My street is one of the last streets to get plowed in Rosemount/Lakeville. So I pretty sure I’m snowed in for a while. And my driveway and yard is in a wind tunnel. The snow in my driveway is up past my knees for lots of my driveway. I’ve always used my snowblower. I’ve been out once and I might be call a plow service.
It’s crazy… nearly all my neighbors don’t get the drifting like my driveway… lol!!!

It is kind of hard to tell how much snow we got here in Mankato exactly since the wind has really moved it around. If I had to guess probably 4-6" of it. Pain in the ass to shovel, wet and heavy snow. When I came out to work at 4:00 am this morning the wind was blowing hard and made it hard to see the road on the short two mile travel west of Mankato. The DOT just did their three wide pass a little bit ago on 169/60 which cleared the road except for the ice that was under the snow.

Got about 10" of snow in NW Eagan. Wet, heavy, heart attack inducing snow. Driveway is cleared and I still can't get out. Road still has not been plowed.
Living in Plymouth area not a great deal of snow maybe 2 inches of snow
Aloha!
Main roads in Mankato are plowed and are pretty much just wet. Highways around Mankato are in the same condition. The city is just starting to plow the side streets which are kind of a mess right now. I spent about 5 hours plowing snow at work this morning. Took longer because the gravel was thawed under the snow so I had work at not digging up the gravel and pushing it in the ditches. The feet on the snow blade was even digging into the gravel...just aggravating. Now all the work I did will melt by the weekend.

Solid 10"-12" down here in Welch. The bottom layer was really wet and heavy. I do like the "one and done" storms though; snow starts in the evening, is done mid-morning and the sun is out in the afternoon. The end of the driveway, post-plowing, was a hell of a workout.
I couldn’t possibly tell how much we got in Woodbury. I already lived in a wind tunnel. Thai storm just made it worse. Driveway has less than an inch. Middle of the street has 3.5’ snow drift. I’ve watched 4 cars get stuck this morning trying to get out. Even the plow pickup from our HOA got stuck. They needed a bobcat to dig them out.
Winona was expecting anything from 2-8 and got a trace. Maybe up on the ridge it’s a little more accumulation and drifting but maybe an inch at best. Just getting icy with the temps dropping.
Probably 7-9 inches in Chisago City and it was wicked heavy. The paste/goop the plow dumped at the end of the driveway was really heavy, glad I got the snowblower in did.

Close to a foot Rosemount/Lakeville and it wasn’t until late l in the 2nd period of the Northfield/Orono the snowplows blew by… lol!!!

6-9 inches in Brooklyn Park. Hard to tell, but the absolute least I had in my driveway was about 4 inches, with the highest being about a foot. Overall, seemed 8ish. And yes on the heavy/heart-attack snow, my snowblower isn't the most powerful, so even with that, I got a pretty good workout.

I'd say about 5" in Hopkins/Minnetonka border, but with drifting, hard to really tell.

Glad I had four wheel drive! Our street is last to get plowed and when I left for work at 9:30 am got stuck immediately once I left the driveway. I barely made it home last night as the rain was turning to icy snowy stuff. Good times. 😂
I dropped off my kid at school today and as I was waiting to get out of the parking lot another student as plowing through the snow. I was watching him fairly closely because I was surprised at how big his shoes were (apparently a very large basketball type high top). He didn't take any caution when we transitioned from snow to the icy parking lot and went down hard.
The bad part was, since the kids don't wear coats or gloves, his hands were in his pockets and he had nothing to brace himself except his face. His feet slide out sideways and the first thing to hit was the face. I was expecting to have to call an ambulance but by God after a stunned moment he popped back up. Good to be young and have rubber bones!

Did he look around to see if anyone saw? 😂
I started to get out of my car immediately so he knew.
I would be worried about a post concussion.

heart attack snow is right. hospital has been buzzing these last few days

My 3-stall garage is full of stuff right now and no room to put all 3 vehicles besides the driveway. After digging 2 vehicles out, I hired someone to finish all the driveway. Especially with all the snow piled up in the driveway from the city snowplows. The guy said he'll come and plow the rest. He and his buddy showed up and used snowblowers which I was using. Just the snow was too deep and wet for a snowblower. And what I did shovel was a major pain cause my left shoulder is bad. They did a good job and it'll all be melted by Tuesday or Wednesday...

