I was glad to hear him address that elephant in the room. I asked Jup if he could ask Larson that question but their conversation didn't go in that direction and really wouldn't have fit the line of questions Veegs and Jup were asking. So I appreciated that Gaardsy did bring it up and I think Larson did a great job responding to it.

It’s not just his Duluth & tUMD connection, why I like Brett as the new Gopher HC. He’s 53 years old, experienced enough to have learned a ton, having been a member of 2 Natty title & WJ Gold medal staffs & a HC for 8 years… but still young & energetic enough to pour himself into the job. And he’s assembled a coaching staff that appears 2nd to NONE. Plus (if you listen to his interview with Justin Gaard) Brett appears to actually GET IT…that the challenge at M is to build a TEAM with the “right” players filling the right roles. Getting the skilled talented players has never the problem at M, it’s filling the 3rd & 4th line & 3rd D pair with the “right” players who embrace their role on the TEAM. And recruiting goalies who can handle the pressure of backstopping a team that’s expected to win at the highest level. I expect the M to be back in the Frozen Four by 27-28 or 28-29 (at the latest) & to break the Natty drought sometime during Brett’s tenure at M.

For whatever people think of YHH, at least he asked some new and interesting questions. A lot of new tidbits in this interview. Coach Larson sure does seem like a likable guy.

lol…they’ll be back to respectable next season, but beyond that might be a stretch. Besides, if Max Plante doesn’t sign with the Red Wings, next year will be little bro to the North taking up that mantle & returning to the Frozen Four! 😉🤠 But all kidding aside, when Joey Cullen arrives on campus in 28-29, I expect nothing less than a deep run & a team that’s a total WAGON, pushing towards & possibly reaching 22-23 level (with a better final outcome).@bearpaw28 thats interesting I expect then to compete for a title next year as should you.
If Dane Jackson can flip North Dakota around to make the Frozen 4 in his first year then we should have the same expectation for Brett.

I don't think last year was truly indicative of Minnesota's ability or inability to get top end talent. Complacency was the issue, enough was not done to help this year's team, which was going to need help from the outside to compete in an ever-improving B1G conference.

You wouldn’t be wrong to stick with that prediction. There are really only two outcomes.
If the Gophers don’t make the Frozen Four in 2027, no big deal. That’s a forgivable miss for an enthusiastic fan. We’ve all been there.
If they do make it, though, you go down as a GPL legend, the one who saw it early and believed in the new coach before everyone else. Not just on the bandwagon, but driving it.
So for the record, if they get there, I’ll be the first to say: “And you know who called this first, back in April? @slap-shot. That poster is a GPL legend!"

I know there were "fire Motzko" chants last year but before that I don't recall it being a thing before that. At least not to the point where it was more than a small handful of people chanting it.
