A decent amount of tickets sold for both games this weekend but hopefully more are bought up and we can get a good crowd in the building. I know this past Friday was a clunker but let’s keep the optimism going and cheer on the boys against a very solid Notre Dame.
If we play like we’ve played so far at Mariucci we should be in good shape.
Also first series since Mankato that the opposing goalie doesn’t scare me (although Dobes didn’t really do much last weekend)

The Alumni Band will be playing on Saturday as the students will be rehearsing for the Sunday Indoor Concert.
Hoping for good crowds. I appreciate the university putting in some effort with the Friday promotion.

Wife and I are going Saturday and maybe Friday. Have Friday off, but have a couple house projects to get done. All depending on the projects, we might head down late afternoon.

I have not seen any details, but I think Steve may be correct. In years past, this is what they have done for in arena auctions. Hopefully, the U will have more details on it later this week.

There was just a very amusing story in the Wall Street Journal about the popularity of AARP among 20 yr olds! I had no idea there’s no age qualification for an AARP card. Young people are joining in droves to get the discounts. The article was so funny about using it at restaurants and staff googling to make sure it’s legit. Or their parents embarrassed their kids had the card and they did not.

Not every disease is visible. Not every pain comes from an obvious wound. Some people you see day-to-day may be suffering in ways you or I may never understand and fighting just to live a normal life. Please consider contributing to the Facial Pain Association and together we can find a cure.
Couple of notes from Bob's radio show--
All 3 senior skaters were either sick (LaCombe) or banged up (Nelson & Johnson) going into last weekend.
They have a player with pink eye. Should be ready to go this weekend.
Really liked the Farm Kids play last weekend.
Hoping to stay above water until the 2nd half.
Need to have some of the young guys to start playing like veterans.
Didn't bring up Nevers injury at all other than saying he is having a great year.
Has work to do yet on special teams.

I felt he meant it in the context of the young players not getting too overwhelmed and getting used to college hockey. In no way did he indicate that he would be satisfied to just be above 500. I just think he likes to down play things now and realizes there will be bumps in the road and the final goal is still the end of the year. He knows the talent he has.

I took it as acknowledging that we have a ton of freshmen and therefore there is a learning curve. That there will be inconsistent play from game to game and within games that likely will cause some results that we don't like. But it is a long season and that the 2nd half will be better than the 1st half.
IMO I think on average we are going to see this year to year from the team. We definitely saw it last year. When you frequently are one of the top 5 youngest team this comes with the territory. Not a criticism just a realization.
Ah, ok that makes a lot more sense. I was able to listen to the episode just now on my way home from work and that’s certainly how it sounded to me. You can tell he’s being cautious and acknowledging that we have a lot of young guys but at the same time you can also hear how excited he is with the team we have. I’ll take a few bumps in the first half if we can keep pace with the rest of the conference leaders and then make hay after Christmas.
I don’t expect North Dakota crowds every weekend but something like that Mankato crowd would be pleasant and I think reasonable for a team like Notre Dame. 3/4 full with a packed student section. Too much to ask?
Listened to Bob's weekly podcast. He definitely "gets it".
I (and most fans) wanted to win that UND game badly, but its pretty clear he is playing the long game here and doesn't get too high or low regardless of early outcomes. He seems like a damn good coach.

I’m predicting 2/3 full and once again a solid student section. I’m hoping for more but there’s still plenty of tickets left for both nights. Hopefully if we win on Friday that will give Saturday’s ticket sales a little bump.

Starting to have individual meetings with players to help them improve.
Looking for continued improvement from the young players.
Trying to keep the minutes for the big 3 defensemen down. Felt they played too many minutes last year.

Talked about how he learned to shoot and his shooting style.
Loved playing in front of the large crowds.
Enjoys playing with Cooley and Knies. Sounded like he said Knies is passing on what he learned from Meyers last year.

Talked out what a strong player Huglen is. Thought Huglen was going to score 30 this year. Said Huglen is a nice guy until he puts the helmet on.
Says he talks to the goalie coach on where to shoot the puck. Goalie coach said "just shoot it hard".
Credited Walker and McLaughlin on his goals vs the Irish last year.
** I know Bryce has been the target of the wrath of some because of his lack of development, but he really seems like a great young man and am willing to bet he is a great locker room guy. I hope he has a breakout weekend.

BTW We didn't ask because it was pretty evident Nevers looked fine in practice playing on a line with Nelson and Kurth today. He even came out ahead in a wall battle with Matthew Knies at one point. I didn't see any hiccups in his stride or anything.

Per the release today, the jerseys will be an online auction.
In honor of National Jersey Day on Friday, the first 1,000 fans attending the game receive a free Minnesota jersey rally towel. The team also will be holding an online auction for its "100 Seasons of Pride on Ice" throwback jerseys, which will go live Friday morning.
It'll be a special night Saturday as the 'U' will unveil its 2022 B1G regular season championship banner and honor its NCAA Frozen Four appearance during a pregame ceremony.
