Daughter and I are coming into town this weekend for the games. Been to MN many times; son just moved to outside Minneapolis. Looking for recommendations where to eat on campus before the games. Quick search brought up The Beacon and Stubs and Herbs. Any other ideas? For Friday, we will be looking for fish (lent). Thanks!
Not on campus, but I'm partial to Chin Dian Kitchen about a mile to the North. It's Chinese and Indian fusion food (hence the name) and has just partially reopened a few weeks ago after a pandemic shutdown. If you don't need fish specifically, my Lenten routine is to get spicy vegetable fried rice, but they do have seafood and other pescatarian food options.
Not every disease is visible. Not every pain comes from an obvious wound. Some people you see day-to-day may be suffering in ways you or I may never understand and fighting just to live a normal life. Please consider contributing to the Facial Pain Association and together we can find a cure.
Yeah I’ll also vouch for this place, idk if they have in person dining or what their schedule is (after they shut down for like a year) but I think they’re open daily now?Not on campus, but I'm partial to Chin Dian Kitchen about a mile to the North. I haven't been back since they've reopened, but the announcement I saw said they were just open on Fridays for now.
On that note, scratch the thought about tomorrow. Another page on their website says they're closed this week because of the snowstorm.

My Burger is fantastic if you're not interested in a full bar-like men, and similarly there is Raising Cane's. If you like Asian I highly recommend Peking Garden and The Tea House.
I realize those aren't necessarily traditional pre-game type places. ?
Welcome to the TC and I hope you and your daughter have a great time.

Lots of seafood options here and close to Mariucci. Pho Seafood with extra veggies is a big winner in my book.

Then if you're looking for a return to beef on Saturday, then I'm a big fan of Blue Door Pub University... Lumberjack Blucy is the burger of the moment and a favorite of mine to have with cajun dusted fries. It's not right near the rink, but it's actually an area where I will sometimes park and walk to the game.

If you're just doing a fish and chips thing, my choice would be Stanley's on University and Lowry or The Howe on Minnehaha Ave. Both of these places are quaint, moderately priced, and not commercial. The 1029 Bar is another solid choice. It has a super lobster mac & cheese, if that passes for the Catholics. Just as important, these places are an easy Uber ride to Mariucci, which I would recommend at any rate. It's Friday night, so you should get there at least 2 hours early to make the game by 8.
Side note, if you or your daughter have never been to a game, I would try to get into the rink by 7:20 or so, and walk behind the band/student section. When the teams leave the ice after warm ups, the band gets into the concourse and marches all the way around the arena. When they get back, they play the rouser. I've seen it a hundred times, and it never gets old. (If they win, get back over there and you'll get another treat.) It truly is part of the college game experience.
Oh, and wear a hat. It's gonna be a cold one.
I think the 'fish & chips' at Old Chicago in Roseville (Har Mar Mall) are great. Plus good selection of apps, cocktails and beer. And if someone doesn't want 'fish & chips' they have a good selection of choices. Burgers, pizza, pasta and sandwiches. Old Chicago (Har Mar Mall) Roseville is a 10-15 minute drive to Mariucci and/or ramps.
Though I'm an OC "sheeple" and bias to OC. Had nearly 55 beer tours (110 beers) until the pandemic started. Now what I would have daily, I have monthly.
Keep your stick on the ice...

if you’re up for being in Northeast at the 1029, Anchor Bar is also super good from my past experiences. Also agree that 1029 is a great spot
Thanks for all of the recommendations.
We ended up at Blarney’s both nights. Super easy to park on the street. And - they have a free shuttle that takes you to and from Marucci. Only ate there Friday night - the fish and chips were very good. Super impressed with the arena and the hockey team. The talent is off the charts. Stood in the concourse and watched the band March on Saturday. Met up with some family on Saturday night and went to Forgotten Star and Dangerous Man breweries. Good luck to your team the rest of the season.
