I thought we did outplay them tonight, but we were still really sloppy. Way too many weak plays trying to get out of the zone and through the neutral zone. I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count the turnovers that should have been scoring opportunities the other way if Michigan was competent. Bob after the game was not happy, even though Micheletti tried to praise their game. I’m hoping tomorrow it will be more north/south to attack instead of the east/west it was tonight.
Same old Jank. He's the EXACT same on the 247 board about the football team.
Debbie Downer to the Nth degree.
Yeah it’s honestly crazy that the gophers didn’t win that game. Between the breakaways, Moore’s five hole miss, the blocker save on the 3 on 1, the miss on a wide open net on the PP, the miss on a wide open net wrap around (maybe blocked), and I wanna say there was some misses on a few other golden opportunities… all you can do is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and hope they play a similar game tomorrow with better zone entries on the PP. Only thing that sucks about that loss is that it worsens their chances to catch MSU but that was kinda unlikely anyhow.
Main gripes would be OT was bad, the PP zone entries were also bad, and they first period where the passing was really suspect. Ideally they start playing more complete games.
Michigan has done this a couple of time over the past few years, struggle in December and January and then heat up down the stretch and roll into the Big Ten and NCAA tournament with a full head of steam. At some point, they stop taking dumb penalties and play better (marginally) defense. While their talent level is down, its not void. Proof, they split with Sparty last week.
Minny definitely had their chances --- I mean we got our 1 break away goal for the year, so were done there.
Watched part of Denver vs. the Susies last night --- Denver is still impressive even with their struggles (goalie number 1 got hurt though). Susies are really struggling this year --- which breaks my heart.
Don’t look now but the vaunted BC Eagles are on two losses. Crazy that even good hockey teams can lose. Win a solid game tonight and get back to Mariucci healthy for a big series against OSU.
On the offsides that brought back Ziemer’s goal, can someone explain the rule? I ask because Michigan got clear possession and turned it over. Is the rule that until the puck exits the zone again nothing counts?

You have it right. Part of why I dislike the rule but there’s not really any other way to write it
Same lines as last night.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
For all, we’re going to miss a good sized chunk of the first on BTN. Wash PSU bb is going long so tip for MN USC is at 307 and there’s no way in hell they’re going to finish the game in under 2 hours

For those able, you may want to have the Fox sports app ready to go.

Please don't tie this game.
Please don't tie this game.
thank goodness for this grossly long and unnecessary review. Should’ve taken 2 seconds
Hate Big10 TV! Always late to get to the hockey. Can Chl 9 pick up the broadcast and never have to deal with Big network? !!
Gophers are flying early but just haven't got one past yet. SOG 5-0 so far.
Shocking that shooting the puck on the PP works
Wood 1-0, PPG.

Douchebag Michigan player with a crosscheck to the back of Middlestadt as he's already being hassled by another Michigan player. Naurato is the new Hakstol.
Snuggy could probably use taking a breath here. He’s made a couple questionable passes and just took a run at estapa.
play your game kid
2:00 for an elbow to the back of the head???
End of 1, Gophs up 1-0.

Chesley is having a rough weekend
Chesley is having a rough weekend
he’s overall had a tough season. Very up and down. It’s almost like he’s pressing and thinking too much at times
Hughes 1-1.

Son of a
Can the goalie make a save on a breakaway?

Yeah Chesley didn’t play that particularly well he kinda got caught in between.
Chelsey actively making his case for a senior season in Maroon and Gold.
Chesley just gets walked again. Something is going on there
Teams finishing tonight leaving an awful lot to be desired. Moving the feet well and deserve better, but at some point you have to finish some of these
Would expect Koster is probably done for the night given we haven’t seen him back after the elbow to the head from Whitelaw
Gophers kill a Rinzel penalty. Need to get the mojo back.
Tale of 2 periods here. geez
Gophs need to get it together and weather this storm.
This period has been ugly
Saying they suck would not be hyperbole. They're fighting the puck and letting MI take the play to them.
End of 2, tied at 1.

End of the period was pretty good but the rest of the period was a lot of missed passes and good defense/better possession by Michigan. Ideally we see them bring their A game for the third, they had it for most of the first period.
i can't understand why Motzko doesn't ask for a review. Whitelaw had to put some effort into getting his elbow that high and obviously targeted the head. That Koester didn't come back is all the evidence you need that was no minor penalty.Would expect Koster is probably done for the night given we haven’t seen him back after the elbow to the head from Whitelaw
51 shot attempts, 9 blocked, 24 on goal. We’ve missed the net 16 times and hit 2 posts. Need to find something here in this 3rd
Michigan dominated the 2nd. On the positive side of the Gophers can win the 3rd period...
Their passing seems off. Also, having trouble exiting the zone. Just need to start finishing.

They seem to have at least one period per game where they just suck at passing for whatever reason. Even in good games where they score five goals we’ve seen it.
Moore 2-1.

OLLIE
BANG. GOOD SHIT BOYS

There supposed to be the rested team. They are very up and down, like this is the third week of the season. This is not the Michigan yeam of the past few years, and Minnesota is struggling to score goals.
