Since Media Day happened today, it is time to start a new season thread. Let's kick it off with the full video of Media Day.

Anything notable happen this off-season? ?
I really like what Bob had to say about Brodzinski. Really sounds like he’s worked hard to take that next step. Said he looks notably faster, or something in that vein.
That’s fine and all but I’d kinda rather see him play on the line he finally gelled with. ie Nevers and Nelson line
Moore and Snuggy could use someone on their line who excels at forechecking and puck retrieval, not sure who best fits that description but maybe Lamb.
Obviously I’m not super worried about line combos before the season has begun but I do kinda think Brodzinski on that line probably isn’t ideal long term.
I'm very excited for this year. Most likely the extra skater will be a forward. Not sure what the lines will be, but the Gophers are deep and should have a great 4th line. They will have a really decent power play for sure.

I agree I’d rather see Brodzinski with those two and have someone like Kurth play with Moore and Snuggy. It’s good to hear that stuff about Bryce regardless though.
Thanks for the video Jup! It was great to hear from so many of the players along with Bob.

Despite a run of bad beats, excited to get this season kicked off. Some excellent experience complementing talented youth. Excited to see if Kurth or Lamb - or both - can step up as serious scoring options. Both have the tools to pot 20 goals.
So why are there it any seats behind the glass in the arena? I see the seats but a white space around the arena separating the the seats from the glass
Aloha!

Seating bowl updates haven't been started yet is my understanding. This off season was only the ice.
So are they just going to tease these new uniforms and that’s it? I need them and I need them yesterday!

They saw the reaction here and are making sure they won’t look like Ronald McDonald under the new lights real quick.
So when Bobs career ends at the U who will be his replacement?
Aloha!
Idk, not really worth thinking about until the time comes as a lot can change between now and then.

Imagine the press conferences.
The only comparison I can think of is a certain, former long time, Strib columnist, except for Sid was answering questions.

Huglen would fit with Moore & Snuggy, but he's so valuable at center. That’s fine and all but I’d kinda rather see him play on the line he finally gelled with. ie Nevers and Nelson line

According to my Comcast/Xfinity the season opener Vs the Tommies at Xcel is broadcast on regular Fox9, not Fox9+

Bob also mentioned and Vegoe confirmed that Nathan Airey is out to start the year. So for the first handful of series they’ll be working with just Close and Wiese.
Walking wounded already. Depth should be strong enough to overcome it.
7 more days till the season starts. Cannot wait, this roster should be a real contender!
Super pumped!! No Faber, Johnson, LaCombe and Koster to start the season so the D will be trial by fire.
Thankfully Bob playing Chesley, L. Mittlestadt, and Thomas a lot last season should give those three sophomores the confidence to go out there and play like upperclassmen. Fish was always reliable when called upon and I don’t see the limelight being too bright for him. The new defenseman will probably experience some highs and lows just like Johnson and LaCombe in ‘19 and to some extent Faber in ‘20 but look how fantastic those three turned out to be. In part because Bob and Co. trusted them, worked with them, and kept sending them over the boards. Excited to see what these guys can do! Should be a great year!
They have a chance to be good this year, but depth certainly won't be a strengthWalking wounded already. Depth should be strong enough to overcome it.
Happy to see the boys hit the ice again. Just need one extra win this year.
And you didn’t even mention Sam Rinzel! The D might take some lumps early but they will be just fine.

What is known about Koester's injury?

What is known about Koester's injury?
The only thing I have seen is Jess Myers responded to a question on social media saying it happened at practice on a play in the corner. Said it was a normal looking play. He wouldn't specify the injury due to Koster's privacy and said it appears to be a month + injury.

Gopher Hockey is almost back on our television screens. Rejoice!
Days.

I think they have 10 skaters who will have 10+ goals this season.
Snuggerud, Moore, Brodzinski, Nelson, Nevers, Kurth, Huglen, Pitlick, Lamb. Did I miss anyone? I don’t think Clark gets there this year. Or any D. Will have plenty of scoring depth?

I could see L Mittelstadt get there if the power play is clicking. Koster too if he wasn't going to miss the first month.
but depth certainly won't be a strength
I don't see how this take makes sense at all lol
Having a bunch of 2nd/3rd liners doesn't make you a deep team. Deep teams have 1st liners playing on the 2nd line and so forth down the lineup. The Gophers are only one injury away from being in trouble with their forward groupbut depth certainly won't be a strength

Your list is what I was thinking, and as someone else mentioned Koster/Mittelstadt could be another. I think a couple of keys for me is-- Snuggy and Brodzinski need to get 20+. Also, we need a couple of 15+ to make up for the loss of Knies and Cooley with the rest being around 10+. It will be interesting to see what Rinzel and Chesley do offensively this year. Chesley had about the same number of points as LaCombe did as a freshman.

Yeah this is nuts man I'm not gonna change your mind on this but this team has scoring depth up and down the forward group and has a number of guys that can AND HAVE stepped up when needed. Hell, the production for this team in the playoffs came from your "2nd/3rd liners" you'd probably rattle off if I asked you to list them.
It really just depends on your definition of depth. The lineup they put on the ice is deep in the sense that their 3rd line may put up 30+ goals. Their “bench depth” or whatever you wanna call the reserves waiting in case of an injury is pretty sparse as they only have 14 forwards to begin with and one is a d3 call up.
