Latest update from Mariucci

Do they have a guy who is on quality control of the view from each seat? ?
I remember in the GPL podcast with the JLG Architects head guy (forgive me I don’t remember his name) he said they prioritized sight lines. I sure hope that is the case cause that’s probably the best part of watching a game at Mariucci.
As for the dreaded black jerseys, I patiently wait to see them before I judge them. More specifically, wait to see the jerseys combined with the players wearing helmets, breezers, socks, gloves, etc... Only then will I give judgment.

The Gopher PR Team powering up about a month before dropping the puck.
First practice of the season is today, correct? I’m curious to see what different line combinations and pairings they’re playing with. That must be one of the more fun things to do as a coach. Trying out different players in different parts of the lineup.
Completely in a blender. Per usual for the start of the season.

FYI... Was able to fix your embed by changing it from X.com to Twitter.com... Looks like the plugin for this site that parses that info to embed it has not taken X.com in to account yet.

I noticed that ever since “X” became a thing. Thank you!

Looks like this is a bug with the software, so I submitted it to the software developer.

From what I’m seeing on twitter, sounds like the freshman are fitting in well. I think Moore, Rinzel, and Clark will be impactful pretty quickly.
I wonder what kind of role Clark will have on this year’s squad. Hard to see a top 9 spot for him when you look at the team on paper but you never know. Speed kills and he has plenty of it.

Idk if this is being discussed anywhere (been out of the loop traveling the last week or so) but do we have any word on how the TV deals are being ironed out? Ideally I’d like to not pay $150 a month for cable and the only reason I did this was because Xfinity had Bally’s (which obviously covers a lot of gopher non-conference games or any that BTN doesn’t) where others didn’t. If that’s no longer a concern I could start comparing other options.

From Jup in the schedule thread-- ( also it has been said the Bally's is OUT ) There is more discussion about this in the schedule thread if you want more info.
The U is working with Rush Media for the entire TV situation... Rush is run by Matt Hover who was a long time producer of Gopher hockey back in the day for FSN... He may even go back to the MSC days.

Charley Walters with some breaking news ?
—The Gophers’ Mariucci Arena is shrinking its ice sheet from 100 feet wide to 89 feet wide, which will improve sight lines. A similar project is scheduled for the Gophers women’s ice sheet next summer.

So, according to the Shooter, they will be shrinking the ice at Ridder from 85 - 89 ft. wide??? The man is a hockey genius!
Gotcha I guess we’ll wait and see then. I know literally nothing about Rush and what TV provider would have them (or if they’re streaming). But thanks for the info I’ll prob research TV options further once we know more.Idk if this is being discussed anywhere (been out of the loop traveling the last week or so) but do we have any word on how the TV deals are being ironed out? They are not affiliated with a TV station... They are a production company that produces the broadcast. Just like how SCSU students produced the broadcast on Fox9+ for those games.
I am still hearing Fox9+ for games this season. I guess we will see how reliable my source is. 14 games. 10 home. 4 road. (picking up road feed)

I'd love to see how they are going to fit SCSU/UST and Minnesota games all on the same channel for the same sport. And on the weeks where all three play at home at the same time who gets the shaft.
Looks like SCSU actually has their fox 9+ games listed on their schedule.
https://scsuhuskies.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/schedule
Potential overlap dates:
10/20 and 10/21 @ North dakota. Guessing will be Mediacom only but SCSU on fox9 + vs Alaska
11/3 vs UMD. SCSU on Fox 9+ vs Miami at 7:30 St Thomas home vs Northern Mich
11/4 @ UMD. Know that feed has been carried on fox9+ before--SCSU vs Miami on Fox 9+ at 6 St Thomas Home vs Northern Mich
11/17 and 11/18 vs Notre Dame. SCSU vs UMD on Fox 9+ and 7:30/6
11/24 and 11/25 vs Michigan State. SCSU vs Michigan on Fox 9 + at 730/6 UST home vs Lake State that weekend
1/19 and 1/20 vs Ohio State. SCSU vs North Dakota on Fox 9+ at 730/6
1/26 and 1/27 at Michigan State. SCSU vs Omaha on fox9+ at 730/6
3/1 and 3/2 vs Michigan SCSU vs Denver on fox9+ at 730/6
So 7 overlapping weekends with 3 of them including UST as well. The ones that I would look at and worry the most about no BTN would be UMD, Notre Dame and the home thanksgiving weekend vs Mich State. The Sparty series I could see some weird game times to get on TV like 4 on Fri and 3 on Sat since it's Black Friday.

