Gophers roll into Madison with a 7-1 record. UW is 2-6 with their 2 wins coming against Lindenwood and Notre Dame.
As of now, the games are only available on B1G+ streaming.

I really wish Big+ would make an app that runs on devices like chromecast or roku. Their streaming is way behind the times without it.
I can't speak to Chromecast, but there is a B1G+ app for Roku TVs.I really wish Big+ would make an app that runs on devices like chromecast or roku. Their streaming is way behind the times without it.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
It should be easy to get tickets to the game and Madison is a short 4 hours drive from Minneapolis.
Drive down, drink some Wisconsin Old Fashioneds, and watch the games in person!
@steve-mn Works on chromecast (and android phones or tablets) just fine as well
Ok, so this is interesting. I take back what I said. I have an old chromecast and have Big+ installed on it. It looks like that is no longer supported on new devices from what I could gather online. If I use my chromecast I'm generally casting to it from my phone. Roku works so much betterwait, what app do you install on chromecast? I swear I don't have a b1g+ app on chromecast. I have it on my phone but not chromecast. Very strange.@steve-mn Works on chromecast (and android phones or tablets) just fine as well

Looking forward to pregaming. I'll keep checking for when and where!
Watching bucky all season makes my eyes bleed, but this year...wow. A few beverages will help!
Given the Wisco record I hope our guys don't get overconfident. I would think the lessons (many many lessons) from the Penn series would serve them well in Madison. That being said I was actually pretty pleased with the grit and no quit I saw from the Gophers when so many things were just not going the way they maybe had hoped. PK (dismal but respect to Penn), no puck luck really with good tending and defense, and our own very strange inability to hang onto the puck. The way we started with the high scores and huge differential I was happy to see them be able to win two highly contested games. Goaltending which people have questioned looked very very solid. There are things to clean up of course as with any team. I also have to admit I was not impressed with the penalty by 81. Seemed very unnecessary and I would think a third year captain would avoid that one. I agree upon reply (and even in person) that was a clear 5 and gone for head contact. Is he OK for this next series?
Not a good penalty but hopefully he learns from it. We’ve seen gopher greats take similar penalties over the years and I kinda just chalk it up to hockey being an emotional game.

And lose your ass at the Casino on Thurs night Right??
@mg-since-forever usually supplemental discipline comes out on Monday if it does. Haven’t seen anything yet
I'd be shocked if they hit Snuggy with anything more.
Was it a 5? Yeah I'd say so. Suspension worthy? No.
This is how I feel. Snuggly is not a dirty player and Minnesota is not a dirty team. I dont see any reason the league would want to send us or him a stronger message than what was sent.I'd be shocked if they hit Snuggy with anything more.

Usually. But not last year. It was hopefully the start of a new and long streak of winning! [knocks on wood]It should be easy to get tickets to the game and Madison is a short 4 hours drive from Minneapolis.

The supplemental stuff usually comes on those if the game misconduct didn't impact the game or if it was at the end of the game.
I think there is a good chance we see a couple of changes in the lines.
A few things I noticed while comparing Gopher stats to BADger stats.
Shots on goal
Badgers 35.8 per game - 4th in the country
Gophers 35.5 per game - 5th in the country
Shots on goal against
Badgers 22.6 per game - 5th in the country
Gophers 22.9 per game - 7th in the country
Shooting %
Gophers 13.0 - 6th in the country
Badgers 4.9 (How does Wisconsin score on less than 5% of their shots on goal?) - that is 60th out of 62 teams
Saves %
Gophers 92.9 - 11th in the country
Badgers 86.7 - 58th out of 62 teams
They must be flinging the puck at the net whenever they get a chance. PSU seemed to do that on Saturday as they far outpaced MN in SOG but the scoring chances we nearly identical. Quantity over quality.A few things I noticed while comparing Gopher stats to BADger stats.

Wisco has typically been worse than Mariucci in attempts to do a color/stripe out. And we are pretty bad….
wear gold if you really want to be noticed! 😁
Bob was on with PA this morning. This is an interesting tidbit.
-- They actually stop in Tomah on the way to Madison to practice rather than practice at a later time in Madison today.

