2004 yep. CC beat them and then lost the quarter final to AA. Minnesota beat North Dakota that year 5-4 for the final five title.😁
Denver has made 18 frozen fours and came out on top in 9 for a cool 50%. I think Wisconsin also has an enviable win-loss percentage, making the most of its appearances.
The Gophers, on the other hand, not so much. While they have made the tournament 23 times, they have won only 5.

Made the Frozen Four 23 times. NCAA tourney 40 times, won only five. Which is worse.
5-8 in the title game is a fair thing to add to the overall numbers. Not a great stat, but at least adds another layer of relative success to the 5, 23, 40 story told above. We're endlessly nostalgic about 0.6, which was part of the 8 losses stories...

I am impressed with the academic excellence! This team also brings SO MUCH TALENT to the rink. I completely get frustrated because I want them to win every game by many goals against huge competition. I want them to be invincible. There is no such thing. The very best teams lose( as we did last year, and I completely believe we were the BEST team), the lucky teams win. We have had a few of those. The unlucky teams lose. We have also had a couple of those. Come on guys! This team has it all! We can win it ALL! Do we need to play better? Yep but it is a one and done. Live and die by that. Play or come home. It is on the team

I have cousins from Grand Forks. Can't tell you how many times they said they were "coming to the cities". And of course we were always jokingly referred to as 'citiots'. 🤣
Looking like were playing Omaha or Western Michigan in 1st round. If Omaha is the opponent the Gophers will be traveling to Missouri (host school) Obviously the committee could switch us with Wisconsin (closer) and have us play Western Michigan

Omaha is the host in Sioux Falls so Gophers likely end up there.
From what I can glean, I’d bet money on our region being:
BU vs RIT (or AIC)
MN vs UNO
in Sioux Falls.
Looking very likely this will be the case
In my opinion, the 1 seed in Sioux Falls depends on if UMass gets in.
If they do, it will probably be BU.
If not, I think it will be Denver. But who really knows other than the committee.

I like our chances, as the only MN team in the tournament this year. In past years in state rivals have been the Gophers kryptonite. Hopefully Bob uses the only MN team angle to help motivate the team. If the Gophers play their game there is no reason they can't win 4 in a row with 2 of those games basically home games. Win it all in St. Paul, go Gophers!!

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
It wouldn't be too surprising if the committee decides otherwise, but I do expect us to be in Sioux Falls.
The top seed in that regional remains to be seen, but one thing's certain: the committee is going to put MSU in a regional with one other B1G team to avoid a repeat of 2005, so the projections putting them as the top seed in ours may be accurate.