Sparty is Black Friday and Sunday. I would love a true day game
I feel like the main reason reason for shrinking shrinking the ice wasn't sightlines but I've been wrong before.
The reason for the shrinking of the ice has nothing to do with sightlines, as far as I'm aware. It's simply something that they wanted to pay attention to during the process to make sure they didn't screw up the sightlines.I feel like the main reason reason for shrinking shrinking the ice wasn't sightlines but I've been wrong before.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Yeah they’re clueless…
So if the non-con games are gonna be on Fox 9+ or some other local alternative do we have any indication that there will be a solution for us out of market? BTN+ has been a life saver, would gladly pay a little extra during the non-con stretch to see those.
It's rough being a Gopher fan in Fargo sometimes lol

Is Fox9+ streamed? If so get a VPN and switch your location to Minnesota and you should be fine.
(It sounds more difficult than it is...VPNs are a lifesaver)
@handyman 9+ is on antenna tv
According to Google you can stream Fox 9+ through the Fox Local app. Same would apply with a VPN but you would likely need to get the app on your phone and cast it to your TV.
There is other ways to do something similar if you have a smart TV.
Man it sucks having to jump through hoops for this stuff...thankfully I have done this stuff before so I am good at problem solving.
I figured this day was coming. Here in the sticks I don't get Fox9+, so I'm hoping that my BTN subscription covers most of the games.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
While not in the sticks, moving to Texas this past May didn't help me. I will have to figure things out as they come, but I will be counting on BiG+ as much as possible. Although my cable/internet provider doesn't have the app in their system, nor does Samsung on their TV, so I will have to rig my AppleTV up to get the channel.
All this fractured TV nonsense has really made things much more difficult. Although I suppose having more choices and being able to see things in general is a poitive.

If that's the case then we're golden.
So my dad, who’s from the greater Chicago land area, has made the joke before that he’s convinced that there are actually no more than 10,000-50,000 people in the state of Minnesota. Owing to the fact that it seems like wherever you go you’ll run into a fellow Minnesotan and chances are you are no more than two to three degrees of separation from knowing or knowing of someone that they know. His point was proven once again today when down here in Pensacola I found out that one of my Naval Aircrew buddies (from Woodbury) is childhood friends with none other than St. Paul’s own Carl Fish.

Minnesotans are more likely to have a passport. Obviously a passport is used for international travel, but it stands to reason they'll also travel well within the US. If anything to get away from the Sconnies that infiltrate the border.
I can't wait for puck drop. Who thinks that one of the Gophers will win the Hobey this year?
If one of them does win the Hobey it means the whole team will be doing great. I have been a Gophers fan since 76. This just feels like it's going to be a great year, and they will win it all in St. Paul! Go Gophers!

A VPN and a chrome cast or roku should get ya there.
Met a couple of people in Madrid last week who used to live here haha.So my dad, who’s from the greater Chicago land area, has made the joke before that he’s convinced that there are actually no more than 10,000-50,000 people in the state of Minnesota. Lines from today's skate as we're getting closer to the season. Ice is supposed to go in at Mariucci this weekend, they're still hard at work over there getting everything connected.
Pitlick-Lamb-Snuggerud
Strobel-Moore-Pinoniemi
Clark-Nelson-Nevers
Kurth-Huglen-Brodzinski
Mittelstadt-Michel
Chelsey-Fish
Mittelstadt-Rinzel
Thomas-Koster
Begley-Rud
So lines still pretty much in a blender from what I can tell. Seems like they’re trying to commit to some concrete d pairs though.

The demo and remodel is the easy part. Even if they were ahead of schedule, it the connecting and making sure everything works that takes time and headaches. Still have 17 days till the exhibition game vs. BSU and 23 days till the home opener vs. STU.
Keep your stick on the ice...
This much I know from my companies experience at doing four rinks in the last half decade. The lines are pressured checked/leak checked before the concrete is laid so that isn't the hold up. All major coolant lines are connected it is probably drains and other instrument lines that are being connected with all the pre-start up checks on the compressors happening now. There are no major connections left at this point in the build. This is just my guess on past experience.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
Any word on when we get to see these new uniforms?