@kelly-red Different subject, I went & saw Anora at AMC Coon Rapids (I also saw The Substance when it was in theaters). Mikey Madison performance > Demi Moore. But, if Anora was truly best picture of 2024, the current state of the movie industry is not good, very low bar to achieve.Yuriy Borisov (Igor) character was underrated & a nice touch though & I liked the ending.
Because I’m in sunny warm Antigua and feel like tormenting my fellow GPLers. Happy shoveling 😜

Cab ride? We took the local bus 🤣. $2 and we learned when you get on the bus you say Good Morning or Good Afternoon to the other passengers. Talk about culture shock…it was the politeness!😀 We’re on the East side. Nowhere near the cruise dock.Have one (or five) at the mad mongoose for me!

Some interesting spring weather coming this weekend. 70 degrees and thunderstorms on Friday and Blizzard like conditions on Saturday with temps in the 30s out here on the prairie.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey

Pretty bazar outside in the south metro. I had a very slight dusting of snow on my sidewalk, rain, thunder and lightning.

Today was ice out on Green Lake in Chisago County. Hope it doesn't form back this weekend. 😆

47 degrees with insane amounts of thunder and lightning in Hudson
It is precipitating and on the verge of not being the rain kind in the icky state to the west.
Apparently near West End St Louis Park was a big lightning storm, and not even a couple miles west where I am, nothing.

Looks like Minnesota, especially the southern part, could be in for a couple of stormy days. Out here in the prairie, they said we could even see some light snow on the backside of the storm.

It has been interesting to watch how meteorologists have been forecasting this event for the last week or so. The system has all of the ingredients for something bad but just a few things could make it worse or less intense. Sun being the main thing, which I just returned from a trip to Worthington this morning and so far the sun is staying hidden. Clouds are thin in spots but no real sunshine to speak of so that bodes well to making this storm less intense.
Watching Ryan Hall Y'all yesterday in his forecast on You Tube showed some models that don't even show this system as severe which I find interesting. I hate severe weather which is the only reason why I keep up on weather events like this so I'm no expert. For as bad as this system has been forecasted this last week I don't see the weather experts losing their minds about this storm so I'm pretty calm right now. Check back in about 3-4 hours and that may be a different story.

The sun was out about an hour ago here. They just issued a Tornado Watch for here (SW MN) and the 1st line of storms are approaching from the west. Another line may form after this one passes as they said the sun is now out in eastern SD.

I was just watching a chaser who is in NW Iowa and it's pretty sunny there so that won't help keeping the southern edge of this from going severe. Also near Worthington is getting sunny as well. Boo.

And Tornado Watch for the SE third of the state, and the Skywarn nets are up and running. No reports of anything yet, but people checking in to test radios/etc.

South Mankato family- get to shelter please, you’ve got 10 minutes. I think your sirens are going to go
All the storm chasers are on that Fairmont storm and someone reported an observed tornado so it’s NOT a radar indicated warning

saw this post and immediately called my daughter who is at Kato, to be sure she had a plan. She tells me "yep, we're just sitting on the deck watching it roll in". Had to be a dad for a minute and tell her that probably wasn't the best plan, but if I'm being honest, that's exactly what I would be doingSouth Mankato family- get to shelter please, you’ve got 10 minutes. It does look like the worst of it down there will miss Mankato. Also, looking at the current pattern, may miss most of the metro area as well, seems to be two lines, one north and one south of most of the cities, but, in conditions like this, something could easily spawn off those two that does hit the cities (I'd think maybe off the south end of the northern line possibly triggering something south and behind it)

Same…the annual siren call to the deck/front porch.

Meteorologist sister lives between Mankato and Mapleton, south of St. Clair.
she just said Mapleton is in line for a tornado warning.

Okay, I was watching Ryan Hall’s livestream on You Tube and the tornado warnings south of Mankato storm chasers debunked as nothing but dust devils or “dustnadoes”. The storms have had some winds but nothing really storm of the century type stuff.

In Hastings here, part of the line coming through now but so far its a dud in this part of town...
St. Louis Park shoots the gap once again. I’m not complaining. Some good gusts as the front went by, though.

Coming home from work, 394 was dead, along with the side roads. I think more than a few people took off of work early to avoid The Storm.
But, nothing happened here. Might get some rain later, but nothing big.
