Bucci speculates that the Gophers/BU game will be the late game on Thursday.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
The last time the Gophers were #1 in the Pairwise against one elite D-man in the Frozen Four, we lost 7-4. They’re going to change that against BU.
It's history or trivia, whatever. It means that the Gophers and Terriers have met 5 times previously at the Frozen Four and these are the results. Nothing more.Lost to BU in the 1971 final
Beat BU in the 1974 semi-finals
Beat BU in the 1976 semi-finals
Lost to BU in the 1994 semi-finals
Lost to BU in the 1995 semi-finals
I think that covers the Frozen Four matchups. Not sure on earlier rounds over the years.
These stats seem to imply that they mean something this year. They do not.
Fun Fact - BU is one of only 6 active NCAA teams that the Gophers have a losing record against (13-16-1). Back in the late 80's/early 90's, the WCHA and HE had one of those conference challenges set up for a few years, so the Gophers would always get the chance to play BU/BC/Maine/UNH, etc. on a fairly regular basis as part of the regular season. I really wish there was a way for something like that to happen again. Alas, with having to try and schedule most non-conference as home games (due to $$$) that will likely never happen again.
As for the game, BU played two completely different styles of game over the weekend. Against Western, it was more run and gun like the Gophers generally like to play. Against Cornell, they adopted the defensive shell game after they went up 1-0. What that tells me is the team is very coachable and can adapt easily. Should be an interesting game to watch.
First back to back Frozen Four’s since when?
2012 and 2014 is close, 2003 and 2005 is close. Would it be 02, 03?
Can't wait until the Weds night pep rally. Last years was so much fun. Watching Matt Koalska letting people try on his championship ring was priceless. There were a lot of former players around all weekend long, and everyone we ran into were really friendly. Justin Johnson and his wife were especially nice. Also, looking forward to seeing the large GPL contingent. This is going to be FUN.

I used to tag along with my parents to these. I eventually reached an age where I wasn’t really comfortable having them pay my way as much as they tended to, so I stopped going. At times like this I’m pretty irritated that I made such a principled decision. What was I thinking? They never complained. ?
This is the last meaning between the two. Pivotal goals from known goal scorers Jake Parenteau and Seth Helgeson turned the tide in that one!! Also what a net drive from iron ranger Nico Sacchetti!
Just throwing it out there for people looking for tickets in Tampa, they are selling ticket/hotel packages as well along with some other perks.

I bought tickets for the NCAA basketball regional in Des Moines a couple weeks ago from them and it worked out well.

Great point. I was at that game and Gostisbehere was on the ice for all 7 of their goals.
Gothespier is a swear word to me. We just couldn't contain him.
It will be interesting to see how ESPN determines game times, especially if Qwhatever gets bounced.
I guess that comes down to Minnesota or Michigan (if they make it) being the bigger draw. I would assume the MN market with the Boston market would make it a shoe in for the night game.
Not disagreeing but methinks ESPN would slobber over a chance to carry a possible u-mi-tOSU matchup in primetime, even if it's not football.
Pretty sure it's already determined. High seed plays the early game.
Anybody have an idea where the Gopher ticket section is generally going to be?
I have only seen their two last games. They're pretty darn good. The Gophers need to really be aware of their little jitterbugs, who can really fly and make hay. Think Dave Spehar when he was on the Greyhounds. If the Gophers overlook their ability to disrupt and make things happen, we could be in for a long game. I think Coach won't make that mistake. Rodents win 5-3.Has anyone watched BU this year? I only caught a little bit of the game earlier today. The game today was a grinding game with not much flow.
@frozen4champs Do we know where that pep rally is at? Also, where the pre game party will be on Thursday?
@frozen4champs Do we know where that pep rally is at? Also, where the pre game party will be on Thursday?
Not yet. They usually release those details the closer we get to the FF. Last year, the pep rally and the Thursday pre game was at the same location.

Yeah I probably shouldn’t drink and text, it was a dumb joke. But yeah every conference gets screwed because I go and say this stuff on other boards and the committee is out to get me.?
That isn't what I said at all. What I was saying was fans of every conference think they get screwed by the committee. The committee isn't out to screw anyone.
It wasn't a criticism of you, just the argument in general.
(Honestly if anything they would want multiple Big Ten teams for name value...no one cares about most hockey schools)
Wrong thread

This is on the NCAA website. Times don’t seem to be set.
Yeah with the day off TV sets the schedule. Assuming OSU doesn't find a way to come back it's almost a guarantee we are the late game.
I didn’t have the volume up very loud but that is not cappy. I guess there’s your problem. ?
Wrong thread 😉

As the #1 seed and a helmet school it was likely we were anyways.
I could see the appeal of a Michigan Ohio state primetime game, but I'd nearly guarantee we will be the late game now. Especially if Pedo St wins.
I know it not right. But College Hockey News yes have us playing in the early game with Quinnipiac in the primetime slot.

That gonna chance you can bet on it.
FWIW, Bucci tweeted last night and said again on TV he expects the Gopher/BU game to be the late game.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Gophers open as -180 favorites. For non-bettors, that implies a win probability of about 65%
A rematch of the 1974 semifinal vs BU that my wife and I were at in Boston. 49 years go by fast.
More recently, BU knocked the Gophers out in the Frozen Four in 1995 on the way to winning a national title. Time for some payback!

I think it’s just historical rivalry talk. Got two weeks to talk about the game. I was very young during the Herb Brooks years, and only remember the 1979 title. The losses in the 1990’s are still a sore spot for me. Some stacked Gopher teams that got knocked out by some stacked BU teams.
This season, I think we are the better team. If we play disciplined and limit the turnovers, I think we will beat them. As others have said, we have much more depth, especially defensively.
During the PSU Michigan game they just put up a graphic that says the winner of that game plays Quinnipiac at 7:30.
So looks like MN/BU is the early game.
The one I saw said 5 / 8:30. Still TBD

Or ESPN can't figure their own bleep out as they just showed another graphic that still has both times a possibility.
Who knows.
Early game !
Boston U/Minnesota is the early game. Michigan is the primetime game just annonce on ESPN2.

Good. I want to extra rest because MI is gonna coast.
Works for me. Leave work at 3:30 and in my La-Z-Boy at 4:00.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Sweet, earlier today I blocked my calendar from three to end of day just in case.

stealing my line 😉
So, working late then? ?Sweet, earlier today I blocked my calendar from three to end of day just in case.
Also it’s on uscho that we’re the early game
Does 1st seed get choice on game time or is it all TV dictated? Feel like it is beneficial to be early game for more potential rest and also better ice conditions. Either way, I am happy with it!
Early game starts at 4 or 5 central?
It's entirely ESPN's call. Same as with the regionals now that they added the off-day.Does 1st seed get choice on game time or is it all TV dictated? Feel like it is beneficial to be early game for more potential rest and also better ice conditions. Either way, I am happy with it!
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
I guess it doesn't matter much to me when we play just that we play
So let’s see U of M vs Mich for championship and Gophers get #6
Aloha!
Can someone make sure that Mike Legg is sequestered at home or other secure location? Thinking ahead here.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
