For goalies, going to be a tough sell for an elite goalie if we only get 1 year with Airey here. Especially if the staff likes Airey.
Wouldn’t mind picking up Liam Souliere in the portal. Had a bad year but was terrific the year prior. Also has a lot of experience and would probably settle for shared duties on a contender.
Yeah I’ll pass on Souliere lol
Mozart agrees!

Is Wood a one year player?
I would imagine.
Solid looking roster mix, alot of depth, potentially a solid NCAA player is sitting if everyone is healthy. 7 Juniors who were freshman last year are the biggest class. How quick they grow up.
Year # Freshman 5 Sophomore 6 Junior 7 Senior (+) 4 22
*I am sure the actual lines wont have an all freshman bottom line but I like putting the Freshmen at the bottom to start.
Did Whipple and Yakesh not make this list??

Pretty easy to disagree without any counterpoint, so I’ll assume you prefer Barto to Souliere and Mozart changed his tune.
Yeah...you should probably not quote my post since I was making a movie reference based on his comment. I have no clue who that person even is.
Former PSU goalie. Also been a while since I watched Amadeus 😂
Cool snippet in here about Faber and Snuggerud. Faber says coming back for his junior year was “the best decision he has made”

Are we meaning Salieri? 😂
Yes. The joke doesn't require proper spelling...
I figured at least GE would have jumped on the reference. It is disheartening more people don't get an Amadeus reference!
It took me too long to make the connection. I figured I’d help anyone else that was lost. Of course there’s no helping those who don’t know who it is/haven’t seen it. 😃

I got it and have it a 👍 but it was too clever to ruin for others.

watching this interview, two players mentioned UND and Michigan as the rivals. Anyone surprised to see no Wisconsin reference?
Guessing we should look forward to some morning games at Mariucci next year?

Not shocked really

I would actually say that recently our top rival is Michigan. Lots of competitive games and playoff games. Wisconsin "rivalry" hasn't really been competitive for a while. Wisconsin is our #1 rival for football and basketball though.
I feel like UND views us as more of a rival than we view them at this point. I do also miss having UMD and St. Cloud as rivals. With all those games being non-conference it just doesn't have the same meaning that it used to.
I will be surprised if Clark doesn’t pass up Huglen on the depth charts, or push him to the wing. Huglen had a nice year this past season, but I see a much higher ceiling for Clark…and think he will easily be the better player next yesr.

That's a gutsy call. Huglen is a slippery player who plays hard in three zones. He also has a high hockey IQ and does a nice job distributing the puck. My one criticism of him (I like his game) is that he should shoot more.
I think Clark is a little more of a North-South skater, but I think he plays the position responsibly. He had a good freshman campaign, and it appears he's progressing nicely, but he'll have to take a major step this summer to eclipse Huglen, a proven player with more experience.
I like the comment above about Clark, I think he has a break out sophomore year. Maybe my expectations were simply too high to begin with, but I didn’t think Huglen or Pitlick stood out last year, both were solid, but I expected more. Nelson.& the much maligned Brodz carried the team during the last month, which shows the value of occasionally giving players a 5th year. I thought Chesley would be better too. But with the return of Snuggy & addition of Wood, and some exciting freshman coming in, a return to the Frozen four is a distinct possibility in 24-25.I will be surprised if Clark doesn’t pass up Huglen on the depth charts, or push him to the wing. Yeah Clark is ready to break out. You could see it coming on as the year progressed, only problem was he was playing with 3 players that got outscored by the goalie. I have him centering Pitlick and Wood next season in my early projections 😳
I hope you are all right about Clark and I am wrong in the sense I don't see him being a breakout guy, more of a steady-Eddie that gets a lot of things right but isn't going to be seen as a high-end producer.
In other words he will be like Huglen has been? Time will tell, he was never an ideal 4th line fit, hopefully playing with better line mates will make a big difference.I hope you are all right about Clark and I am wrong in the sense I don't see him being a breakout guy, more of a steady-Eddie that gets a lot of things right but isn't going to be seen as a high-end producer.
I should have added that there's nothing wrong with that type of player, and if he proves me wrong all the better.
Clark is a hard one for me to predict. Tough to evaluate a player stuck with Pino, J Mitts, and Strobel for nearly all season.
I love his compete level regardless, and think he will be a valuable 4 year Gopher.

I agree, not seeing it with the lofty expectations. I certainly would expect Huglen to outproduce him next year.

Love the Clark love, but the idea he’s going to push Huglen to the wing is silly. Huglens biggest value is in the defensive end where he is extremely responsible in his positioning and IQ. That said, Clark also can play wing and he certainly can play in a top 9 role next year that way, perhaps even on a line with Huglen centering and using Clark’s north/south speed to create space, similar to how they did with Pitlick when they played together in the past.
I don’t think Clark will be a man possessed next season but if you gave me an over/under of 22.5 points I’m taking the over.
I don’t think anyone’s saying Clark will push Huglen to wing, there’s plenty of room for both of them in the top 9. They’ll likely go Moore/Huglen/Clark down the middle with a mystery 4th line center that could change periodically.

that’s going to mean this team scores a hell of a lot and/or he’s getting pp1/2 time coupled with us advancing pretty far in the postseason. We’ve had about 5 forwards/year averaging those numbers since 2019-20. Even with the Cooley team, only 7 total forwards that year hit that mark, with multiple of those guys only getting there because of the regional.
Not saying he won’t, just that we don’t have many 3rd line guys who do that

Lamb jumped from 8 points to 27 this year. Asking Clark to jump from 11 to 23ish is a reasonable ask considering the increased opportunity he’ll likely get.
Huglen’s great on the walls and possessing the puck but I thought he’d develop more playmaking ability. Only 8 assists this year as a junior after having 9 his freshman year and 10 his sophomore year. Only 2 more assists than Clark with more playing time, better line-mates and pp time. Unless Clark is buried on the 4th line again I wouldn’t be surprised if he out scores Huglen. Don’t think either should be one of the top 2 centers though imo.
For what we know as of know it would be Huglen. I don’t think he brings enough offense to crack the top 9 next year unless we see some unexpected transfers/signings.
I think this has the potential to be the deepest set of forwards the team has had in a while. I see Pahlsson starting out as the 4th line center, but after the 1st line, the other 3 lines could be pretty equal. I hate to break up Pahlsson and Hendrickson, so I could see that swap. So many possibilities and it will be fun to see how Bob sets his lines and how they mesh.

Sorry, not sorry...but you hooligans are sniffing rubber cement if you think Huglen is NOT going to be centering the third line like he has since he shown up on campus. He will NOT see the fourth line next season.

I totally agree. I love Huglen’s game.
I still think it’s a little premature to assume he is going to be back next season though.

I just inserted Gruba in the spot Fish played with Chesley for the final games last year. Bob played LM and Koster together last year and both were lefties. I guess if I wanted to even it out I would flip LM and Gruba then.

I have no idea. Just throwing a lineup out there for fun and how I would like to see it. I'm sure my forwards are listed on the wrong side as well..

Think Ziemer and Pahlsson are both going to come in and be impact players pretty quickly. Pahlsson’s a freshman but he’s still older than Snuggerud, Wood, Moore, Clark, etc. Ziemer is having a pretty good year and someone who goes to the net, can be a Knies-lite imo. Also already has as many goals as Snuggerud did in his U-18 year and higher ppg with some games left.
Bet you anything Nevers is back. Whether you like it or not.

If Huglen is the 4th line center for the Gophers next year, I will donate $50 to a charity of your choice.
Huglen is wearing a letter next year in my mind and centering the second line.
