Who had the Gophers scoring 9 with Knies getting no points and Snuggy getting only one point?
Play better vs Jan. Go Gophers.
What is clymer talking about? Motzko with the 3rd unit on to be nice to the other team? In a 4-2 game?
WTF
That was one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
Haha I guess I'm not the only who caught Clymer's drivel about mutual coaching respect by keeping the first PP off the ice....when it was only 4-2....and 15 plus minutes left in the game.
For chrissakes the guy played in the freaking NHL. How can he possibly make such a ridiculous statement?!
Ben Gordon just said it best "You play your best the more you play."
I know it's not that big of a deal, but the thought of a UND guy having to press the button that plays our Rouser 9 times (plus a bonus one I think for the goal that was called back) makes me happy.

I think Bob may have learned something in this game:
In a NCAA tournament , lose and go home game against an inferior opponent you DO NOT PLAY THE DAMN 4th LINE.
I said this before the matchup. I will say it all the way through.
This is not a back to back, Friday-Saturday regular season matchup. We have a rest day in between games. More importantly, the television timeouts for these games are L.O.N.G.G.G.G.G. If you had your first line out there, the timeouts are so long you can stick them right back on the ice.
What kept Canisius in the game was a penalty on a 4th liner that led to the first goal on the power play. Then, the 4th line being outmatched in our defensive zone on the 2nd goal that put them up 2-1.
That gives a team like Yale hope. That gives a team like Canisius hope. That keeps them in the game. That frustrates our team. And it is completely uncalled for, especially since the Gophers will have last line change the entire tournament.
During the game, creating matchup advantages is really one of the few ways that a hockey coach can directly influence the game. Lucia gave it away all the time. Bob has had a tendency to give it up, until he saw enough.

Maybe Clymer knew it would be 9-2???
Gophers combined for 24 points. Knies had none. Probably time to sit him down. Put Schmidt in his spot and Get Pino back in on the 4th
@gator That was a fun weekend at the X.
I still like the Robert Morris mascot.
Remember the Gopher fans giving Robert Morris a standing “o” after the game. Plus the pregame and post game tailgating was epic.
Keep your stick on the ice...

I’ll mend your statement. Don’t play Schmidt. Mittelstadt and Lamb were fantastic. Sorry Colin.
MTU and MN almost got into a fistfight a few years back, because MN sent out their top PP unit with a big lead. It was hilarious.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I had a prior commitment tonight that only allowed me to watch part of the game.
Gophers won the part of the game I watched 9-0. I'll be in Fargo Saturday so no worries.

I heard he is questionable for Saturday night with a repetitive finger injury. ?

I think Knies needs another year!

agreed. Why we went with Schmidt I don't really understand. Lamb was outstanding and a noticeable spark to me.
btw it's about 11:45 a.m., it's already 93F, my electricity just went out so I'm using my mobile hotspot haha. But I don't care because the Gophers won!

I was at that game if we're referring to the same game. G money got into a huge bitching match with Michigan Tech coach.
Tech got dirty taking 3rd period penalties and the Gophers kept putting the top unit out to score power play goals basically saying if you want to be dirty we are going to embarrass you.

Yuck, I’ll take the 30F gladly.

That's the game. Some of us found what the MTU attendance would be, bought SRO tix, then sat in the front seats in the MTU fan section. 😀
It was quite the spectacle seeing that.

The most amazing part is that he used to be much worse. He would have a minimum of 3-4 head scratchers every game, yet he’s still there….getting paid.
Does this mean that a Gopher is more Golden than a Griffin?

That was not on my bingo card…

Coach definitely changed things up in the 2nd period going to three lines and using both Kurth and Lamb at RW with Huglen and Pitlick. It definitely worked I suspect we will see more of that against St. Cloud.
The 4th line will likely get a few shifts but the hook will be quick if they aren't playing well.
The penalty though that gave up the first Canisius goal (5 seconds after he was back on the ice) was Kurth. Thankfully coach didn't bench him. He played well the last two periods. His goal put us up 3-2 and the rest was history.
Don't want to get too far ahead of myself but that 3rd period reminded me of the 03 game where they just scored at will on that poor mercyhurst team

2003, but you’re spot on. MN went on to dismantle a very good Ferris Bueller team in the next game.

I've said all year the 4th line barely plays even with their opponents. I would keep their time on the ice down to a bare minimum.
Not gonna lie at some point in the middle of the second period it felt a little like the holy cross game. Canisius down 2-3 going into the final frame was quite a surprise.
Hope the real Gophers show up on Saturday.
Good job guys! Glad they got a couple goals on the 5min PP. Keep the momentum up and let's keep this rolling. I just hope they saved some goals for Saturday.

That might be the only game I've been at were I truly felt sorry for the other team including saying I realize they want to give the conference an auto with the hopes of growing college hockey and giving those teams a chance to sell making the NCAA tournament but really is this good for the sport. That game was an absolute beat down.
B1G changed to 12 minute intermissions a while ago. NCAA still uses 15 minutes (as do several conferences)Are these intermissions longer than normal?
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

The third period was a beat down. Anyone who says they weren’t shitting bricks the first two periods is lying. And probably hasn’t changed their underwear. ?
Canisius' goalie played great I thought... and they gave up 9. Fun to see this Gopher unit get rolling. Keep it going Saturday, boys!

Do people remember who Ferris beat in the first round at Mariucci? ?

Once Kurth scored to make it 3-2 I started feeling good. I'm not saying I thought the game was over just that we took their best shot (we had some nerves early) got down 2-1 but then took control in the last 14 minutes of the second period and had the lead going into the 3rd period.
IMO worrying about what may or may not happen in a single elimination tournament will just make you a nervous wreck.
This season has been a great season regardless of how it ends and will be one of my all time favorite seasons.

My post in this string was in reference to the game against Mercyhurst that Chill mentioned.
Been so long since I've posted...
Will just reiterate what others have said - reminiscent of the Mercyhurst Beatdown. And let's hope the next result is reminiscent of the following game against Ferris State.
The way that third goal was scored you could just feel the change coming...
Snuggy has 21 goals, Knies 21, Cooley 19, Brodzinski 18 when was the last time we had four 20 goal scorers?
Do not like how this board is run?
Get your own board!

1989-90 from my research
Peter Hankinson 25
Scott Bloom 24
Ken Gernander 32
Grant Bischoff 21
Trent Klatt 22
Ben Hankinson just missed with 19
I bought tickets yesterday morning on Ticketmaster. Glad I did.
Pretty good Gopher crowd I thought. Less and less green as the game went on.
The big turning point was the 5:00 major.
Gopher face-off percentage was insane in the second half of the game.
Cooley banged up his left hand or wrist in the third. He kept taking his glove off and looking at it. Not sure why those guys were out so much at the end of the game.
I think they need some new boards at Scheel's. Super hollow and unpredictable. Behind the Griff goal the boards/glass isn't even perpendicular to the ice. And they had to take time to sew up a net between periods. Wtf?
I sat next to an awesome Gopher fan who killed it on the AC/DC air guitar and the crew didn't put him up on the video screen. Boo.
Any North Dakota-only beers I should be buying while I'm up there? (cans so I can bring back)
Fargo Stone's Throw. I've never seen it in a bottle.

On the 6th goal Cooley got slashed on the wrist when he danced around three Canisius guys at the blue line. He takes his glove off to look at it when celebrating the Brodzinski goal that he set up.

Just caught this late on the rewatch from Clymer: “yes there are 8 goals on the board but he did not give up 8 goals tonight”….he kinda did!
