I think that covers the Frozen Four matchups. Not sure on earlier rounds over the years.
These stats seem to imply that they mean something this year. They do not.
It's history or trivia, whatever. It means that the Gophers and Terriers have met 5 times previously at the Frozen Four and these are the results. Nothing more.
Fun Fact - BU is one of only 6 active NCAA teams that the Gophers have a losing record against (13-16-1). Back in the late 80's/early 90's, the WCHA and HE had one of those conference challenges set up for a few years, so the Gophers would always get the chance to play BU/BC/Maine/UNH, etc. on a fairly regular basis as part of the regular season. I really wish there was a way for something like that to happen again. Alas, with having to try and schedule most non-conference as home games (due to $$$) that will likely never happen again.
As for the game, BU played two completely different styles of game over the weekend. Against Western, it was more run and gun like the Gophers generally like to play. Against Cornell, they adopted the defensive shell game after they went up 1-0. What that tells me is the team is very coachable and can adapt easily. Should be an interesting game to watch.
Can't wait until the Weds night pep rally. Last years was so much fun. Watching Matt Koalska letting people try on his championship ring was priceless. There were a lot of former players around all weekend long, and everyone we ran into were really friendly. Justin Johnson and his wife were especially nice. Also, looking forward to seeing the large GPL contingent. This is going to be FUN.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
I used to tag along with my parents to these. I eventually reached an age where I wasn’t really comfortable having them pay my way as much as they tended to, so I stopped going. At times like this I’m pretty irritated that I made such a principled decision. What was I thinking? They never complained. ?
This is the last meaning between the two. Pivotal goals from known goal scorers Jake Parenteau and Seth Helgeson turned the tide in that one!! Also what a net drive from iron ranger Nico Sacchetti!
It will be interesting to see how ESPN determines game times, especially if Qwhatever gets bounced.
I guess that comes down to Minnesota or Michigan (if they make it) being the bigger draw. I would assume the MN market with the Boston market would make it a shoe in for the night game.
Not disagreeing but methinks ESPN would slobber over a chance to carry a possible u-mi-tOSU matchup in primetime, even if it's not football.
Pretty sure it's already determined. High seed plays the early game.
Has anyone watched BU this year? I only caught a little bit of the game earlier today. The game today was a grinding game with not much flow.
I have only seen their two last games. They're pretty darn good. The Gophers need to really be aware of their little jitterbugs, who can really fly and make hay. Think Dave Spehar when he was on the Greyhounds. If the Gophers overlook their ability to disrupt and make things happen, we could be in for a long game. I think Coach won't make that mistake. Rodents win 5-3.
Yeah I probably shouldn’t drink and text, it was a dumb joke. But yeah every conference gets screwed because I go and say this stuff on other boards and the committee is out to get me.?
That isn't what I said at all. What I was saying was fans of every conference think they get screwed by the committee. The committee isn't out to screw anyone.
It wasn't a criticism of you, just the argument in general.
(Honestly if anything they would want multiple Big Ten teams for name value...no one cares about most hockey schools)

I think it’s just historical rivalry talk. Got two weeks to talk about the game. I was very young during the Herb Brooks years, and only remember the 1979 title. The losses in the 1990’s are still a sore spot for me. Some stacked Gopher teams that got knocked out by some stacked BU teams.
This season, I think we are the better team. If we play disciplined and limit the turnovers, I think we will beat them. As others have said, we have much more depth, especially defensively.

Sweet, earlier today I blocked my calendar from three to end of day just in case.

Does 1st seed get choice on game time or is it all TV dictated? Feel like it is beneficial to be early game for more potential rest and also better ice conditions. Either way, I am happy with it!
Gophers open as -180 favorites. For non-bettors, that implies a win probability of about 65%
stealing my line 😉
Saw you use it last game and thought it was a great idea to mention! I forget that not everyone pays attention to gambling odds and how they read/work.

It's entirely ESPN's call. Same as with the regionals now that they added the off-day.