Gruba is a great interview. Especially for a freshman.
Gruba is an older freshman, the type of player tBob said he wanted in the mix. And yes, he handled himself well.Gruba is a great interview. Especially for a freshman.
I’m going to be very interested to see how they respond this weekend. Kind of feel like they got away with one last weekend, the kind of game/series we saw past teams lose where they would get the better of the play by far and get beat by a weird goal or a hot goaltender (we got both last Saturday). I’m hoping last weekend was an aberration and they either just had a random sluggish weekend or they hit a team who was playing like a bunch of chipmunks who got into the chocolate chip cookie jar. Penn State just seemed to be everywhere all the time and you have to give them some serious props and feel a little bad for them to not get anything to show for their effort. Not real bad, just a teensy weensy bit bad….
One big thing I noticed was that in last weekend’s games they weren’t moving their feet, especially in the first half of Saturday’s game. Seems like they would coast into corners after the puck with both feet set, rather than actively skating. When they got pressure in the 3rd, you saw their legs churning and they were beating Penn State to the puck and getting good zone time. This is what I’m going to be watching for early tonight in Madison, how quick their feet are moving when they go after the puck. Up until last weekend that was one of the big things I saw they were doing that allowed them to dominate time of possession and get so many chances.
This is a very good team, but I need to see a couple more Big Ten series to decide if they are truly an elite team or not this year. Would love that to start with them dominating the BADgers, but I’m always leery of a Hastings team regardless of their record.
I believe the Badgers are a much better team than their record suggests. Expecting two close ones, especially on the road.
I think last Saturday was a mixed bag. The first 15 minutes of the game the Gophers had more of the play but Penn State finished the 1st period really strong.
Then having to kill 7 minutes of penalties in the second period gave Penn State momentum and we struggled that period even strength. I wonder if some of that was caused by having to adjust to playing with 11 forwards (Snuggy DQ) which resulted in different line combinations through out the line up when trying to use the 7 wings fully. It seemed like almost ever time a line came out it was a different combination which I can see how that happens when trying to use all 7 wings fully with the 4 centers.
In the 3rd period the Gophers got back to their game and were noticeable better.
What’s on BIG Ten network tonight @ 7pm instead of Gophers vs Badgers? Womens volleyball? 🙄 Fning A!
Regarding this weekend I think @maroon_and_gold is right on.
Wisconsin is better than their record indicates. Looking at their stats (I mentioned some of them earlier in this thread) it is surprising their record isn't better.
Plus last weekend was a very good weekend for them so they are likely trending upwards. Obviously the Big Ten is tough so who knows where they will finish in the Big Ten. Last weekend they took 4 of 6 points at Notre Dame. They carried the play both games. On Friday the shots on goal were 44-24 and the attempted shots were 72-44. On Saturday the shots on goal were 35-23 and the attempted shots were 73-45.
Eff the Badgers.
Like it or not, it's almost certain to get more eyeballs than any college hockey game during the season. What’s on BIG Ten network tonight @ 7pm instead of Gophers vs Badgers? Womens volleyball? 🙄 Fning A!

@steve-mn They’re televising at 7pm - Mount St Mary’s at Maryland men’s 🏀. What a JOKE, two teams that aren’t even true big10. lol While Fox9+ has (evidently) their home team Jan Brady State hosting Miami at the Concrete Center.

Some of this below was explained in this week's GPL Podcast...
#1 - Bally's in Wis (now FanDuel) cannot sign new contracts while in bankruptcy. So when the contract ran out, that was it. One of the reason why we no longer see Gopher hockey on that station here.
#2 - Minnesota pays $500,000 a year out of their own pocket to get a ton of games on TV. You will not see other hockey schools in the BigTen willing to do this for their fans. But they still have zero control over what other schools put on TV...
#3 - Wisconsin has trouble getting hockey on TV in Madison because (According to Todd Milewski) there may be issues because Madison is not a metered market and they cannot measure advertising. So it is a tough sell for advertisers when the team has not been consistent in the last few years.
#4 - BTN gets higher ratings with Volleyball & Wrestling than hockey. So they will chose rating over what you think is more interesting to watch.
#5 - There are more games on BTN this season vs last season. I believe Paul Caponigri said around 50 this year which is much higher than last year.
#6 - Minnesota request to be on BTN less this year for home games. They did this so that they could have better game times for all those "fans" bitching about games at weird times or on non-traditional days.

This will give you the chance to focus on your team the Bulldogs. Oh wait you want to watch a better team play (the Gophers). So a fair well Bulldog fan who likes to take shots at the Gophers ever chance he gets but loves watching them play because they are a lot more fun to watch. I see how it is. 😀 😉 🤣
Sharing this from some friends in Madison at their hotel… lol!!!
Better dead than red…

GO GOPHERS!!!
Keep your stick on the ice...
Last weekend when both the Gophers and St. Cloud were at home the Gopher games were shown live on Fox 9+ while Jan's games were shown tape delayed.
This weekend the Gophers are on the road and Jan is at home so her games are being shown on Fox 9+.
@collegehockeyaddict lol…I just wanted to watch the game (Bulldogs hosting Fning Hawks isn’t on either as Fox9+ is showing Jan Brady U vs Miami)
Bulldogs vs. Sue is there a way both teams can lose? 🤔 Although I suppose the Bulldogs winning helps the Gophers strength of schedule this year (although I'm not worried about our strength of schedule) and I never root for the Sue.
This reminds me of the times I was at the X watching a Sue vs. Badgers Final Five game in the afternoon before the Gopher game at night wondering why am I here watching this game but I guess that is what happens when you are a CollegeHockeyAddict. 🤣
If anyone’s interested, B1G+ is running a 50% off for 5 months sale. Comes out to around $6.50 per month and covers over 200 B1G & WCHA games. HOCKEY24 is the code. Expires tomorrow. Ski U Mah!!!
Notre Dame @ Michigan 5pm
