I agree Knies is an absolute stud.

One thing I did find interesting is Pat Micheletti during the radio broadcast mentioned that they (the coaches) been working on with Knies is to give up the puck quicker (he obviously has great line mates - Snuggy & Cooley) that at times he tries to beat too many guys himself and that if he passes quicker he can let the puck do the work. If there is improvement coming from that line with how Knies and Cooley work together look out!!!!

That’s the question, Close or Barto. Imo Close is too damn good right now to take out…

So far this season the Saturday starts are two a piece. Close started the two Saturdays when on the road (Mankato and Ohio State) while Owen started the two Saturdays when at home (Lindenwood and North Dakota). Will this continue?

I guess Nevers wasn't feeling any pain from the hit he took last weekend.

Good lord, that was a ton of shots.  Once we blew the doors open, Bischel never stood a chance.

Great game.  The Gophers just completely controlled almost the whole thing. A definite shame to let that goal in at the end to ruin the shutout for Close.

Kind of amazing to get that many shots on goal on a team that usually plays such good defense.  I loved watching it.

Just need to keep up the effort tomorrow and finish a sweep.

Fun to watch last night. I did not expect to see the boys put up 50+ sog against ND. Let’s hope we see a similar kind of effort in game 2 & go for the sweep.

My 2 cents from last night-

-- students showed up again last night.

-- As GE said, the 3rd goal was a thing of beauty. LaCombe got it out of the zone and dumped it down the ice. Knies went after it like a bull, won the battle and Snuggy finished it.

-- Jamie LOVES to announce Jimmie SnuggeROOOOOD after his goals

-- Cooley is definitely frustrated. After a couple of shots, he raised his hands in frustration. The goals will come FWIW. My only critique of him is his is pretty slow at getting off the ice on a line change. He just kind of glides over.

--Huglen got a lot of quality chances last night. Like Cooley, it will break soon.

--Pitlick is like the Tasmanian devil out there. I like his hustle and play when he doesn't throw his stick in the crowd.

--Close made a lot of quality saves. Liked his play. I would prefer he starts tonight and give Barto a game next week.

-- John Mittelstadt is going to be a solid 4 year player.

-- Guarantee the Irish will play better tonight, the Gopher need to come out like last night.

--The U is slowing starting to get the details done around the arena. They finally have the team pics of 2020-21 and 2021-22 up. Now they just need to get the awards area and the Olympic area updated.

What do we think is better for Barto? Seeing probably around 20 shots against Notre Dame or upwards of 40 against Penn State next week? Both?

I'd say both.  Get him experience against a variety of playstyles.

Knies also said he didn't want the penalty shot and was surprised he scored shorthanded because he usually isn't good on breakaways

STOP WITH THE "S" WORD! You'll upset the sports gods. Ask USHANABI who mentioned a "shutout" last night, and a minute later or so, ND scored.

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

The TV guy did it. Talked about the shutout at the 2 minute mark.

UNoDam playing the traditional 4 man trap at the defensive blue line . . . waiting to pounce on mistakes by the Gophers . . . Boring?

Not knowing what to do, they do what they know . . .
Knowing what to do, they sometime don't do it . . .
The 26th year of the Gopher Men's Hockey Profile got to be too much for this ol' codger to handle . . . what with all of the possible activity on the transfer portal . . . . So, I'm closing it down at the 25th year . . .

How that hit on Faber wasn't called live is ridiculous. And the fact that the refs are reviewing this for this long with the replays we've seen is more ridiculous.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen them go back and review a penalty from a couple minutes before but I also think our goal was the first stoppage.

I wouldn’t think we’ll see Faber against PSU, especially with a Th/Fri series

I’m doing a total humble brag….I’m listening to tonight’s game at the Lima airport hotel online, sipping a Pisco Sour.  We head inland and the Amazon tomorrow morning.  Go Gophers!

When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.

Now THAT was a good game.  There’s something really fun about lounging on a hotel bed, drinking a nice cocktail, eating empanadas and cheering on a Gopher win long distance.  Would we have loved to be at Mariucci? Of course!  But it’s sometimes fun to just listen and cheer along.
On an Amazon note…I want to fish for piranhas!
