thanks to misunderstanding USCHO’s scoreboard.
@maroon_and_gold this one won’t ever be a “rivalry” to anyone in maroon and gold. tArrogance will not allow it

Totally agree with you that a lot of Gopher fans probably won’t acknowledge this as a true rivalry but I could see the players and both respective student bodies really getting into it. A lot of the students and players for both schools come from the metro and probably already know each other or party together on the weekends (the party part probably pertains more to the students). Will this “rivalry” ever become like us vs UND, Michigan, Wisconsin, or UMD? No, of course not. But this should be a fun matchup going forward.

Depends on how good they get. Just sayin'.

Yep, I was at the game and there was some good back and forth between the two student sections. The Tommie students packed in their sections while the Gophers Students had a solid showing given it was an away game. Pretty much every Tommie has freinds at the U so the students will drive the atmosphere and make this a fun matchup. This Rivalry already has some juice and will only grow as they build some history/bad blood.@maroon_and_gold this one won’t ever be a “rivalry” to anyone in maroon and gold. tArrogance will not allow it

Parrish was absolutely not anti-Gopher while calling the game. I couldn't count on less than two hands the number of times he complimented the Gophers, and complimenting the other team when they do something well also is not 'anti-Gopher' - it's called color commentary. He takes a bit getting used to, but I liked him overall and his enthusiasm for the game is infectious.
Also sorry but this is not a rivalry.
