Notre Dame is 7-14-1 overall and 2-11-1 in the B1G. Mn won 6-3 and 5-3 earlier this year @ South Bend. Lamb took a knee on knee hit from Janicke in the 1st game. Airey played both games of the series.
Will Falloon and/or Thomas be back? What will the goalie rotation be?
7:00 pm
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Airey got both games earlier, give Souliere both this weekend. Team looks more relaxed and confident when he’s back there as well
Players I would like to see get some points against ND
Clark -- pointless in 8 straight games and 1 point in the last 13 games.
Gruba -- pointless in his last 8
Lamb -- pointless in his last 3
I think Bob will split the goalies this weekend ( much to the dismay of a few GPLers ), but maybe he will go with Souliere in both games against Michigan St on the road the following weekend. At least that is what I would do.

I dont think it is so much a question of goal tender but the team mentality behind them. The team seems very confident with Souliere and Airie is ia good tender but a little shakey in the early minutes. I think he gets better as the game progresses but then we cannot hang him or be down 4 + . Souliere looks super solid with no nerves. Put him in
This is a weekend where the good guys should not, and cannot, give away any points.

In a perfect world, Gophers get a relatively easy sweep and stay healthy for MSU. Despite last Friday's diaper-filler at tOSU, it seems unlikely that Motzko changes his goalie rotation-- maybe it'll depend on practice this week? Staying with a no-frills, simple, and energetic attack is important in South Bend. Would love to see a little line juggling given the struggles noted above (e.g. Clark, Lamb, Gruba.) Whipple has improved significantly, and Rinzel is also asserting his talents. Motzko also seems to be pushing Pahlsson back into a top 6 despite a bit of uncertainty. Brooms should be ready to go this weekend.

Bob said post ND that they felt ND would only score in front and therefore went for the bigger goalie.
Could see any of the 3 goalie strategies, will be interesting to see.
From Bob's radio show--
They had a great practice on Weds before the OSU game. Did not see it coming.
Said last 2 losses they took a 5 minute penalty. Can't do that.
He thinks the injured players may be back this weekend.
Moore was really sick last weekend. It is going around the locker room.

Huh? Isn't the NFL season done? I'm pretty sure it is over.Saturday TV has been moved to Fox9+ due to the NFL game at 7pm
Keep rotating the goalies for now unless Airey really starts crapping the bed. I feel like he’s gotten better every game and he certainly isn’t gonna get any better from the bench, plus it’s smart to keep both fresh.
Go with Souliere in the playoffs though.
I would not argue the rotation. Airey has looked shakey in several games at the start but in my opinion has gotten more confident as the game goes on. He cannot be all flustered and unsure the first period and expect the team to be confident in front. That being said, BE IN FRONT regardless of the goalie. Souliere has been fantastic. No exception. Play him when the team needs a boost in net but remember..... Support your netminder and all will be well because they are both top tier. PLAY LIKE IT or play like they cannot make a save. Just win
On another note, we need someone to start exerting themselves on the faceoffs. We are giving up puck possession constantly which puts us behind the 8 ball every..... time. PK and faceoff issues along with a few other things. We need a Nelson. Every team needs that guy that does the somewhat invisible things that make ALL the difference. Do we have that guy? Who is that. Who is it going to be. Please someone be that guy

I just want everyone’s knees to stay in tact this weekend. Well and to win both games. Mostly I want to win both games, but while keeping everyone healthy.

I disagree. Souliere all the way. I just read this quote in an article on MN News Network:
Netminder Liam Souliere stopped 38-of-29 shots he faced in nearly four periods of action to earn B1G Third Star of the Week.
If a guy has a 1.31 save percentage, you gotta stick with him!!! He stops shots that aren't even made, he is so good! (And how does doing the impossible only get THIRD star of the week? What did the top two stars do? I mean, everyone is already walking/skating on water.)
He's got over 100% save percentage. How can you not play him?Keep rotating the goalies for now unless Airey really starts crapping the bed. I feel like he’s gotten better every game and he certainly isn’t gonna get any better from the bench, plus it’s smart to keep both fresh.

I think keep Aries in the mix until there's a more compelling game not to. I get they're gunning for a top 4 seed, but I'm not convinced yet Aries is capable of impeding that.
Fallon and Thomas are back. Kurth out

Let’s go Gophs!!! Sweep time.
Kurth will participate in warmups and will be a game time decision. Sounds like he may have been banged up in practice?

Kurth is playing. His first shift was with Pahlsson and Snuggy.
Ziemer's first shift was with Huglen and Clark.
Never's first shift was with John Mitts and Hendrickson.
I don't think Falloon is suited up tonight.
Good Lord.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Snuggy from Pahlsson!!!!

Nevers from Hendrickson his 2nd assist of the period.
5-1!!!!!
Two 4th line goals.
Shots in the 1st period Gophers 24-5
Attempted shots Gophers 42-12
The Irish goalie is going to need an ice bath after that period/this game. 😉
Phew that was fun
It's funny how much better this season the Gophers have been with Cal Thomas in the lineup.
He is clearly the straw the stirs the drink. 😀
Serious though when he is the line up the D core is sooooooooo deep and strong (Rinzel, Chesley, Koster, Thomas, Luke Mitts, etc.) the break outs from all the d pairs feeds the offense which when the forwards are healthy is 4 rolling lines all who can score and the Gophers just beat their opponent into submission.
have we scored a breakaway goal this season
have we scored a breakaway goal this season
Beckett Hendrickson can score on a breakaway.

For the second game in a row the Gophers sent the opponent's goalie to the showers early. Notre Dame switched goals after the first period.
More scoring please!
